  1. I'm debatign shaving my hair down to a stubble (kind of like a 5 o'clock shadow). I had a HT back in May of 2004 for 1000 graphs. In order to shave my hair down, I think I would need to cover the scar to feel comfortable. Will FIT or FUE cover this scar up? I think my scar is significantly thin. I honestly cant even feel it, and I currently shave the back of my hair down with a 2 guard and no one has ever said anything and I cannot notice it. Also, is FIT more expensive than FUE? Who are the top docotors that perform this in the US?

  3. I read through these posting rather consistantly. It seems there are many, many products that can help. I have had one HT in May 2004 and looking back now I was premature with my decision. It caused shock loss which never recovered. My hair pre-transplant was dense, but has difussed since. I wanted the temple area addressed but MHR thought I should also have grpahs placed on top (which subsequently caused the shock loss!). Anyway, I dont think it's bad and would like something other than propecia to take. Some people on here seem like they take a million things and it seems some work. I really dont want to take or place anything that is noticeable like dut. I think maybe dut is like a cream or something that people place in their hair to cover the scalp. I saw one guys story of how someone hit him over the head with a pillow and the stuff left a streak across the pillow which embarrassed him. My hair loss isnt horrible at all, but very noticeable to me. What products can someone recommend? Is there a special shampoo or anything that can cause slight regrowth? A pill? Something not noticeable? Also, where do I get these? Are they prescription only? I can tell that most here are much more knowledgable than I am and I do greatly appreciate any help you guys can offer.

  5. Hey finallyfree. Thanks for the pics. I think your buzz cut looks great. How do you think it would look if you grew it out some? On the top front, my hair has probably thinned out to 50%. I dont think too mnay people have noticed except me. When it gets cut too short, I think its more noticeable. When I use to put products in it, I think one might be able to tell. In the sunlight, I can see through it and see my scalp. I'm curious how mine would look but am still too scared to take the plunge. I think I would also like to have FUE done to fill in the scar. I dont think my scar is too bad as it is so I'm thinking 200 or so would suffice. Also, would did your work? Thanks again for the info/help!
  6. I currently shave the back and sides down to a 2.5 and it isnt noticeable. I assume anymore and it would be. I'm also considering having FUE placed in the scar area. How many graphs would this take? When I said shaved down too I was refering to something like a 5 oclock shadow. No guard. Will FUE placed in the scar area cover this up or no? I was hoping to do a 500 grpah procedure using 150 or so to cover up the scar, and then to have the remainign 350 placed in the front temple area for a little more density. Any good docotors in Chicago to recommend? Also, I cannot really feel the scar at all but shaving it down that short (no guard) will it show that much? It seems everyone is unique and the only way to find out is to do it. I did see a pic of a guy who had FUE placed in the scar and he shaved his down without using a guard and it looked great. Another thing I'm worried about is the "bumps" where MHR placed the graphs. Will these be noticeable. It's been about 16 months but someone mentioned that they use mini-graphs and they might show a little. Also, since I only had 1000 graphs done, they did a single strip. Any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated guys.
  7. Can anyone recommend a good FUE doctor in the midwest. Also, using FUE to cover up a scar seems like it works for people buzzing their hair down. However, wont the transplanted hairs (assuming you also place some on top) have the little bumps everyone talks about? I had my first done, 1000 graphs in 5/04, by MHR. I cant really tell if bumps would be noticeable or not. Do the bumps really exist or are these from older techniques used years ago? Thanks!

  9. I've been contemplating buzzing my hair down to a stubble. Two things I'm worried about. First, the bumps that everyone talks about. It's been a year since my HT and I'm curious how noticeable they will be. I had 1000 graphs done. Second, is the scar. I assume it would be noticable. I think I'm comfortable buzzing my hair down, but would like to keep a stubble look. I've head FUE can cover the scar. Anyone know of a good FUE doctor in the midwest? Made the mistake of using MHR the first time. Also, do you not require as much hair to have a normal look when buzzing it down? My fear is that buzzing my down would make the top look bad. I would say just the very front of my hair line is thinning, with some receding at the temple. Any help or experiences you guys could share would be great!

  11. Is there no one that can tell me how noticeable the bumps and scar will be? Also, how does thinning hair look when it is shaved down?
  12. I had my HT in May of 2004 (1000 graphs). Although I took my time in making my decision, I now question whether or not I should have done it. Like many here on the site, my receding/thinning was something that truly bothered me and was effecting my life. The HT actually caused my hair to thin even more (shock loss) as MHR never warned me of this risk. If I would post a pic, most people would say I have a full head of hair. I got the HT as a proactive procedure, not wanting to look like my father and brother. Okay, here is my question. Does anyone have any experience with a HT and then decided to shave their head down? Not completely bald, but to something like a 5 oclock shadow? I'm curious how the "bumps" will look, how noticeable they will be, how the scar will look (I know it will be seen but to what extent), will the thinning area in front be noticeably different than the rest of my head? Any info, pictures would be greatly appreciated. I've come to realize that there will never possibly be enough hair to completely satisfy me when I am bald. Reading through threads it seems like everyone is having to go back multiple times, and then at that, perhaps they still arent happy. I've gotten to the point where I believe I would be comfortable with this, or at least would like to try it. I'm just curious what this is going to look like. Thank you very much for your time!
