  1. Dr True and Dorin did my HT on March 31 2005. I have not posted for a while..but I am delighted with my transplant. 2605 follicles. After 6 months, what a difference! I am hoping to get some pics posted after my visit with the tech next Friday. All good..no shock loss. no scar. nothing but hair! Wallywonka
  2. Agreed...the scar is the least concern if the other things are in place that the forum moderator stated. My scar was invisable several weeks after the stitches were removed. If your doctor does a double stitch routinely to close the donar area, you should have no visablilty and certainly no pain afterward. Talk about this with your consult doctor and determine first how he routinely closes the donar area. WW
  3. My experience with Dr True and Dorin was great. I've posted it here before. I'm 14 weeks out and still no shock loss anywhere. I have growth of new FUs and about 1/3 of the HT FU never fell out but continued to grow. Now they are at about 1 1/2 long or better and I am now combing back hair that I never had before. Their tecnique is incredible and the techs that work with them are dedicated and devoted to the painstaking process of follical removal from the donar tissue. I will post pics in a couple of weeks when I reach 4 months. WW
  4. KG007, Yes, I'm going to start posting in a couple of more weeks. I was going to start earlier but decided to wait till after 16 weeks. I think four months out is going to be a real good time to post. The last few weeks, my wife and closest friends really began to be believers....even mentioning at times that they felt it was really starting to show. I'm thin in the HT area..but I think it is beginning to thicken up for a picture or two when I figure out how to get my pictures from my digital to my computer, to this forum. WW
  5. eric123 I'm hearing in this forum that shockloss has occured in many HTs in the donar area. MY scar stretches from ear to ear due to 2600 futs. No shock loss. I am not so sparse on top as you say...I was a Norwood 4A. None there either. It seems like some of you can't let go of the idea that it's just absolute that shock loss occurs in everyone. Evidently, some don't suffer shock loss. WW
  6. To the forum Moderator: Again, I'm at 12 weeks now and still have had no shock loss. I guess what I am reading here, is that it is so prevalent in HT's that you should expect it and be happy if you don't have it. OK, I'm happy. But I think this positive experience deserves to be shared so it equalizes out some of the bad experiences shared here at times. By the way..."cracking walnuts with your pecs" by Mahair was a humerous statement...but that doesn't really address overall health as much as it address strength. I'm 57 years old...I havent been able to do that for a number of years now. But eating them can help since they are high in protien and other essential minerals. Sorry...I'm getting way to serious. WW
  7. BobbyN A cheap ticket to NY is well worth it. Try some rally good Docs without paying any more.
  8. thinkingaboutit, Yeh, I've posted..My HT is fantastic. I'm post op 12 weeks today. MY Ht hairs are still in place [35%never fell out] They are now at about 1 1/4 inches each with some nwe ones shorter. A lot of stubs are appearing. I met with John from Dr True's office about 3 weeks ago. John, the technician, agreed that this was rather ahead of schedule. I'm actually combing my new hair back as of now although it is still quite thin. I believe that it will thicken up in the months to come. But right now, I'm delighted with the whole experience. No dreaded shock loss at all. At 57 years of age..I'm pretty darn hapy with it! Thanks for asking. WW
  9. BobbyN, Drs True and Dorin in NYC I learned about him from this site. I never saw a bad report on their work. I had a phenominal experience. i hope that you are in the NY area. WW
  10. I'm going to guess that the hot water is helping the blood circulation in that area. I think that is a good thing. It should help healing...growth? Just a guess...I'm not a doctor
  11. Is there any possibility that these are hairs that would have fallen out anyway? What is your age and family experience? Perhaps the HT hastened an eventuality?
