mrgiant
Hi, here's my issue, i'm 21 and my hair has started to bald in both the front and back its beginning to thin out -- i know transplants are not a great idea at this age as i have no idea how far the balding will go so i'm planning on waiting a few years -- a question i have though is that if i do end up getting a transplant later on will i need to take propecia to keep the transplanted hair? i don't want to take any drugs whatsoever. thanks for reading, mrg
Senior Member Tom60 Posted October 5, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted October 5, 2010 the whole point of getting the ht is so that we dont have to use propecia.
Senior Member RCWest Posted October 5, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted October 5, 2010 The only reason you wouldn't need it is if you were completely bald and had a final hair loss pattern. If you have any kind of hair left outside of the donor area, Propecia is a great idea. Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily Avodart 0.5 mg. daily Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily 5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily Biotin 1000 mcg daily Multi Vitamin daily Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted October 5, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted October 5, 2010 Mr Giant, Like Spex said, remember that hair transplantation replaces hair that you've lost, but it does not cease progressive balding. If you're experiencing hair loss and considering hair transplantation (also, at 21 you are, traditionally, a bit young for a hair transplant procedure and should investigate preventive methods such as finasteride (Propecia) and minoxidil (Rogaine) first), it's definitely a good idea to stabilize and prevent future loss through medication (such as Propecia). This will really optimize your restoration!
