  1. I was told by my doctor at least 6 months is the minimum requirement. I have been on Propecia for 2 years although I can't say it has helped in anything other than obliterating my hair line. Just be prepared for some shedding to follow in the upcoming weeks as the dying hairs bow out.
  2. Jw, That looks really good, however, judging by the graft placememts in your post-op picture it would appear to me that the temple area did not see much growth. Do you agree or is it just the picture not telling the whole tale? Otherwise nice results. Good luck in the future!!
  3. Bill, Thanks for the support. I look forward to posting all the pictures documenting my transformation as it evolves back to the point when I was 20 years old.....well maybe I'll settle for 30. Future, If you take a look at some of the work that Dr. Rahal has done on people with the same degree of hairloss as yourself, I think you will be very excited by the results. Of course I have not seen your picture but based on your NW scale. I think you have alot to be optimistic about.
  4. Future, I will be doing a strip procedure as I am in need of many , many grafts(4000 to start). Fue would be too costly and the results are not proven yet when it comes to mega sessions. Where ar e you on the Norwood scale? I am a NW5a and counting.
  5. HTinthefuture, I booked in April as that was the next available session, however , I am on the notice of cancellation list should something come up sooner. I will also be driving out sometime before my procedure to meet with Dr. Rahal in person just to make sure we are both on the same page as far as what can be expected etc.. I think my biggest fear is disappointment and not the procedure itself as Dr. Rahal has mastered it I'm sure.
  6. Well that's it. Just booked a date in April for Ht with the good Dr. Rahal. He is only a few hours away by car, produces some great looking results and the no pressure discussions with Adrian convinced me. Going to concentrate on the frontal third as I am a true NW5a although still have some decent coverage at the back for a few more years anyway. I will be starting a web log soon and thanks to all for their input over the last 2 years. Cheers

  8. I pulled out of an HT a year and a half ago. I regret it now immensely as I look worse and that time is gone forever. I am looking at doing one now with a different doctor and will not look back.If balding is bugging you now, it will forever!!. It is up to you to do it when you are ready, but don't let any external factors dissuade you. DO IT FOR YOU AND DAMN EVERYONE ELSE.
  9. Again, nice looking results but I am going to echo one of Bill' observations in that this patient has a shaved head as well as the other. How do your patients look with their grown out? I would consider paying a FUE premium if the results justify it. Thanks
  10. I would be happy with those results. No scar and still able to shave the head. Not bad at all.
  11. Bill, I have been on Propecia for 2 years. IMO it has not done much for me. Going bald is not an option for me as it is something that eats at me each and every day. I will be doing an online consultation with H&W this week to get their opinion. Thanks
  12. Here is the picture that Armani's staff took of me this week. 4500 grafts is what I need for sure in order to get a decent result. L'Anonyme, thanks for the advice. I always felt somewhat resonsible as I did cancel the procedure after all. However, I gave Armani plenty of notice to fill the spot , and all I wanted was to move the date. He wouldn't honour the initial price as he said it was a "special". I did not know that one could charge back the deposit to one's credit card or I might have done just that. It was for $2000.00 and I think I will look in to that further. Not sure what recourse I have now as that happened over a year ago. armani_resized.bmp
  13. Thanks to everyone for their input. That deposit is gone as they would only honour it if I was to book a complete session with them. I accept that as I did cancel the first booking however much it does hurt to lose that cash. In my initial interview with Dr. Armani he noted that I had some thinnig in my donor areas but it would not pose a problem. This time around I met with one of his reps and was told I could easily yield 10-12k of grafts as I had "thick" donor hair. It is this type of inconsistent info that worries me about him. I will be posting a picture of myself later to show exactly where I am at Thanks again to all.
  14. Greetings to all, I had a consultation with Dr Armani's office regarding an HT yesterday. I had previously booked a session about a year ago but had to cancel. I do have a deposit from the the first booking that I am trying not to lose, so that is why I am leaning towards Dr Armani. The person who interviewed me told me that as of October 1, 2007, the strip procedure will no longer be available and in fact you can't even book one at all. The reason for this decision I was informed is due to "complications" that they have had with the strip procedire???So I was told that FUE is the way to go. In my case I would need 4500 grafts(NW5). This could be done over a two day session. The cost seems to be extremely high, however, and the price changes on whether Armani does it himself or one of his trained surgeons does it. I would prefer of course if Dr Armani did it , but I just can't afford the price. Also, FUE has been the topic of contoversy on this site as to what the final result may look like. If anyone could offer some input It would be appreciated. I will be posting some pics of myself this week. I will asking Hasson and Wong If they do mega fue sessions as well. For some reason I just don't get a good feeling!! I may just be paranoid . Cheers

  16. Hi Dopey, I sarted losing my hair at your age and now at 40, I look exactly like you . I came close to an HT a year ago but didn't go through with it although I am just about ready now. Every doc I consulted with recommended at LEAST 4000 grafts.1300 grafts is not nearly enough to satisfy most of us. Besides you have to consider if it is worth cutting your virgin head for such a small yield. You may want to get another opinion. Good luck
  17. Wow, that is a lot of money. The $2000.00 I lost in deposit to Dr.Armani seems like nothing now. I will be going to see Hasson and Wong whem I am ready I think. Hope all works out for you hairme07.
  18. I have been on Propecia for nine months and must say I am very disappointed. I have considerably less hair than before. Hair is always falling out. Going to take it to the one year mark and re-evaluate then.
  19. Hello, it just so happens that I was to have my transplant with Armani today as a matter of fact. I'm not going into specifics yet as I am trying to get my deposit back, but all I can say is it is very corporate like over there. They seem to book patients like an assembly line process. The Doc himself was pleasant but I didn't have more than a five minute talk with him. Ask all questions up front as I am now fighting for my $2000.00 deposit back.all i tried to do was move the date and they flat out refused. Good luck.Im almost a NW5 now but have since buzzed it right down.I can stand it for a few more years. Try it first you might like it.
  20. Thanks to all for the responses. That picture doesn't quite show the extent of my hair loss. It is ver thin indeed,I'll try to produce a better one. As for maintenance I have been on Propecia for the last 7 months.I think I just completed the "shedding" phase which I hope is normal.A couple of doctors recommended 3000-4000 grafts in the frontal area and comb back as I do have some decent coverage in the vertex area.Hairline is all but gone though. My greatest concern with an HT is the scar itself. Will it feel odd for a long time or even permanently?
  21. Greetings to all as this is my first post on this or any hair loss forum. I have booked an Ht with Dr Armani in Toronto for some time in June. Of course I am second guessing myself now as I am unsure of results. Here is a poor picture of hair loss(sorry). Dr Armani recommends 4000 grafts in the front 1/3 of my head thereby reconstucting the hairline and add density as well.A second procedure will most likely be needed down the road for the rest.Any comments would be appreciated.Special thanks to Pat for this site.
