Would you suggest 5000+ ? 2) in caucasian men I have been told the doner hair is very good for yield and Asian men it is less. Anyone know the yield Indian men? Senior Member Thehairupthere Posted August 2, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 2, 2011 5000 grafts is a very large amount of grafts for a norwood 4, you can probably get a great result with 2500-3000 grafts but that is hard to say without actually seeing photos. The yield for the procedure should be the same for most people it just depends on the skill of the surgeon. I am a consultant for Dr. True and Dr. Dorin. These opinions are my own. Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted August 2, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 2, 2011 JD, I read a hair transplantation textbook a few years back, and it claims that Asian and African-American patients typically have lower donor region density (i.e. lower yield) compared to Caucasians hair loss sufferers. Obviously, this is quite variable and likely subjective, and the textbook also did not mention donor yield in Indian patients. However, due to the number of successful cases performed on Indian patients each year, I don't think your ethnicity would be a determining factor for hair transplantation in and of itself. However, keep in mind that you could have thinning in the donor region simply based upon your personal balding pattern, but this is more individual genetics and not ethnic/population derived. As far as estimating the number of follicular unit grafts you may require, have you used our hair loss learning center graft calculator? It can be a helpful tool for obtaining a rough approximation of the number of grafts you need to properly fill the areas of balding scalp. I hope this helps!
