This patient decided to have surgery after struggling with hair loss for twenty years. Dr. Friedman transplanted 3,821 grafts to this patient. 1,150 single hairs were transplanted to the anterior and posterior hairline and bilaterally in the temple region. 2,671 follicular units were transplanted to the frontal region, mid scalp, and anterior vertex. Results are pictures after 1 year post-op and patient is very happy with the coverage from his first surgery. This patient has decided to have a second surgery to add more density and we look forward to helping him further his goals for his hair.

I think this surgery is a little disappointing in terms of coverage. It looks natural, but given the fact that it was concentrated in the front, I would have expected greater thickness. Was the hair calibre very fine?

Considering that the patient was almost completely bald on top, I'd say the results are very good. The second surgery should make a dramatic difference. I'm looking forward to seeing the results after that one.

I agree. This guy looks to have something around 200cm2 to fill up and at 3,800 grafts that averages out around 19g/cm2. I would imagine that was concentrated in the frontal half so it didn't spread evenly but, even then, the density is not going to be brilliant given the space needed to fill.

 

As such I'd say the results look pretty solid and, as a previous poster mentioned, stand up well on their own. A second pass will hopefully be able to near enough double his density in key areas and that should give him a very good head of hair, although even at the moment it's looking pretty decent considering the size of the case.
