Is this proof that Propecia is accellerating my miniturization (pic)

I have been taking Propecia for a little over a year and I have suspected that it was making things but I have trusted the academic studies etc and have continued to take it.

 

Since I started taking it, I have had increased itching in the MPB prone areas. At times it feels as though my scalp is being stabbed with small needles. I never felt this sensation before taking propecia.

 

I have also noticed a few hairs that look like this. As you can see in the picture, at one end the hair shaft is completely thick, and at the root end it is miniaturized. This is not an illusion, it is easily seen with the naked eye. It seems as though something has aggressively caused this hair to miniaturize as the transition from a normal diameter hair to a miniaturized hair is sudden. I have confirmed that the root is at the miniaturized end.

 

Help?

 

I might add that I very very rarely miss a dose. I source my Propecia from legitimate brick and mortar pharmacies and I alternate between pills from different pharmacies everyday just to be absolutely sure that I'm getting a legitimate product.

I would like a doctor to reply to this, but I do not think that this is proof that you are miniaturizing that fast. I really thought that the the hair miniaturizes with each growth cycle when you are balding, not during the growth cycle. I could be wrong.

Or it could simply be a follicle that is shrinking and not a follicle that was MADE to shrink by fin right?

There is no scale in this picture. How long/old is this hair? If you've been taking Propecia for over a year and the miniaturization happened a few months ago, it might have nothing to do with the pill.

 

Where on your head did this hair originate? If it's from the frontal 3rd, where Propecia is ineffective, then it might have nothing to do with the pill.

Propecia is NOT a perfect drug, and it usually works most effectively in the vertex and midscalp regions. If this hair came from the temple or frontal region of the scalp, it's likely that your body simply isn't responding to Propecia in these areas.

 

However, I think it's very difficult (if not impossible) to state that the drug is actually making your hair loss worse. Keep in mind that Propecia is associated with an initial shedding phase that usually lasts 3-4 months, and the perception of increased hair loss during this time is not uncommon.

I really thought that the the hair miniaturizes with each growth cycle when you are balding, not during the growth cycle. I could be wrong.

 

Classically, this is what you see with androgenic alopecia; each anagen cycle will be shorter and the hair produced will exhibit a thinner shaft diameter and a "finer" appearance with each cycle.
