Anyone have an opinion about post op scarring products

At risk of being accused of linking a promotional site I wanted to ask docs and patents what their opinion of post op so-called ointments and treatments, particularly this pad aimed specifically at scars by Neosporin, had if any in healing well.

Yes neosporin is name brand, no i'm not promoting their products, but i think it's universally acknowledged that they are a trustworthy medication company, i hope this link to the product in question isn't pounced on in the wrong spirit, i'm trying to understand the merits of it, not sell it to you:

NEOSPORIN® Scar Solution

Received 2,700 grafts with coalition doctor on 8/13/2010

Received 2,380 grafts with Dr. Steven Gabel on 9/30/2011

Merderma is a great scarring product
What's it do? Explain, is it like the neosporin product I linked?

Mederma info: Mederma® Scar Gel | Mederma.com

Mederma is a gel, Neosporin Scar Solution is a silicone sheet. Sheets won't work on your scalp because the hair will prevent them from laying flat on the skin.

Most clinics will give you an anti-bacteria gel for post-op to reduce the chances of infection. They're not really intended to reduce scarring.

Scar gels shouldn't be used until the staples/sutures are removed and the scabs are gone.

I haven't seen conclusive proof that they produce any benefit.
