Regular Member Angelino Posted April 22, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted April 22, 2012 I have a little swelling in the bridge of my nose area and just above. Its my 4th day post op. Any suggestions on how to lessen this? Or how long it takes to go away. I've read here icing isn't a good idea. Its not terrible, but I'll have to go back to work in about two days and hope its gone or drastically less by then.
Senior Member England Posted April 22, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted April 22, 2012 Supposedly drinking a lot of water helps, the fluids have to flow down your face and when it reaches your lower body and neck it will be released through your lymph nodes. Dr Feriduni provided me with an ice pack to help it along but I didn't use it. I think you may find that in 2 days some swelling is still visible but it should look a bit better than it does now, however it may look worse before it looks better over the next couple of days as it goes to your eyes. In my personal view there's not a great deal you can do to stop it, it's just one of those things you have to ride out.
Senior Member Bucksred Posted April 22, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted April 22, 2012 I had swelling around my eye on the 3rd day, I contacted my Dr and Spex (hair vet on here) and they said it would go down in the next few days. They were right, two days and I was back to normal. It was a little concerning, I know how you might feel. Senior Member RCWest Posted April 22, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted April 22, 2012 Swelling comes from the tumescing fluid (anesthesia and epinephrine) working it's way down. Some peoples bodies absorb it better than others. It will be gone in another day or two. I always swelled by day 2 and it went away by day 5. Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily Avodart 0.5 mg. daily Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily 5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily Biotin 1000 mcg daily Multi Vitamin daily Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? Dr. Glenn Charles
Icing generally only has an effect in the first 24 hrs. If sweeling occurs it is usually the 3rd or 4th day post-op and you just need to let it take its course. It should have no bearing on the results of the procedure.
