Hello,

So i have started getting more serious now for the HT and also scheduled my first appointment with Dr Griffin in Atlanta..Was just wondering what sort of questions should I ask him when I go over there apart from discussing my hairline .

Thanks

Definately have the doc give you as accurate a read as possible on your total donor supply. In this way, you and he can make better decisions on your overall life time strategy in using your available donor. Not enough people do this IMO.

If your a NW 5 for example and have a total supply of 6000 grafts, your overall approach would be far different than if your supply was 10,000+.

Good luck

I would ask him about medical treatments such as Finasteride (Propecia) and Minoxidil (Rogaine) and how to maintain your hair after a transplant. It's good to know about these types of things before the procedure is actually done.

not in any order:

What is FUT

Side affects?

Any Scars

What is FUE?

Can you take Body hair to FUE?

Side affects?

Any Scars

Will It Be Painful? How Much Time Will It Take?

Risks of transplant?

Overall outcome/results

How many Grafts would I need / Cost

What follow-up examinations and tests will I undergo? How frequently?

Looking ahead 5 - 20 yrs.

What medications will I take after I leave the clinic and how much will they cost and for how long will I need to take them for?

What about treatments like Propecia, Avodart or Rogaine

However, neither Propecia nor Avodart has been proven to restore hair in the frontal areas. For reasons yet unknown these drugs, along with Rogaine, only work generally in regrowing hair in back crown area of the scalp.????

How many transplants do you perform at your clinic each year?

Talk to previous patients / see photos

miniaturisation mapping as part of planning for your procedure

Make sure your surgeon has a masterplan to make sure your future loss is catered to and also measures to prevent any future loss
