  1. This looks like a totally different person, and all in one visit. That's amazing. Thanks H&W for the mega session!
  2. He certainly got a distinguished look. I think it's interesting how the hair that grew into his hairline actually has color in it, was the hair darker from the donor area or did this just occur for some genetic reason?
  3. That's Awesome! Wonder if they take visa? Wished I could read Japanese.....
  4. Lotus... My point exactly, thank God for the forums, Yes, the techniques have come a LONG LONG way. Results today are phenomenal and I'm continually encouraged and amazed at the results that I see, Which is why I'm actually going back to Dr Wong to have my crown done. When I said that it was the worse mistake of my life, I meant that at the time and for several years afterward, the crappy job I got caused me much much grief. Forums like this provide a service to guys that you cannot put a price on. I've learned more about HT's from here that I ever did from the first surgeon who hacked me up. Testimony to educate yourself and find a competent skillful HT Surgeon.
  5. Wolfman, I totally appreciate your view and outlook. And, I agree with you. Honestly, getting a hair transplant was the worst mistake of my life, I'll always feel that way about it. If I could shave my head and never have to worry about hair again, I'd do it in a second. I was young, I was 20yrs old,I'm 39 now, totally self conscious and in a panic about my balding head, and I let a con artist Dr talk me into a HT, a terrible HT by the way. I was naive and uninformed. From that point on, (and I did not realize it at the time) shaving my head was no longer an option because of the very large scar that ran around the back of my head. The procedure was not explained to me in detail, I didn't know he would get the donor hair from a strip excised from the back of my head. I spent the next several years wearing a hat to cover up bad plugs. (Kudo's to Jerry Wong for fixing me!)...my point is, getting a HT should not be taken lightly by anyone. It is for better or worse, a life altering decision, and that should be fully understood by anyone considering it. I don't feel that forums like this encourage people to get a HT, but gives prospective patients the knowledge, education, and experience of others, so that they can make an informed decision that's best for them. I wished that I had had this resource back then...
  6. I think that overall they do a good job compared to most other Euro clinics but their results have always bugged me a little for several reasons. First, they break one of the cardinal rules of before photos. They wet the hair which makes it look far thinner than if it were dry. They also use flash for their after photos which makes the density unrealistic. But when you look closer most of their results show work that was done behind their existing hairline. Notice that the very front hairs are usually combed down away from the rest of the scalp in the after photos. Most guys I know don't have hair this messy and I think in these cases messy equates to "natural" which is not exactly genuine. I think they rely too much on using original hair in the front to enhance the naturalness of their work. It's not that they are bad but I think their presentation could be more honest. You rarely ever see one of their patients being REALLY bald where a brand new hairline needs to be made from scratch. Those that do have new hairlines created look less than natural to me. Some of them look like wigs. Most of these links I found show the case I talk about where they use the original hair for the hairline and place just behind it. Notice how most of them have the first few hairs combed down instead of brushed up like the rest of the hair. http://www.hairlossadvances.co...1999&highlight=escar http://www.hairlossadvances.co...1994&highlight=escar http://www.hairlossadvances.co...1909&highlight=escar http://www.hairlossadvances.co...=907&highlight=escar http://www.hairlossadvances.co...=852&highlight=escar This one looks like a wig for sure. http://www.hairlossadvances.co...=837&highlight=escar http://www.hairlossadvances.co...=816&highlight=escar
  7. Lorenzo, your post just made me have a memory flash of the Hack Dr that talked me into his minigraft procedure then "destroyed" my head when I was in my early 20's....I was so devastated about it that he offered me a free "touch-up". Desperate I let him do yet another HT on me and guess what.....three bad hack surgeries do not equal one good surgery, but I learned that the hard way. It wasn't until years later when Dr Wong worked on me (4100 grafts) that I felt comfortable enough to finally be seen in public again without a hat on my head....that was 4 years ago. Thanks Dr Wong!
  8. Just watched the video...guess they can charge 40-50% less because they saved so much money on their cheesy ass infomercial style website. Oh and did you see the "enter to win a free hairtransplant contest"? lol....you have to pay them 10 bucks to enter!
  9. Good Grief, The amount of fraud that goes on in this industry in order to extort money from men with such an emotionally driven medical problem just sickens me. It really makes you appreciate "watchdog" forums like this one, where members have the right to hold these guys accountable for their lies and misrepresentation, and free speech reins supreme. Thanks for calling these guys out Joe. Keep us posted on what transpires.
