Regular Member ronzues Posted August 19, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted August 19, 2012 I am four days into a transplant. I have started on Propecia about 1 month ago but also want to start doing what I can with other options as well. If I added one more thing what would you suggest? Laser or Rogaine? Also, if the answer is Rogaine is it better to use the foam or the spray? I have read on here in the Product section that the foam has a higher success rate. 85% compared to 64%. Then, is one of them more of a pain to put on than the other, meaning if I want to style my hair with gel or something like that can I still do that with either of these? Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted August 20, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted August 20, 2012 ronzues, For hair growth, your best bet is to add Rogaine (minoxidil) to your regimen. It is said to work synergistically with Propecia (finasteride). I prefer foam to liquid. I've not used a minoxidil spray. The foam goes on easily, dries fast and is not greasy. I'm currently using the newly released generic minoxidil foam. David - Former Forum Co-Moderator and Editorial Assistant I am not a medical professional. Senior Member bonkerstonker Posted August 20, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted August 20, 2012 Mate seriously take a bonkerstonker First class ticket to reality get on minoxidil of any 5% kind it works well, do not by a lazer they do not work at all they're a waste of money and a waste of your time. The only way I'd buy a lazer would be for my sharks so I could own sharks with lazer beams like Dr Evil in Austin powers! Bonkerstonker! http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=1977 Update I'm now on 12200 Grafts, hair loss has been a thing of my past for years. Also I don't use minoxidil anymore I lost no hair coming off it. Reduced propecia to 1mg every other day. My surgeons were Dr Hasson x 4, Dr Wong x 2 Norton x1 I started losing my hair at 19 in 1999 I started using propecia and minoxidil in 2000 Had 7 hair transplants over 12200 grafts by way of strip but 700 were Fue From Norton in uk
Senior Member gobble Posted August 20, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted August 20, 2012 5% minoxidil in the liquid form made my head burn/flake. Foam works great for me.
Regular Member ronzues Posted August 31, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 31, 2012 Thanks guys! Takingtheplunge, So that generic foam is the same or at least just as good as Rogaine?
Regular Member Brad3451 Posted August 31, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted August 31, 2012 Used liquid for years then stopped for a while then started again and made my head itch pretty bad. I have heard of others having similar problems. Switched to Foam and it works well with no irritation. Grow well and the best of luck!
Regular Member ronzues Posted September 4, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted September 4, 2012 Question for you all, I bought 5% Rogaine Foam tonight and have started the treatment. As you may already know I am a little more than 2 weeks post op and I have quite a bit of shock loss. So here's the question.. With the shock loss, and then taking Propecia for only a month or so, and now starting Rogaine, am I doing too much at one time? With all the shock loss and shedding caused by Propecia and Rogaine will I have anything left in a few weeks?

Regular Member hairtodaygonetmrw2 Posted March 13, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted March 13, 2013 I'm actually experiencing this right now as well. At week 2, and shock loss with the use of the liquid minox/finasteride combination has kicked in. Did you stop the rogaine foam? Did you recover from the shockloss? Regular Member ronzues Posted March 30, 2013 Author Regular Member Share Posted March 30, 2013 I did not stop the Rogain. I continued as my doctor instructed and the shock loss and shedding eventually stopped. I still take Proscar every other day and Rogain foam every morning and evening. Hair has come in nicely. Senior Member AllAboutHair Posted March 30, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted March 30, 2013 I tried liquid, foam, gel and spray. But I prefer spray. We can control the amount and spread evenly on entire head with spray.

Senior Member Calgacus Posted March 31, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted March 31, 2013 i use kirkwood minoxidil foam in the morning and use the 1ml drop in the evening. 2 months into it now. That along with 1.25g of finasteride (prostacom) once a day. So far lots of shedding, even baldier than ever .....but I remain optimistic. Regimen: Finasteride (1.25mg): Daily. Minoxidil (5%): Twice Daily. Super Biotin (5000mcg) Vitamin Supplement; Daily Silica Complex; Daily
