I posted a response a month or so ago that Avodart works well for me.......

I have had no adverse effects from avodart and I have been on it for about three years.

I have been on dutasteride fro several years and it has prevented any further hair loss.....

I've been taking avodart for about 4 years and have had no side effects of any kind. If it's approved for prostate problems, then it must be OK to take. I think it's maintained the hair that I have and prevented further loss.....and maybe some hair has grown back...

So what is the general consensus of this group? Is xandrox worth a shot, or not??? Thanks!

I would also look into the dutasteride (avodart). It works better than propecia for me.

I've been using avodart for about 5 years and have checkups with my dermatologist about twice a year and there definitely has been improvement, ever so slight, but better than with propecia. I stopped taking avodart last winter for a couple of months or so (just got lazy and too comfortable) and there has been an increase in hair loss. I am now back on my daily regimen and am hoping to gain what I lost. I've had one HT with Dr. Laura Unger in NYC. Had the front 'quarter' of the scalp done.....didn't make as much difference as I thought it would. I do have a consultation scheduled with Dr. Beehner of Saratoga Springs, NY, in June. Will keep you posted.

Could you please explain why you would not choose Dr. Unger? I did have a procedure with her in NOvember, 2005 and I guess I'm not that pleased, but would appreciate hearing more about any of your experiences with her. Also, what surgeons would you recommend in the Upstate or Central New York State area? Thanks!!
