Senior Member Buzz2 Posted January 20, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 20, 2012 Hi I am interested to know of the temporary shockloss the regular posters on here experienced when having their transplants. I am really concerned about this as my date it becoming closer and I am unable to wear a hat to work. A lot of people have mentioned that their shock loss % was quite high , but in all of these casesI have noticed that they have had many grafts planted. I presume this will make a difference as its quite a big trauma to the scalp. Also, I am presuming a number of gratfs in a small area will have a negative affect ? I may only be having approx 2000 grafts throughout , so im hoping this wont have much of an effect. I would aslo of been on Propecia for 8 months and am willing to shave my hair. Can anyone advise on their experience and on the chance of having no shockloss ??? Bonkerstonker & Dutch - thanks for all your help on my previous post. HT No1 : Nobel clinic, Gatwick 500 grafts - Terrible result, left with bumpy skin HT No2 : Marwan Saifi 1680 grafts. Great result HT No3 - Marwan Saifi 1250 grafts. Another good result. HT No4 - Hakan Doganay 2134 grafts. Result TBA Total 5134 grafts.
Senior Member RCWest Posted January 20, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 20, 2012 Propecia is supposed to all but eliminate the chance of shock loss, according to Dr. Rassman. Also, shaving the recipient area helps the doctor to more accurately make incisions so existing hair won't he harmed. Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily Avodart 0.5 mg. daily Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily 5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily Biotin 1000 mcg daily Multi Vitamin daily Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1?

Senior Member tarepanda Posted January 21, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 21, 2012 I am not a regular poster but i will give you my experience of shockloss. At my recipient area, shockloss was minimum but still noticeable to myself if i start comparing my before and after photos. At the donor area, my shockloss was very serious. I am on propecia and minoxidil for more than 1 yr pre ht and i dun really think propecia will reduce the amount of shockloss.
Senior Member N-6 Posted January 21, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 21, 2012 This is a medical question, why don't u talk to your doc?
Senior Member Buzz2 Posted January 21, 2012 Author Senior Member Posted January 21, 2012 Tarepanda - Many thanks N-6 - I appreciate, that and I have asked my doc , just waiting for a response. I just want to get an idea on what people have experienced on here as it slightly concerns me. Regular Member oceanchild Posted January 21, 2012 Regular Member Posted January 21, 2012 There is always chance of shockloss in HT. That's the risk we need to take while going in HT route. There is a very nice writing by Spex regarding shock loss. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/143063-shockloss.html My Hair Loss Web Site
Senior Member chrisdav Posted January 21, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 21, 2012 I don't think you can ever completely eliminate shockloss Buzz2, as you can see from different forum members transplant experiences. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. However, it is reduced by a highly skilled surgeon and i wouldn't let that put you off. You can always use concealer to help you through that uncomfortable period. 2 poor unsatisfactory hair transplants performed in the UK. Based on vast research and meeting patients, I travelled to see Dr Feller in New York to get repaired.
Senior Member Buzz2 Posted January 21, 2012 Author Senior Member Posted January 21, 2012 I had a really bad transplant with the Nobel clinic in Gatwick about 10 years ago wich has left me with a loads of bumps on my scalp. I wasnt even aware that shiockloss could occur. Luckily I didnt have any then , but it doesnt mean I wont have any now. My hair is a bit thinner now though and looking back , I really didnt need a HT at all. Many say I dont now , but I'd lick to be able to wear my hair a bit longer and style it rather than having the buzzed look. Im thinking of telling everyone about the HT, I mean theres so many people having them these days.
