Update for new photos.

Hi everybody. I just went in to H&W again after four days for a checkup and these are the new photos. Everything looks good, just a little itchy.....icon_smile.gif

Hello everyone,

I am local here in Vancouver and I just had crown work completed with Dr Wong. In my youth, I have always had a full head of thick hair but started thinning in my early thirties. I had a bald spot that was just getting worse and I felt a little embarrased. I did not like this bald spot at all.

I tried shampoos and creams etc, and laser too, but nothing worked. I finally decided to try the hair restoration and made an appointment with Dr Wong. He was very friendly and knowledgable. He was thorough and explained my options with me. I made an appointment that same week.

The staff was very nice and made me feel very comfortable. After the procedure, I went home and accidently bumped my head! I returned the following day for a wash and Dr Wong assesed the damage which was minimal but fixed it. My overall experience with Hasson & Wong was excellent. I would recommend it to anyone who is concerned about their hair loss.

Qbert,

Thanks for sharing your experience and posting your photos. Dr. Wong does excellent work. 2500 grafts wil lmost likely not give you a super dense crown, but will certainly give you nice coverage and good overall cosmetic improvement.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Best wishes,

Bill

hey Qbert67

I like looking at crown work as i had my own crown done with Dr Feller in nov 2007 , your loss pattern is alot like my own , I had 2100 grafts in a slightly smaller area .

The work looks really good , typical of Dr wong , Hasson and Wong are two of the worlds best so you have nothin to worry about at all , the crowns are notorious for slow growing .....PAH ! to slow growing crowns hahahaha , your in for a top result and You will be extreamly happy in 12 months , I'm at 6 months with good progress , check out my blog to see what to expect .

I you measure the area then use the mathematic formula to work out the square area in cms , pie times radius squared this will then help us work out your density per cemtimeter squared .

If you do could you please let us know the density , thanks bud

Dear Bill,

First off, thank you for writing me and sharing your thoughts. I read your story and I must say that I was REALLY happy when you mentioned that you accepted Christ as your saviour....and then you topped it off by saying you got married to your wonderful bride too! You both look awesome. God bless you buddy!

I was shocked to see the amount of money you spent for treatments...I thought I spent a lot! Then I read your profile (and others) and it made me realize just how fortunate I was. Its a bonus to have Hasson and Wong right here in my home town of Vancouver. Many people come from all over the world to see these Dr's.

I was always nervous about going under the knife at first, so I tried the creams, shampoo's, lotions, miracle balms..blah-blah-blah, and then to no avail. I then tried LASER therapy with a positive mind thinking THIS was great! No knives, no surgery...but as time went, it became obvious that IT wasnt going to work either. One year later I was still looking the same but with $3500.00 less. I, like yourself, was embarrassed by this horrible bald spot and I became very conscious about it. It also affected my self esteem. All I could do was complain about it and everyday I would be reminded by it as I looked in the mirror. I HAD to change this. So I bit the bullet and made the call to H&W. I made an appointment that same week. The staff and Dr's were very friendly and made me feel very comfortable. I was really happy with my visit there. Its day two post op and my head is itchy! (but thats good news)

Anyways, I wanted to write you back to thank you for writing me. I appreciate your comments regarding the outcome of my surgery, because I relatively am new to all of this and I dont know what the results will look like until a year from now.

Comments like yours are very reassuring.

God bless...see ya at "crossroads" one day...if ya know what I mean ;

Qbert,

So I assume then that you are a fellow believer? That's terrific! Thank you for the many compliments and I'm glad that my journey and testimony has been encouraging to you. Considering where I was and where I am now, I couldn't be happier. And you my friend, are well on your way!

I will indeed see you on the crossroads which is great. In the meantime, I hope to keep seeing you on the forum and seeing your life changing transformation.

Best wishes,

Bill

Dear Bill,

Thanks again for your encouragement. Its nice to get feedback like this from someone who knows. Ive already encouraged an older gentleman today in the H&W office as I was waiting to see Dr Wong.

