As a result of flaking I am losing more hair. I feel as if my scalp is on fire. Should I discontinue minoxidil or is there any other option. Will switching to minoxidil 2% help. Or as someone suggested I should use minoxidil with glycerol instead of propylene glycol. If yes, is there any such solution in the market?

Hi, My doc said he would perform HT only if I take propecia and apply minoxidil for next 6 months. But I am scared of propecia since we cant stop it once we start using it (apart from side affects). So if I ask my doc to perform HT (2000 grafts), I will lose the existing hair due to shock loss. I go for second HT to cover that. How many grafts would I need eventually for covering up my whole vertex?

As tisab said,Dont stop medication once started. I did that dumb thing. Stopped minoxidil for 2 months suddenly and I lost 40% of my hair. Even that hair which was healthy before using minoxidil.

Hi, My hair thinning started at the age of 22. Right now I am 27. It really got bad at 23 and 24. I used to think it was bcoz of my dandruff n itchy scalp. But I used to go to this Salon once a month where the salonist used to use this anti-dandruff solution and a high frequency machine. As long as I used to do it my hair fall used to stop and also my dandruff used to disappear. But as soon as I stopped the treatment, everything would return(hair fall, dandruff). Then I moved from India to USA(at the age of 25) and my hair thinning increased very rapidly. I was scared to death. By the time I went back to India (1.5 yrs later), my hair line started to recede on the front right side of the crown. Then I started using minoxidil and my old salonist treatment. To my disbelief my hair grew back. Then when I returned to US after four months, I continued using minoxidil 5%. But after 5 months, I stopped it as I felt it was creating more gaps. After that in the last 4 months, I lost 50% of my crown. And now I can see scalp at the center of the head. Is it posssible to loose so much hair in just 4 monhs? Now I am using dercos which stopped hair loss and has given more strength to hair. But its not regrowing hair. I dont know what to do. Please suggest. I am scared with HT pictures. Swelling,bleeding,etc. What if it doesnt work. Doest low laser therapy work?

What is mpb? I will share one of my experiences. When I was experiencing sever hair loss, my salonist gave me a scalp treatment shampoo, conditioner and a solution. After I started applying that my hair started to grow. But when I stopped that, it again came back to the same situation. May be worse. I have read somewhere in this forum that such kind of solutions have some amount of finasteride. And one of the consultants told me that once you stop using finasteride, you will again start losing hair. Is this true? Should I continue using that solution or would it be better if I start taking propecia directly. The only reason I did not take propecia was because of its side effects.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have one more question. My hair loss has actually stopped. I am not experiencing severe hair loss. May be 10 grands a day. But previous hair loss has left some patches on my scalp. If I take propecia, will it help in regrowing hair there? I mean does propecia help in regrowing hair or just stops hair loss

I am 26 and just started getting bald. I have been researching a lot lately. One of the consultants in Medical Hair Restoration USA has told me that propecia might have some side effects. One of side effects he hinted was regarding sex life. But here I see people using it for years. Can some one help me out on this. And how should I decide on whether I should use Propecia or proscar.

Has anybody heard of laser therapy for hair regrowth. I read that its a great success in europe. Even in USA, laser comb products have come out which uses low intensity laser therapy for hair strengthening and thickening. I want know if anybody has undergone any such process or does anybody have any suggestions in this respect. 2 years back when my hair was falling at rapid pace, I went to a salon in India and he used a high frequency stimulator on my scalp along with some other treatment. To my suprise, hair fall stopped and I started growing thick hair and in few months there was no sign of baldness. But unfortunately I had to go to USA on an assignment for 2 years and I have again started losing hair. I searched a lot in US for such treatment but none were offering that. So please let me know of any such treatments? Laser or low intensity light treatments, high frequesncy stimulators etc because I am still not that bald to get a HT. But my hair is thinning. And HT in USA is very costly
