Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted January 30, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 30, 2012 Over the last several years, over 51 lawsuits have been filed against Merck Phamaceuticals, maker of the popular hair loss drug Propecia (finasteride). Individuals filing these lawsuits claim that the drug causes irreversible sexual dysfunction and also assert that Merck did not adequately warn patients about the potential side effects. Recently, Merck requested that all 51 of these cases be consolidated into one class-action lawsuit and moved to proceedings in the state of New Jersey. What does this mean for Propecia? Do the potential side effects need to be reexamined and clearly labeled on prescription bottles? To review the ongoing situation, please see the report at our popular Hair Loss Q & A Blog: Federal Consolidation of Lawsuits Against Hair Loss Drug Propecia (Finasteride) "Doc" Blake Bloxham - formerly "Future_HT_Doc" Forum Co-Moderator and Editorial Assistant for the Hair Transplant Network, the Hair Loss Learning Center, the Hair Loss Q&A Blog, and the Hair Restoration Forum All opinions are my own and my advice does not constitute as medical advice. Regular Member sc64 Posted January 30, 2012 Regular Member Posted January 30, 2012 I wonder why we never seen a lawsuit on proscar the 5mg pill to treat BPH for older men,it come out before propecia and you would think the sides would have been in some of these men and then some hard to believe that propecia would cause more damage than proscar that we hear about in the last few years in the younger men that take the cosmetic drug that is 4 times the lower dose.but anytime a lawsuit comes around you will have a few fakers joining in just for the cash, but I'm not saying that sides don't happen but don't believe all the cases are real. Looks like the maker of propecia are going to save face and settle and change the labels and have one sign off at your own risk like you would a hair transplant since it's cosmetic.

Because Proscar is taken for Benigh Prostate Hyperplesia, an illness that affects sexuality anyway.
