Patient was a younger patient and didn't want the linear scar. He opted for the Artas procedure that leaves a pin like scar. The patient knew that he would need 2 procedures to fill in the areas because he wanted a denser look. Patient is on a preventive method to stop future loss. We 1,204 mono's in the frontal region 1,196 multiple grafts in the frontal and mid-scalp to fill in. Patient is very happy with results and is ready to do his next surgery, you can see in the blue marks where we will be filling in. You can see a picture right after of the donor region. No down time. We wash the scalp the next day and your hair begins to grow in. Pictures were taken by patient.

We do not dense pack 10-20 or he would look very thin. If an average patient has 81 hairs per sq centimeter its not possible to gain that density after one surgery. If you divided the top of the scalp into 3 sections you would roughly have 20,000 hairs area. Of which most of those 20,000 were gone for this particular patient. Let say you replaced 6,000 hairs where he had 5,000 previous no after his first transplant he would have around half of what he had before he ever had a transplant. Thats what I make clear to every patient so they have clear expectations in their mind what one transplant will achieve.

I agree every physicians office needs to give realistic expectations.

Thank you for the response I did upload the lines pre-op as you can see we spend around 1200-1400 one hairs to fill in the temporal areas and temporal peaks. When there is an area with no hair the hair contracts to its center once it is healed, so the patient is well aware that there is going to probably going to need a second procedure.

Dr. Friedman is skilled at giving that youthful look back to patients. Dr. Friedman helps dense pack a hair line to create more density by using the coronal slit technique. While still making the patient look age appropriate now and in the future. The patient had come in for his first surgery and had 2,756 grafts. Dr. Friedman places 1,730 grafts in the hair line and temporal area. The patient wanted his hair line lowered and to help with the receding temples. The patient also likes to wear his hair short and wanted to keep a shaved hair cut. By Dr. Friedman using custom made blades we were able to achieve a very natural dense looking hair line. We also were able to conceal where the patient had his grafts taken out in the donor region. Patient is very happy with his results.

Female patient mid fifties concerned with her hair loss. The crown was thinning and having all over diffuseness. Patient was not using any topical to prevent or slow down the hair loss. The patient is on laser therapy to stop future hair loss and Dr. Friedman performed transplants in the crown area. The patient is ecstatic with the results and has maintained the hair by using Laser to stop the future progression of hair loss.

Our patient came to us at 29 years old wanting to recreate his front hairline and work back to the crown as much as possible. Dr. Shelly Friedman was able to transplant 3,227 grafts in this patient’s first surgery. 800 single hairs were placed in the anterior and posterior hairline bilaterally, and in the temples bilaterally. 2,427 follicular units were transplanted to the frontal region bilaterally, and the mid scalp bilaterally. This patient had stabilized his hair loss with Propecia and at 30 years old wanted to replace the hair that he had previously lost. This patient first noticed hair loss 8 years ago, noting gradual hair loss over the frontal region and then spreading to the crown. Patient’s after pictures are after his second surgery 1 year post-op. His first surgery was 2,973 grafts. 900 single hairs were placed in the anterior hairline bilaterally and temples bilaterally. 2,073 follicular units were placed bilaterally in the frontal region, bilateral in the mid-scalp, and bilateral anterior vertex. After a successful first surgery our patient chose to have a second procedure to add density to the existing transplant. Dr. Friedman transplanted 737 single hairs in the anterior hair line bilaterally, posterior hair line bilaterally, and the temple region bilaterally. 1,534 follicular units were placed in the bilateral frontal region and bilateral vertex. Patient is extremely satisfied with the final result and continues to keep in touch with our office.

This 33 year old male patient had experienced hair loss for 11 years before considering a transplant. Patient had also had been in car accident resulting in a maxillofacial reconstructive surgery. This patient not only wanted a younger look but coverage of his visible scar from reconstructive surgery. Dr. Shelly Friedman was able transplant a total of 2,656 grafts. 1,100 single hairs were placed in the anterior and posterior hairline bilaterally, as well as the temples and scars were placed bilaterally in the posterior. 1,556 follicular units were transplanted in the frontal region bilaterally and the anterior mid-scalp. The patient is pictured at 7 months and already happy with the results, especially the coverage of his scar and his grafts are only growing at 50% currently. We will follow up with him again at the 1 year mark to follow up and look at another surgery to add more density.

