Regular Member Tioto Posted February 5, 2004 Regular Member Share Posted February 5, 2004 For all of you that used MINOX after a transplant, how long did you use it?; I am using it in my hairline after the HT and my grafts are already growing (I am at the 3 months mark) but I do not want to keep on using it in that area, as my hair looks like crap!!!, I will keep on using it only on crown though, I am using propecia as well, any advise ???? Senior Member MDM Posted February 6, 2004 Senior Member Share Posted February 6, 2004 I think i remember Dr Feller saying that it is probably best to use it up to a year since hair growth cycles vary. After that all the transplants should be in. Maybe just use it at night and shampoo it out in the morning. You might ask Dr Feller for specifics. Dr. Alan Feller
Use it at night and then wash it out in the morning. Do this for about 9 months. Dr. Feller
Senior Member HairBeThere Posted February 6, 2004 Senior Member Share Posted February 6, 2004 Are you using the Meijer brand? I picked it up for $25. It is a 3 month supply and is 5% minoxidol.
Regular Member Abouw Posted February 6, 2004 Regular Member Share Posted February 6, 2004 Check out malessentials.com. they have great prices on minoxidil 5%.
Senior Member MDM Posted February 10, 2004 Senior Member Share Posted February 10, 2004 Tioto, I think Dr Feller recommended using the 2% Minoxidil solution on the transplants. He can correct me if I'm wrong. It may have to do with the fact that you are placing it on a very tender area that has undergone some major trauma. You might ask Dr Feller. Regular Member Tioto Posted February 12, 2004 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 12, 2004 as I said I am using rogaine from pharma, but I guess and brand should be alrigh (5%)
Dr. Alan Feller
Tioto, If you are concerned about rebound to your native hairs, keep the rogaine away from them and only put it on the transplants. Dr F
Regular Member Tioto Posted February 16, 2004 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 16, 2004 Doc. feller, the transplant are in between my hair so it is impossible to avoid the contact of minox. with them, what should I do then???
Dr. Alan Feller
If you transplanted between your native hairs, and they didn't shock out from the trauma that always accompanies surgery, then you probably won't have to worry about rebound from stopping rogaine either. Then again, who could say for sure? Sorry, you're on your own for the final decision. Best of luck. Dr Feller
