ozi
Hi guys, my first visit. Perhaps it will be a fruitful journey. I am 32 yrs old from down under. My research starts today. My first query, is it worth while meeting a local skin specialist to discuss my option for hair transplant and seek if i need to start some kind of medication now. So ppl in these forum suggested that we need to plan long term and keep taking certain mdeication and nizral shampoo etc. Also no one seems to talk about the cost. I am looking at 2500 transplants @ my 1st session. How much money am i looking at. Any feedback is appreciated. regards Ozi

Guest
Hello Ozi from downunder! Jennifer Martinick is in Australia, That may be a good place to start for a consultaition. She may prescribe propecia to help you maitain the hair you have for starters. Here in the states we pay an average of $4.00 usd per graft. So for 2500 grafts your looking at about $10,000 usd. If you post a photo or two we can help you determine the degree of hairloss you have, how much your hairloss might progress & an estimate of how many grafts you will need. Good luck mate! Administrators Pat - Community Publisher Posted July 28, 2007 Administrators Share Posted July 28, 2007 Bon Voyage on your journey in search of new look. Jennifer Martinick is the only physician in Australia who is recommended on the Hair Transplant Network ( see her profile ). She has gotten only good feedback over the years. I know she has moved toward doing ultra refined follicular unit grafting. But while she is recommended on the Network, she has not yet been formally approved for membership in Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians. I recommend that you definitely consult with her as well as any one else you think may be top notch. Keep us all posted. Regular Member jojojo1 Posted July 29, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted July 29, 2007 Hi Ozi, i am from Oz too and was also interesting in getting a HT. Dr Martinick i think is probably the best surgeon there is in Aust (with the research i have done). Depends where in Aust you are, there is also Dr Knudsen, who seems quite good as well. The most important thing i am telling you right now is that Dr Martinick charges nearly $10 AUS per graft. Dr Knudson is at $7.70 and gets alot cheaper as you get more grafts) This is Dr Knudsons website http://www.hair-surgeon.com/ and it tells you everything. Both of these surgeons are top surgeons in Aust as Knudsen was the president of the Hair restoration society, and Martinick is the current president. So you would have to assume they are both very qualified and are in the top notch of all surgeons. Let me know if you do decide to visit one of them and if you can give me some feedbacks on it as i am too very interest in seeing them as well. Cheers mate and good luck
Senior Member TomA Posted August 8, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted August 8, 2007 Dr. Pathomvanich in Thailand charges 70 bhat (a little more than US$2) per graft. Thailand's not so far for an Aussie. You can see my photos here: http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=368 and read my review of the procedure here: http://hair-restoration-info.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/256...301054923#3301054923 Be aware that it takes about three months from when you call to actually get an appointment. The backlog seems to be growing, too. Any other questions, let me know. Tom -- 1st HT with Dr. Damkerng Pathomvanich, Bangkok, Thailand - 18 JUL 07 - 3300 grafts (FUT) - US$6,930 2st HT with Dr. Pathuri Madhu, Hyderabad, India - 31 JUL 10 - 2249 grafts (FUT) - US$2,200 3rd HT with Dr. Pathuri Madhu, Hyderabad, India - 26 JUL 11 - 320 grafts (FUE) touch up - US$0 My Hair Loss Weblog My opinions are my own.
