Minoxidil (kirkland 5%) + Proscalpin (finasteride 1mg) 2 months

So i've used the 5% kirkland foam for about 3 months+, just at nights, and proscalpin 1mg finasteride for about 2 months. I Experienced an insane shed in the beginning using minoxidil, and it messed up my hairline pretty bad, but I'm seing regrowth at my temples now. I started the finasteride and atm i'm experiencing a pretty bad shed aswell. My question is, how come am i seing regrowth at my temples, but not at the top, which is thinning quite badly? And can i expect the hair i've ben shedding to grow back stronger? Im mostly worried about the minoxidil showing regrowth at my temples but not the top though :( And btw. Anyone used, or heard of proscalpin before??

Hope you'll give me some advice here..

Just to mention i've ben having some itchy scalp problems aswell, but getting better as i'm using nizoral.. Maybe Nizoral affecting my hair aswll?

andreas904,

Unfortunately, it's impossible to predict just what Rogaine will do for you in the long run. But, you are still very early in the process. In general, the first two to three months is the shedding phase. Initial growth doesn't normally appear until the fourth month.

We recommend that anyone starting medical hair loss treatments continue using them for one full year before assessing their results.

Most hairs that are shed should regrow thicker and darker. Those that were on the verge of permanent loss may not regrow. Hairs that are genetically resistant to the effects of genetic hair loss will not become dependent on medical hair loss treatments so you should have no fear of becoming balder for having started Rogaine.

Good luck!

We have to keep in mind that all hairs are not on the same growth cycle. As David said, after the 4th to 6th month, all the week and thin hair will have fallen off only to be replace by new, stronger, and thicker hair. Regrowing hair is like growing grass from seedlings, it will take some patience. Keep the faith!

Welcome Andreas-

The shedding after starting your regimen above is very normal....and as the others here have said, you must give it some time to begin to work. At this stage, I would definitely not focus on the hair you are losing as a negative. Stressing yourself out over it is not any better for your hair....so try to be positive and know that most of us went through the same shed when we first started on the meds. The longer you use the treatments, the more improvement you will see. Things will stabilize soon for you. In answer to your question, I have never heard of Proscalpin before, however if the active ingredient is 1mg of Finasteride, then it should be the equivalent of a pill of Propecia, or a 1/4 pill of Proscar......and both are recommended treatments for battling hair loss! Keep us posted in the next few months on your progress as the meds begin to kick in!

Best,

Mike

Thank you for your answers!

It's very nice to hear other guys experiences.. I'll try to wait it out.

It's just that, im concerned about the side effects, more than when i started.. I think i'm beginning to see wrinkles under my eyes and my forehead o_0 No finasteride side effects, except a litle sore and swollen nipples.. Is this normal? Sorry for all my nooby questions, and thank you again..