  10. Hey Joe, well, to be honest with you, after seeing the blatant use of many of H&Ws photos on this "capri cosmetics" site, I feel a bit naive about getting so upset for one little photo on the previous HT site...man, I'm just blown away about how often this happens..seems pretty common place. Well, I'm still surprised and a bit shocked, but less pissed off about it. I think the only thing I can do to help is post some pics of my surgery, and simply share my story with those who want to know about my experience. I'm not that internet saavy, so if you'd help me with the pics...I'd appreciate it. I know you have some before pics and pics of the actual surgery..Scott
  11. One other thing, I have to disagree with the thought that the owner of a clinic isn't involved or interested enough to know what's going on with their website when building it. I know many physicians and surgeons and they are just like any business owner, especially cosmetic surgeons. Most take a keen interest in how they are branded and perceived by the public. If you ask me allowing this to happen is pretty much a smoking gun as to the quality of work that is performed at that clinic.
  12. Joe, I was absolutely blown away by the stealing of your photos in an attempt to deceive patients into thinking the work was theres. This is the email I send to our new friends at the Sara Wasserbauer Clinic: "Greetings, What a bunch of fraudulent hacks you must be. You have taken a picture of Joe Tillman, a patient of Dr Wong of Hasson and Wong, and put a picture that he took of his own surgery on your website as if he were your patients. I have never in all of my days seen such deceit. How many unsuspecting suckers have you hooked in from this type of lies just to make a buck? What you did should be criminal and if I were Mr. Tillman and Dr's Hasson and Wong, I'd seriously consider seeking advice from an attorney to find out just to what extent of damages you have caused to their practice and reputation. Please know that I will gladly do my part on the hair transplant networks and websites to discredit and expose you for who you are"
  13. anon, would you be willing to submit some photos of your hair? Perhaps you just need to begin propecia or avodart to prevent further thinning? You should consider it regardless. I don't think it will cure your depression, but it will probably make you feel like you're taking control of your hair loss instead of it taking control of you..
  14. I got sucked into this thread, then I just had to view the pics, and now after a couple thousand dollars in therapy, I hope to forget it ever happened....
  15. wanthairs, Jotronic is absolutely right about very little waste, I'd love to have the donor area that my first hack surgeon wasted from my previous 3 surgeries, Dr Wong gave me more grafts with one surgery that I had with all three of the old style mini grafts, which left 2 terrible scars in the back of my head by the way. Anyway H&W are really efficient with what they harvest. Goodluck
  16. How do drugs like Propecia or Avodart affect serum levels of testosterone. What if someone were testosterone deficient to begin with? If a pt was taking prescribed replacement testosterone therapy, and on a drug that stops the conversion of testosterone to DHT, would this likely "raise" or "lower" serum testosterone levels? Any opinions from Medical Professionals would be welcome.
  17. Is it normal for a technician to be drawing in the hairline? That looks like what's going on in the one photo where the woman has a pencil to the patient's head. Also, I totally agree with Bill on removing grafts from the crown area, that seems dangerous to me.
  18. Not to keep the argument going, but just to address a couple of points: "The top docs on here are of equal ability" How can this be? Opinions are one thing but to say that ALL of the "top" docs are equal is ludicrous almost to the point of negating your rebuttal of my opinion. How can everyone be the same? It makes no sense. "I feel H & W has many patients on this site who share their life changing experiences which can create a perception of bias whereas other docs do not." Shouldn't this be considered a point that validates my "opinion"? If not then would pointing out this issue insinuate that something untoward is happening for so many of H&W patients to be posting their experiences? On the one hand every doc is the same but on the other hand H&W has "many" patients that share so this may skew the perception. If they're the same why would H&W have so many patients that share?
  19. Mikeb921: I agree with Bobman, I traveled from Northeast Tennessee all the way to Vancouver to have Dr Wong perform basically a "miracle" to cover up the mess that a hack Dr "Closer to home" had performed years earlier. I cannot tell you how that decision has changed my life. Dr Wong did Superior work and I, as many many other pt's of H&W, couldn't be happier with my results. Yes there are several "Top" HT surgeons, but you should understand that the difference between the top 1 or 2, from the the rest of the field is a wide margin. I think H&W are probably the #1 hair transplant surgeons in the world, I came to that conclusion when searching for someone to do my surgery, not Because they're the ones who did my surgery. I could have and would have gone anywhere in the world to get the best. Don't short change yourself. It's a decision that you will live with for the rest of your life. Goodluck.
  20. so it's like spreading grass seed right, somehow the hair grows roots and sprouts up in other places on the pig....How credited was this Doctor???
  21. guyfromsydney, If there was some magical formula, some drug company would be cashing in on it, trust me.
  22. guyfromsydney, From my experience a dermatologist can certainly tell you if your hairloss is due to male pattern baldness or some other reason. But when it comes to solutions, most are going to write a prescription for propecia and tell you that you can use rogaine as well, then send you on your way. You've made a great first step in educating yourself by finding this site. Goodluck
  23. I know that when I had my first couple of procedures people would recognize my strip scar because I kept my hair short. Whenever someone would ask me about it, I made up all kinds of stories just out of embarrassment. This could be the case, or maybe he's just found something that works for him. It's hard to say.
  24. Thanks guys... Mrjb...didn't realize I could search using keywords. Thanks. I'll give it a try.
