Senior Member Stuart01 Posted October 13, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted October 13, 2009 Patient was a 32 year old male with a class V pattern hair loss. We did 2,778 FUT's, the break down of grafts was 960 1 hairs 1,438 2 hairs 380 3 hairs for a total of 4,976 hairs. Post op pictures are 8 months after procedure, patient should still get some more density over the next 4-6 months. He is thinking about 1 more session sometime in the next year for more density. After that session he should have enough density where it should look close to a full head of hair. He is also on propecia for the last year to hopefully prevent further hair loss. Bill - Seemiller
Stuart, That's interesting as it looks like the central core is really lagging behind. It seems like they'res hair, it's just thinner, lighter, and less mature. I'll be interested to see how this patient looks in another 4 months. I hope you'll provide an update :-) Thanks for posting, Bill
Senior Member Stuart01 Posted October 14, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted October 14, 2009 rpachigo and Bill thanks for your comments. Bill you are right the mid zone thinner and less mature, the reason for that is this patient was a class V pattern hair loss and has very dark hair so Dr. Panine felt it was better to consentrate in zone one with a lot more grafts since he had hardly any hair their and he wanted to be able to comb his hair back after just one session. He did add grafts to the mid zone and to the crown. A lot of the minaturized hairs that you see are his originally hairs. The patient knew that he was going to need a second session for more density in the mid zone and crown. But again we really had to consentrate heavy into the front zone because he has such dark hair and there is a lot of contrast between his hair and scalp and we had to keep in mind that he wanted to be able to style his hair back. There will be some more improvement over the next 4-6 months and I will update pictures at that time. Patient has also been on Propecia for the last year so hopefully that will also help him.
