I have uploaded my head pics please guys tell me is it a male pattern baldness or not? If it is then can anyone tell at which norwood level i am? M0reover i am on propecia 0.5mg and rogaine 1ml twice daily from last 20 days but it didn't helped me and even making my hair shed more than before. I m so hopeless as my hairs are thining with so much speed. Can i regrow my hairs back from current condition? Did i cut down my hairs. Wil it help in reducing hair shedding? Currently i didn't notice any side effect. Did this mean i m on safe side or i wil hv to face sides later or it is due to my very low dose of propecia? Help me guys waiting for your replys.

Its hard to tell from pics mate. Your hair appears wet in pictures. I suggest you post some pictures in dry hair. Also, push your hair back in a couple of pictures to reveal your hairline. This will allow forum members to gauge the extent of your hair loss correctly. Steroids can definitiely cause hair loss. If you love your hair, stay away from them. As far as Finasteride is concerned, 20 days is too early to tell if its working for you. I made the mistake of taking Finasteride even when I didnt need it. I started shedding like crazy and my hair went from extremely thick Norwood 1 to Norwood 2.5 in matter of 3 months. I stopped taking Finasteride after 3 months and the shedding stopped immediately. However, the hair that I lost during this period never grew back. I regret the day I took Finasteride. It destroyed my hairline along with my confidence. However, its just my personal experience. I wouldnt ask you to stop taking Finasteride. Finasteride has helped a lot of people as well.

Depends on what type of steroids you used. Most steroids stay in your system for up to 10-12 months after your last injection (injectable testosterone, deca, etc). Your past steroid use isn't causing the problem you are currently experiencing. Regarding Propecia, I would continue to use it because it takes several months to see any type of benefit. Good luck.

Qasim,

20 days is not nearly enough to determine if Rogaine and Propecia will benefit you. You will need to use these medications regularly for up to 6 months before you can judge their effectiveness. Hair only grows at a rate of 1/2" per month.

All the best,

Well i am agreed with you that steroids have only sides for a limited period and now after two year i don't think so they are culprits for my hairloss. I wil definately give time to propecia and rogaine to see there effectiveness but the current issue is i m losing a lot more hairs as compared to before starting treatment by using rogaine and finasteride. Is it normal to loss more hairs in the start of treatment?

I dont know why you are taking 0,5 mg Finasteride, 1 mg is usually the recommended dosage, I dont think that or Minoxidil will cause permanent shedding like someone above suggests, and you will need to take it for a few months before seeing results, you can see some extra shedding in the beginning, I for instance noticed some extra shedding now after beginning on Minoxidil again which I hadnt taken for a few months, but since I have been taking Minoxidil on and off for several years I know this hairs come back stronger than before so dont stop using Finasteride and Minoxidil, give it time and you will see the results (that is in most cases, some people it will not do anything for but for most it will at least stop or slow dramatically down the hair loss).

In regards to Steroids, they can definitely trigger more hair loss but since you haven't been taking them for two years I hardly think they are effecting you.

The pattern isn't a usual one according to the Norwood scale but dont worry about that, not all follow this pattern.

I hope this works out for you and you get your hair to its former glory.

Salvar,

Finasteride can and has caused hair loss not just to me but to many other people. There is an adverse reaction to it known as Reflex hyperandrogenicity in which hair becomes very oily and it sheds at a rapid pace within days or weeks of starting Finasteride. My hair had been dry for first 27 years of life and I never experienced shed, but it suddenly becomes extremely oily and I shed and thinned like I had never before in my life as soon as I start Finasteride. What should I deduce from it? All medications have adverse reactions and Finasteride is no exception, unfortunately.

A little update guys, My shedding is reducing now significantly i just notice less than 50 hairs on my pillow and maybe 20 to 30 hairs in shower. I m hoping it will keep on reducing and will halt soon. Here are some snaps i just have taken. I will keep you all updated with my results in this thread:-).

Hi Qasim,

Your hair looks good. You still have a lot of hair and you have caught it pretty early. Hope you get great results. I am from Lahore and have been suffering hair loss for 3 years now ( i m 22). So I know how you feel man.

Anyways I have been using genesis(finasteride) for two years and just wanted to ask you that what are you using? Is it genesis or some other generic finasteride. I have a little doubt about its legitimacy.

Thankyou.

Hi Qasim, your hair does look good. In my own opinion, I would say there is no need for transplantation at the moment. Maybe sticking to finisteride or rogaine would keep it from receding. Use 1mg of finisteride instead of .5mg. Are you using rogaine foam or the solution? At what percentage? Maybe you can even add Nizoral shampoo to your list? Your hair also looks thick in those pics. I would not worry too much man. Worrying alone adds to stress that adds to the effects of stress which could be hair loss. A good nights sleep, meals, and the proper dosage of what you take could do the trick to prevent it at this time. good luck

Well bro i am from rawalpindi and i am using finasteride named as 'hairfin' pills. I think genesis is also a similar brand nothing different in both, the key element is finasteride in both. Can u tell me about your results? How much u regain hairs and are you using any other treatment also with it like min0xdil or s0me thing else like that? What about side effects?

I am using rogain liquid. You are right i shouldn't mess with hairtransplantation right now. Well i will see in future that if i need to add nizoral to my regime or not. Studies have shown even 0.2mg of fin supress same amount of DHT as a 1mg can so i sticked with 0.5mg coz it may help me in reducing sides.
