Senior Member Cant decide Posted September 27, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted September 27, 2010 Can anyone recommend a good travel pillow to use post op while sleeping on a recliner to limit donor contact with the chair? backspace
IMO stay away from any memory foam neck pillows. They have a strong chemical smell that never completely goes away and the one I purchased was not soft enough at all for any post-op comfort. Complete waste of money. Senior Member Tom60 Posted September 28, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted September 28, 2010 i would also recommend a neck pillow. Would there be any contact with your new set?
Dr. Glenn Charles
Sleeping in a reclining chair is not really necessary. Only 15-20 degrees of elevation is all that is needed to give the post-op patient the best chance of minimal swelling in the forehead area. I have seen air inflated and bean bag type neck pillows that are sold a travel or luggage stores will usually do the trick. If you go without a neck pillow I recommend putting a towel down on the top pillow the first night. This will absorb any blood that may ooze from the donor wound.
