Senior Member irishsailor Posted November 4, 2011 Senior Member Posted November 4, 2011 Hi everyone, was just looking for some advice please. I was considering adding rogaine foam to my daily regime. How long should you wait after your HT to start on rogaine? Kind Regards Steve:) Hair Transplant Dr Feller Oct 2011 Hair Transplant Dr Lorenzo June 2014
Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted November 4, 2011 Senior Member Posted November 4, 2011 irishsailor, In my opinion, you should wait a minimum of two weeks but I always recommend that patients seek the advice of their hair transplant surgeon. Regular Member Chael Posted November 5, 2011 Regular Member Posted November 5, 2011 From the research I have done on this website, the general consensus is generally always 2 weeks. My dr suggested me to start from 2 weeks onwards also. I've been doing it and so far so good. No irritation or itchines of the scalp.
Senior Member irishsailor Posted November 5, 2011 Author Senior Member Posted November 5, 2011 Chael, Many thanks for the reply. Yeah most of the advice i have been given now says 2 weeks. I will prob start at that point myself, just wanted to check and be sure, didnt want to do anything to damage my grafts:) Hair Transplant Dr Feller Oct 2011 Hair Transplant Dr Lorenzo June 2014
jessie1 Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Do Doctors endorse the use of minox following a HT. It's never formed part of my debrief or follow up. Is it seen as complimentary to post op recovery (past the 2 week period or whatever) Jessie
Senior Member JayWalker Posted November 5, 2011 Senior Member Posted November 5, 2011 I started back on it after 2 weeks as per my doctors instructions. http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/journal.asp?CopyID=10024&WebID=2832 October 2011 - 1647 FUT - Dr Dorin January 2014 - 1580 FUT - Dr Dorin
Senior Member irishsailor Posted November 5, 2011 Author Senior Member Posted November 5, 2011 Jaywalker, Did you find rogaine made a big difference? As a newbie i'm still learning as i go. I have heard it works well with propecia, but have also heard people have lost more native hair due to taking rogaine. Kind Regards:) Hair Transplant Dr Feller Oct 2011 Hair Transplant Dr Lorenzo June 2014
Senior Member JayWalker Posted November 5, 2011 Senior Member Posted November 5, 2011 Its really too early for me to say, as Im only just over 3 weeks out of my op. I had been on Rogaine for about 6-7 weeks before I had my procedure and was just starting to see some very very minor regrowth in one of my temples. I will stick with it, as its relatively inexpensive and only takes a few minutes to apply. http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/journal.asp?CopyID=10024&WebID=2832 October 2011 - 1647 FUT - Dr Dorin January 2014 - 1580 FUT - Dr Dorin
Senior Member irishsailor Posted November 5, 2011 Author Senior Member Posted November 5, 2011 Thanks for the reply. Yeah i think i will give it a try and see what happens. I wouldn't mind if it just thickened my hair up abit just before the crown area. Not sure what that area is referred to. Dr feller said i had good density around my crown and below. I had work done to my front 1/3, would be good to try anything that will hold on to my native hair. Thanks again:) Hair Transplant Dr Feller Oct 2011 Hair Transplant Dr Lorenzo June 2014
