Does donor density change with age?

For many men, the hair on the top of our heads is programmed get less dense as we get older. Does the same happen in the back of our heads where donor hair exists? If so, doesn't this make surgery much more risky? Is there any way to know?

I think way up on age it does....but way on up....if you are taling 40's and 50's and early 60's....I do not think so...

Donor density can thin out somewhat as you age however, this thinning is typically minimal. A rare few men however, do experience significant donor thinning as they age.

Remember however, that nothing in life is truly permanent which includes hair transplant surgery. The idea is to provide you with as much hair as possible for as long as possible. The good news is however, the majority of patients who've undergone successful hair transplant surgery will keep their transplanted hair for their entire lives with only a small possibility of minimal thinning as they get older.

Best wishes,

Bill

I would imagine that the donor thinning would result in a diffuse thinning at the recipient zone that would look natural. This seems logical to me.

But if the donor area is too thin as to be depleted and the front is still somewhat thin and the crown balds completely, I'm just wondering what the chances are of looking freakish at an old age.
