Regular Member ezduzit Posted April 14, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted April 14, 2009 It's been a little while since I updated my progress. Changes in my growth are hard to see since my hair is short so I wanted to wait until there was enough change to see the difference. Front hair line region is starting to see growth and I no longer use concealer in the front. The scar area is still pretty visible so I still use concealer. I posted scar pics with and without the concealer. My Hair Loss Weblog - Hair Transplant with Dr. Lindsey
Senior Member Eman Posted April 15, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted April 15, 2009 YAY...It's about time we got an update from you!! Great to see you back and love the new hairline! It looks totally natural at the short length you are keeping it at. The concealing job looks great--you cannot even see it. Have you thought about growing it out a tad and trying to brush the hair surrounding it over the scar? I know you like your hair short as I do, but I have found when I grow mine out it actually looks pretty good. Again, I haven't grown out my hair in years and doing so now is kind of fun. Anyway, great to see you back and I love the results! My initial HT thread: done and done!! Check it out...
Regular Member ezduzit Posted April 15, 2009 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 15, 2009 Thanks for the comments Eman! It's hard keeping up with you cuz youre results are great! I've tried growing my hair out but there wasn't much of a difference for the scar appearance. Once I get more density in the front, I'll try growing it out some more. Senior Member wantego Posted April 15, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted April 15, 2009 Hey EZ thanks for all the great pics on your blog. I liked the donor pictures since they showed some things I would not ordinarily see. I can see some improvement for sure despite 6 months still being pretty early. How are you feeling about things? 4374 grafts-7/2/2008-Dr Rahal 485 singles 2336 doubles 1526 triples 16 quads 9809 total hairs
Senior Member HairHope Posted April 15, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted April 15, 2009 EZ, wonderful results at 6.5 months - looks perfectly natural and that cut is great on you. Question: I have thick hair like yourself, how do you get the Toppik to stick to the hair on the back of your head? Thanks. Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted April 15, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted April 15, 2009 EZ Thanks for posting. I think you are right on track. Although I remember where we started, next time you put up a progress report, can you throw up a preop scar pic for comparison? Dr. Lindsey William H. Regular Member maxhair Posted April 15, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted April 15, 2009 Even if someone did see the scar on the back of your head, how many people would actually know what it is or even think twice about it? Most people are oblivious. Looks fine to me. At worst it looks like your barber cropped it a little too close. Looks good overall. Regular Member ezduzit Posted April 15, 2009 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 15, 2009 Thanks for the encouragement guys! Wantego, My feeling is so far is that I'm going to wait to judge success or not. I'm happy with the implanted area. I'm being optimistic the scar will improve. I will measure the level of success at the 1 year mark. HairHope: I use a make-up pencil pad to apply the dermatch. The end of the pencil is a pad that's the width of the scar so the concealer stays on the scar and doesn't clump up. That makes a lot of sense. 6.5 months is very early and I do think things will continue to improve. You already show improvement for sure. Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted April 21, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted April 21, 2009 I think EZ's scar looks nearly perfect. For comparison, check out his preop scar at: http://hair-restoration-info.c...1087683/m/7381061793 I think he does have a bit of shockloss along the edges of the scar. You see this primarily due to his short hairstyle, and his curly/kinky hairs don't fall over and hide the scar like they do in straight hair-ed individuals. Or in curly hair-ed guys with longer hair such as: http://hair-restoration-info.c...?r=97810783#97810783 and : http://hair-restoration-info.c...=290100001#290100001 which shows the same fellow at 3 months. Only with my assistant's hands spreading his thick hair can you even see the scar. I would not in all likelyhood do anything more unless there were a problem. Remember...perfection is the enemy of good. I have seen lots of bad scars result from someone wanting "just a little more, doctor". I would rate this as an A job. The odds of getting an A+ and not winding up with a B, C or even F from another adventure into this area in a scar prone guy are not worth risking at present. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H.
