How long after HT can 1% Nizoral be used?

Recommended Posts

Rhodeman,

Though there will be varying answers on this, personally, because Nizoral can be a scalp irritant and dry out your hair, I'd wait at least a month or two before you start to use it. This is more of a personal thing than an absolute...but at the minimum, I'd wait until all the scabs are gone.

Agreed Bill!

I think I'd wait 1 month to be sure you're healed. Even when the scabs are healed the scalp MAY be sensitive for a time. At a minimum, wait until all the scabs have completely disappeared.

What about Nioxin (Cleanser & Scalp Therapy)? I had a hair transplant last Friday, have been using GraftCyte, and would like to style my hair as normal as possible when I return to work this Friday.

Gossamer,

From my experience, Nioxin is less harsh on the scalp than Nizoral, though I might advise you still wait to use even that until the scabs are at least removed. Personally, though, I used the Nioxin conditioner on the donor area even before the staples were removed, because the cooling effect helped soothe the itch icon_wink.gif
