masonette
Hi All, I was looking to find some reviews from ,patients who have had hairline touchup sessions with Dr. Ron Shaparo. I had a transplant with Washington Medical in the DC metro area a couple years ago and I am happy with my results. I would like to add a little more thickness to the hairline but have since moved to the Minneapolis area. I really have no reason to return to DC other than another transplant. My representative at Washington Medical suggested Dr. Ron Shaparo. Was hoping to hear from some memebers on the forum before going into the city for a consult. Thanks all in advance
Senior Member Nick153452 Posted May 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted May 27, 2013 Umm. I just had my hair transplant with Dr Paul Shapiro who is Dr. Ron Shapiro's brother (at the same clinic), and I can assure you that they both know their stuff. Dr. Ron Shapiro is a pioneer in age-appropriate, conservative, and everlasting hairlines. He is very meticulous and professional, so you have nothing to be afraid of, especially in knowing that a consultation at Shapiro Medical Group is free and highly beneficial. Also, if you haven't noticed, both Dr Ron and Paul Shapiro are both coalition Dr's on this site, meaning that they are amongst the worlds most refined hair transplant specialists. If you would like to see some of his work, here is the link to Dr. Ron's patient results page. Senior Member Nick153452 Posted May 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted May 27, 2013 Just as a side note, you can't go wrong with Dr Paul either. Dr Ron, from what I have heard, tends to have a longer patient waiting list than his brother due to his status, but I have no regrets with talking with and choosing to go with Dr Paul. I've even heard that some people even prefer Dr. Paul because he tends to be a little more aggressive with what he will do for a client. However, keep in mind, our deepest desires are sometimes our darkest foes. You don't want to be overly aggressive unless you are willing to commit yourself to future hair transplants and also have the hair density and laxity to allow for it. Keep those in mind. Senior Member Nick153452 Posted May 30, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted May 30, 2013 I would consider myself lucky. But there are many other great doctors out there. I highly suggest at least talking with them. Senior Member harryforreal Posted May 30, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted May 30, 2013 The doc who did my HT is a recommended doc on this site. I have 2's all the way across the front of my hairline interspersed with 1's and maybe a 3 or 4 at the very front! I had just over 1000 FUE graphs almost 16 months ago. I found myself constantly saying "It looks so pluggy!" but since people say "Wait up to 18 months before coming to a conclusion" I've tried to hold off on passing judgement. However, as I continue to come across hairline pictures that look very refined and natural, and then read they are done with all 1's, I'm wondering why a recommended doc on this site would use so many 2's all the way across. I'm really at a loss for words...
Bill - Seemiller
harryforreal, Physicians recommended by this website typically use single haired follicular units for the hairline, not double haired grafts. First, did you contact your physician and express your concerns? What did he/she say? If you would like to share your experience and photos, you are entitled to do so. However, we ask that you create your own topic instead of piggy backing off of someone else's. If you decide to name your surgeon, we do ask that you allow him/her to present their side of the story on your forum topic, which may require to privately identify yourself so that your surgeon knows who you are. Best wishes, Bill

I've been very confused and uncertain by the appearance of my HT, and the topic as it was presented here finally has given me clarity with regards to "typical technique" of physicians recommended by this website. I will do as you have directed and create a separate topic, as I would like more input from community members (including comments from photos). I am not interested in naming my physician at this time - just want a better of understanding of the process I have undergone. Thank you very much for this forum. Sincerely, harryforreal