Ive been in his shoes...and my (truthful) encouragement made him feel good.

So again, thanks! icon_wink.gif

I look forward to my new head of hair! It does itch like hell though! icon_mad.gif

Cheers,

Hi Uncjim,

Thanks for your e-mail and your comments.

Everyone at H&W and on this site who has seen my crown post op, were impressed by it also. I am looking forward to the results in about eight to ten months.

I checked out your profile. What a great difference! You actually look YOUNGER now...(it helps by shaving the goatee and keeping it thin) Beards make us look older!

Even though your donor area was affected by the plug surgeries, it still looks really good. A huge difference of before and after.

Cheers!

Hey Spex,

Thanks for your comment.

I checked out your video, weblog and HT tips.

I found it informative. The video is well made and the HT tips was a good read. I also checked your hair restoration journal and see that Dr Feller does awesome work too.

Thanks mate!

Hi Jim,

I dont have a picture just yet but yes I did find the staples in my head a little uncomfortable. The crown was really itchy and sometimes I wish I could scratch it with a wire brush! But the donor area where the staples were in was stretching the skin. My body doesnt like foreign objects in it. Laying in bed with my head rested on the pillow was uncomfortable for a few days. I had to find that perfect niche. I was relieved to get the staples OUT. I can still see the scar on the back and I really hope that the scar will disappear because its quite noticeable.

Qbert,

Once the staples are out is like one of the best feelings in the world. Honestly though, I liked them a heck of a lot better than sutures. Frankly, they itched less and I was able to remove them myself. The only downside is they hurt more removing them.

Expect itching to continue in the donor and recipient sites for some time. Over time, it will gradually dissipate.

Best wishes,

Bill

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the feedback.

My concern right now is the scar behind my head. I didnt realize that it would be so noticeable...I probably can never have my hair this short again without seeing this scar.

I also am concerned about the density of my hair in the crown area. Im wondering the hair that grows there will be thin. I wont really know until 10 months from now...I will just have to wait.

Cheers

Qbert,

Some of your concerns should have probably been discussed before surgery.

The scar will appear worse at this point because you are still healing. It takes up to one year for a scar and a hair transplant to fully mature. Scar redness will fade over time, but yes it is true, you may not be able to wear your hair as short as you used to or your scar may be noticeable.

Your crown hair will give you a nice improvement, but don't expect to achieve your high school hair. It will most likely still be a little see-through, especially in certain lights, but you will definitely have a significant improvement overall.

I hope this helps.

Hi Bill,

Yeah I guess I wasnt expecting the scar to be THAT noticeable....it looks weird to have this big scar on the back of my head.

I will just have to be patient.

Thanks for the info...

Hang in there Qbert67-

When I looked at your side pics I wondered "where's the scar", because I can't see it. Did you have a shorter scar and higher density, or did it really heal that quickly on the side of your head.

The scar takes awhile to completely heal so don't lose heart. I'm a little over one month out and while I'm pleased with my progress the scar is still a tad pink.............you may use mederma or some sort of healing aid to help it.

If you want to compare notes, look at my crownwork from HT #2, I had 3886 grafts but also had some placed midscalp.......so, your results will likely be close to mine.

Hi there,

Thanks for your comment.

I read your profile and totally agree that balding does affect your self esteem. Like yourself, I hated seeing myself in pictures, and in the mirror seeing that a shiny bald head was announcing itself to the whole world! It really bothered me.

I also almost was about to go to Bosleys! Through the grace of God, it didnt happen.

I might add its a slow process after the op, esp in the crown but better now to get it done than never!

Congratulations, you made the right choice by choosing H&W.

How lucky we are the best place on earth for this technology happens to be right in our back yard!

Take care.

Qbert,

I'm really happy for your growth thus far and it was good to see your again yesterday. It's coming in quite well and as we discussed you should continue to see improvements over the next several months.
