Regular Member spineguy1 Posted November 4, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted November 4, 2007 Has anyone had experience with both drugs? I've not committed to long term use of either, not enough to really experience any positive effects from either, but now I'm making the decision to get on either avodart or propecia and take it religiously. I know that Avodart blocks more of DHT than propecia, so it seems logical to go with the avodart. What do you guys think?
Senior Member hoose Posted November 4, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted November 4, 2007 I would recommend Propecia first; it is FDA approved for hairloss and is less expensive by taking Proscar cut in 1/4's; Avodart in not FDA approved yet; it does block more DHT and type I and II, but it could cause more side effects and if more expensive. I would go with Propecia for now; you could always give avodart a try down the road if you find that propecia isn't effective for you.

Regular Member spineguy1 Posted November 5, 2007 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 5, 2007 I know that Avodart isn't approved, but has anyone had any personal experience with it? I'd love to hear some first hand accounts.

pawlik57
I've been taking avodart for about 4 years and have had no side effects of any kind. If it's approved for prostate problems, then it must be OK to take. I think it's maintained the hair that I have and prevented further loss.....and maybe some hair has grown back...