This patient came to us seeking more density in the hair line. We did explain he may need a second surgery to increase the density after his surgery, at the one year mark he is very happy with his results and over all improved appearance. Dr. Shelly Friedman transplanted 2311 grafts total using custom made blades and artistic ability to give the patient what he wanted. 600 single hairs were placed in the anterior hair line bilaterally and the temples bilaterally. 1711 follicular units were placed in the bilateral posterior hairline and bilateral vertex.

This 35 year old female came to us after struggling with hair loss for the last five years. These results are from 90 days after starting a laser therapy protocol and following a strict schedule. Patient washed hair daily with a regular PH balanced shampoo. We also always advise to use a vasodilator to help with blood flow for the first 90-120 days to accelerate the benefits of low laser therapy. The patient is already happy with her results and feels more concealed and confident. We will continue to follow her for the next year monitoring and posting her results.

Thank you for the comments in regards to the latest post. The hair was not combed over as you can see in her previous "before picture" it is growing in that direction. The "after" photo is only 2 1/2 months after her before picture. I completely felt the same way about laser. I felt it was snake oil and that it was a con... When our colleagues started using laser therapy and telling us of the results they experienced we purchased our first unit. I treated patients for a year free of charge to see what it could do. It was trial an error at first to see what worked. Now we have it down, we have been using laser for the past 5 years. We have our patients use laser cap in conjunction with using our lasers in our office. We have a routine that works with the patients as long as they are consistent we can stop the loss and hopefully reverse the miniaturization. Again, this is not guaranteed but since women don’t have many options- we feel it’s been crucial in combating hair loss. Studies have shown since the 60’s that they have known that laser are beneficial for hair loss. It's just now over the past 10 or so years that it is getting alot of exposure. Again, you have to be a candidate for laser and have miniaturization to see results of more density. Many people use the comb for 20 mins and don't see a difference. The problem is its 20 mins in each area not total for the entire scalp. The key is patient education on laser and correct usage. We of course use not only photo’s and microscopic photo’s to gage the success but we use a hair check system. This measures a 2x2 sq. centimeter of the worst area. It is measured so we get the exact area again to track the success. The unit gives us a read of the exact amount of density and we re-check every 6 months. This gives us a more comprehensive look at the patients density and their loss. This way it’s not just the photo’s that we are showing . But its something tangible showing they are having success or not.

Patient had been experiencing hair loss for quite awhile. She couldn’t get her hair to grow longer than 2inches. Patient came to us in hopes of not using her wig anymore. Patient kept a consistent routine with laser treatment. Patient saw within a few months a dramatic acceleration in hair growth and an overall thickening of the hair. Female patient in her 50’s came to us with a 20 year history of hair loss. She was using Rogaine to help stop loss but didn’t see any results. Patient used extensions as camouflage but actually caused more damage. After 5 years of using extensions she was able to take them out. The patient began to use laser therapy according to our protocol and at 9 months she had her first haircut in years. The patient is maintaining her results and is very satisfied with the results of laser therapy.

The patient is very happy so far. Imagine what a year will bring once all the grafts are growing and reaching full maturity! Carly

Thank you for your comments! The patient was concerned over sexual side affects using medications. Rogaine or any of the topicals are merely vaso dilators which do not reach the root hence why you don't get very good results. We have a 93%-95% success rate in stopping hair loss using laser therapy. This patient is in his 50's. We are successful because we are conservative in who we put on our program. You need to have miniaturized hairs to see a difference. A lot of people don't do their laser consistently or do long enough sessions- this is crucial for great results! I was a huge cynic when it came to laser, after 5 years of doing it I'm amazed. We will be posting our patients pictures every other week to show results. Carly

This 50 year old patient came to us having had a previous hair transplant and still seeing loss. He was not using Propecia or any form of hair loss prevention after his surgery. Patient continued to see diffuse thinning in the mid vertex, vertex, and crown. Following our protocol with laser therapy the patient had excellent results and is thrilled. He currently continues the schedule and is maintaining his results.
