  1. Tony, Don't worry, a large percentage of my transplanted hairs didn't fall out in my first HT, and I had great results. On my second, a large percnetage "did" fall out, and I'm still having great results. So whether they fall out or not doesn't mean a thing. The bandana should not have bothered things unless hairs stuck to the bandana and were pulled out. You would know from seeing the hairs and blood. The scar is still healing and will for a long time to come. Hope this helps. Good luck, and remember to be "patient".
  2. JO2O, I would agree with Smoothy, check out Dr Shapiro in MN. You absolutely won't find a better HT doc anywhere. I've been to him twice all the way from Alabama, and I could go to anyone. Of course he has guys to come see him from all over the country and Europe. You won't be sorry!
  3. Great advise Smoothy! Man, you're all over most of these subjects. I was thinking the same thing about waiting until after his Sr year, you and I know what one's head goes thru. I lift weights and appreciate your advise on the supplements. Thanks!
  4. I agree with Smoothy, it's not the propecia or MSM. I take both and have had no problem with oily scalp. Go get the Nizoral that smoothy mentioned, it should take care of your scalp problem. It also has a DHT blocker which should helps with hairloss. Good luck!
  5. ts, Do you already have the tatoo? There was a discussion on here about the fact that over time tatoos actually change color. You might want to check the archives for this conversation, or at least be very careful about getting the tatoo before learning all about it. I don't think the darkened color would inhibit a top doc from giving you a great HT, because they use highly magnifying glasses to make the incisions and place the hairs. I can't see how that would be any different from working on a dark skinned person.
  6. EastCoast, I'm sure Dr Shapiro was simply telling him that, based upon his very thick donar hair, that he would have plenty of donor hair for future transplants even if his hairline loss progressed. We don't know "exactly" what was said and under what circumstances. Doc may have been making a general comment about his situation. I know Doc was very candid about my hairloss and the amount of my donor hair. You won't find anyone more conservative when it comes to future requirements then Dr Shapiro.
  7. Hi Eric, You echo the thoughts of many folks that have been thru the same experiences. This website was absolutely invaluable to me when I had my HT. I feel very fortunate to have been steered to Dr Shapiro for my two HT's.
  8. Dandare, I also had a problem with 5% Minox irrating my scalp, and brother did it ever itch! Dr Feller suggested using Minox for the recipient area for faster growth, so I use 2%. Even Dr Shapiro now recommends using it for a few months for faster growth.
  9. I have put my full faith and confidence in Dr Ron Shapiro on two separate occasions and can't imagine a better HT doc.
  10. HK, Oh, sure we've heard of Dr True, he's a very good HT doc. You'll be mucho happy about a year down the road. Congrats on finally making the decision to better your life. Good growing!
  11. Bluesman, Shapiro did a great job with your hairline, could anything be more natural!? I think you have wonderful density, and hair that won't quit. Dr Shapiro did my two HT's, and he is definately an artist!
  12. Hi Dr Beehner, Thank you so very much for taking time out of your busy scehdule to provide excellent information. It is input such as yours that makes sites such as this one so informative and helpful!
  13. Mario, I must agree in every way with your assesment of Dr Shapiro. He did both of my procedures and he simply demands that you get the very best procedure possible. He always considers the future, and works putting it all together. Very down to earth and considerate. Top notch in every way! Absolutely undetectable work, even close up!

    Question

Eric, I wouldn't be that worried about this unless your HT is not going well. Then it might be an indication of a carelessly run shop. But if your HT is coming along well I wouldn't sweat it. It's what's on your head now and what it's doing that is of major importance. Good luck!
  15. Gethair, I agree with Robert you can't go wrong with Epstein and Shapiro. I don't know anything about Konior or his work. I researched all the top docs before I had my HT, and I went with Shapiro. I like the fact that he's at the top of his skill class, and is an artist at undetectable hair replacement. But the thing that I esp liked was that he's not gonna leave you without hair in the back to cover your scar and be naturally good looking. He will tell you he plans for the future, that appealed to me. This is My personal story.