  12. I had Dr True and Dr Dorin assisting for 2605 grafts on March 30th. Nothing but positive. I'm way ahead on regrowth. Great experience with great Doctors and experienced technicians. A team of five were working on me for over 5 hours then down to just the Doctors for the alast 3 hours. No pain only gain. As I have said in other posts, I have kept roughly 35% of my transplants and they are all about an inch long with new growth hairs coming in quickly. This is my 10th week only. If it sounds like I'm bragging..I'm sorry but I'm really happy with my experience. Thanks Dr. True and Dorin WW
  13. I had the same thoughts about my age. I'm 57 and just figure that I don't want to spend twenty or more years bald like the rest of my family was and is. Pain for me was as stated above by gillinator. You won't look goofy if you get the right surgeon. For me...no one has ever noticed. I took a week out of the area on vacation..played golf on day 5 and only used sun block with no hat while out on the course. My only annoyance is itching and numbness. But the new growth in the HT area helps me get through that quick enough. Hope to hear more from you on your procedure and results. I'm going to post my pictures in another month. I'm only out 9 weeks post op, but have new hair coming in and 35% of HT hair at about 1 inch long. Like everyone says..pick your doctor carefully from suggestions that you will find here. Weigh your own health and ability to heal, keep a good quality diet before and after. Wish you well! WW
  14. I agree...last year , he was quite bald over a major portion of his scalp. But look at him now! I sure would like to know who his surgeon was. Any Ideas on how to find out? WW
  15. Carl 51, Hey..don't quit. Youv'e invested all this effort up till now, why not try to isolate three of the best surgeons out of all your research? Do several consults and make a desion based on further research. It doesn't have to be hit or miss. If you can find 3 surgeons that have nothing bad said about them in these postings...then I think thats progress. Talk to them via consultation and get it down to two choices. The next step? Research some more and choose the best of the best. Iv' been watching this web site for about 2 years and it sure helped me to make my choice. I did DR True and Dorin and I am nothing but happy at 8 weeks out..no bad effects at all. New hair is already growing in and 40% of HT hair stayed in and is 3/4 inch long with no shock loss yet. It can be a great experience for you too. Just do what you can to get it as right for you as you can and then get a highly trained Dr. By the way, it only costs a couple hundred dollars to fly to NYC for the best in the world. It's only my opinion but I think it's true! WW
  16. Mahair, I'm really sorry guy for your situation. I do not mean to sound course..I am new at this and this has been my experience..positive. I guess that is why this forum exists, so that we all can send out messages that we believe are in the best interests of others. I really wish you the best on your overall outcome and hope to hear and see some good things come out of this for you. WW
  17. Mahair, Not true in this HT case. Is seven weeks out too short a time to have not experienced shock loss anywhere on my head? About 40 % of the transplanted hair has not fallen out either. I am not bragging about it...I'm trying to figure out why this has not happened to me when this is all I read about on these threads. I mean this is a positive experience that needs to be shared with those who may be contemplating it. If a physician or someone with some knowledge or experience the same as mine is reading..I would like to have it shared here too, not just for the positive potential that some may also have but also to understand why there is such a variance in degree of HT fallout and shockloss. Anyone?
  18. Mahair, I can only imagine your pain and anxiety over your procedure. It sounds like it went terribly wrong. I too consulted with MDR in Westchester, NY. I did not , however go to them for my HT as I felt I was being sold something. Dr True did my 2600 7 weeks ago and as I have said in previous threads...it has only been good. I know that you have a right to say what you want on this forum...but it seems to me that your bad experience is your only experience and while it is true in your case...I would hope that others reading would not determine their HT future by using your experience as the bench mark. Thinkingaboutit may have an entirely different experience than you had. It seems like your negativity is overwhelming good sense and logic in your comments. Again, I do feel for you...but you should identify your bad experience with each thread as a potential not as an absolute Wallywonka
  19. Thinkingaboutit, I am new at this, but I have a guess that some people heal faster than others. Some have better general health than others. Some have health issues that weaken the hair and nails. Why do some women have shining shimmering hair that looks youthful and vibrant while others have thin, dull hair? I think it is a matter of general health, diet and genes. So is it right to say, as Mahair indicates in his thread...that shock loss is an absolute? I doubt it. He sounds like he has had a bad time with shock loss. I am now 7 weeks out and I am very grateful to say that I have had none. About 40% of my HT stayed in place and is now 3/4inch long with others longer. At six weeks, I have new hair coming in. All I can say is it must be no smoking, good diet, active life, dietary supplements including essential minerals in a liquid form and generally good health. I do not know for a certainty that this is the answer..but part of my decision to have this done was that I did not expect complications if I coupled these attributes with an excellent doctor [True] Please do not take this as bragging about my condition..but I am really getting to believe that one who seems to be a good healer when cut or injured is probably going to do better in any surgery including HT. Wallywonka
  20. This has bee agreat thread. Thanks everybody. I feel even better knowing that so many had good results from begining to end with Dr. True.
  21. Dr. True: I am so pleased to hear your beautiful response to NYC Guys lopsided view of his visit with you. I believe that your perspective of the visit is substantiated by the way you have handled my HT as well as the many others that I researched before I decided for your office to handle my case. I can only speak for myself as to the professional, highly skilled staff, including John who gave the best of care to me. I would like to add for the benefit of NYC Guy, that actually I spent very little , hardly any time with you or Dr Dorin before surgery. My consultation was with John in your Pougkeepsie satelite office and I only met you on the day of surgery. I felt no further need to consult with you on that occasion as John had already answered all of my questions professionally and satisfactorily. I thought his hair looked very good. He also had another HT patient stop by to show me his results after 2 HTs. Perhaps NYC guy had not done his homework before consultation and expected more than what was reasonable for that day. NYC Guy is the first discontent [about you]that I've read on this forum. For my part...I can't wait to show you the results so early on. I'm 6 weeks out and have new growth and 40% of HT is still growing and has not fallen out. This..I believe attests to the exceptional skill used by your trained staff of technicians, in my case, that has resulted in some very unussually quick results. No scar problems; no shock loss; no pimples, redness..nothing but hair! Thankyou Dr True. Wallywonka
  22. Notsohairy, I too had a great HT from Dr True. 2605 on March 30 2005. I know that I'm supposed to loose the new hair for several months...but this has not happened. I had swelling only on days 3 and 4. By day 5 I went golfing. On day 10 my sutures were removed. At this time 5 weeks out...I can not believe the results. I still have 40% of my graft hair and it is still growing. Even, where hair has broken off at the surface..it is starting to grow again. Some new hairs are over an inch long but most are about 1/2 to 5/8 inches long. I definiatly see folicles where the hair has gone into the sleep state. But there are so many that have not. I had my wife look at the scar last night and it is almost undetectable...just a thin red line from ear to ear. I still feel numb on top and of course the results may change on me..but up till now, I have no shock loss in the scar area and no other signs of an HT. It is so natural that no one has said anything to me about it unless I mention it. Dr True, in my case was a genious as was his assistants and Dr Dorin who also worked on me. I can hardly wait to see what 4 or 5 months brings. Wallywonka
  23. Mr Marc, I consulted with the people at Medical Hair Restoration in Westchester. I was only initially consulting and was not thoroughly convinced to do this yet...so I didn't take the ball and run with it , so to speak. However, a year later and after reading this web page and others, I sorted out who I thought were the best choices in the area. Having never read anything bad about Drs. True and Dorin, I decided to have a consultation. I was thoroughly convinced by this time and just needed to hear somebody talk to me like they cared about my procedure and not try to sell me something. John is their lead consultation man and he was very professional in the discussion. I felt very confortable and decided to go ahead. I only met Dr. True on the day of the procedure in Manhatten. But It was better than I had anticipated. I could not say enough good about the whole thing. Thanks for the inquiry. I'll add info as I start getting regrowth worth talking about. WW
  24. I had Dr. True on March 30th 05. Incredible experience...alll good. 2605 grafts no bleeding little swelling on days 3 and 4. By day ten, I had my sutures removed. Now at 4 1/2 weeks my scar is difficult to find and my hair grafts did not all fall out as they were supposed to. I think that the great care and fastidious work made for a very healthy HT and recovery. Dr. True and Dr. Dodrin his associate and all his staff were great. The work is incredible and believe it or not....not one person has ever asked me if I had anything done with my hair. [ there were no visable signs of a surgery situation after a few days in my case. Hope this is helpful. Wallywonka
  25. thinkingaboutit, I have taken no supplements other than my normal liquid minerals thatI have taken for the past 6 years to keep my immune system up and stay healthy. This may have put me in a good frame of health...at least I would like to think so. Anyway, I did sit up for the first 5 or 6 nights. I had absolutely not one drop of blood from the operation. I believe that Dr. True did a fastidious impeccably perfect job for me and I have absolutely no scar 4 1/2 weeks out. I do heal quickly...but I am still very impressed with his work. I do experience numbness in the HT area...but I understand the nerves need to grow back and will do so in the next 5 months. I still have retained about 50 % of the transplanted hair. It's about 3/8 to 3/4 inches long. some of it evidently growing better than others. I was going to post some Post op pics...but I think I will wait for further growth.
