How much hair is actually shed post -op 3250 grafts, and how long is it before the actual growth. Also my first sprouts of hair post-op 3 weeks are very fine and kind of lifeless, will these improve after the shedding stage and when will the real growth begin. How long will I have to wait . Anybody Cheers

I qualified for 3250 grafts. procedure took 7/8 hours. Dr did a tryphotic closure using stitches that were removed on day 10 whilst in Pakistan. First couple of nights slight discomfort this slowly subsided daily. Almost 2 weeks on donor area feels a little tenderish and little tightish and numbness is also decreasing. Many little hair follicules are sprouting out although I believe these will shed and true results are expected in around 8/12 months. Scabs have all been cleared through washing and soaking scalp after 10 days with small hairs falling out when washing, I believe this is quite normal. I also took pictures pre-op and shall be taking taking more pics every 3 weeks and shall post all of the pics together for everyone to see. The scar is looking finer compared to day 1 according to the wife. Feel like having a buzz cut but shall wait another couple of weeks untill tenderness is reduced further around donor area. Now I will just wait and see the results and let everbody make up their own minds up about DR Humayun's work. Please free to

Sutures are out just can see the scar at the back but was told that the scar will eventually decrease leaving very faint line or might be undetectable due to closure procedure? Just going to sit back and wait and see what happens got pics b4 op and shall be posting post op pics in a few months so everybody can see the results and make their own minds up about the DR. Im hoping to see Dr Humayun in Pakistan withinn the next week hopefully over the easter holidays as im off from university. So before any commitment I would like to ask many questions (i,e grafts per/sq,cm ,laxity best coverage, high line, low ,line, best fit etc) and also what I would like as a pateint and if it is acheivable, realistic goals etc instead of what the DR wants or what he may be used to.

Yes you guys are right, I think ill get in contact with some of his patients and see what they have to say as nothing has really been finalised yet. Also this info, should I request it of from or what??? because I dont want him to feel im snooping or questioning his authority if you know wat I mean, although going for a H/T aint exactly going for a haircut or for a walk in the park its something im gonna have to live with.

I,ve actually checked out in total 4. I also checked out Hasson & Wong the kings, unfortunately family travelling with me price, and my University studies does not allow me the privlidge. I also checked out a Dr in Bankok Thailand very impressive. Anyway after seaching , veiwing and many feedbacks I settled for Dr Humayun. This was after lengthy email exchanges and recieving various pics he sent, also the price, location and timming allows me to go for a H/T hopfully anything from 3-4000 F.U. grafts. I also requested pics to be taken before and post op not to mention the ones i'll be presenting 6-9 months post-op in order to for every one to see. So hopefully i'll be buying a new digi cam, arranging the finance tickets and hope everythig goes well. I'll be jetting off to his surgery end of March. He has also negotiated for me a good deal at the Holiday-Inn Hotel Plaza 5 star. So lets wait and see the results.

I asked for 4000 grafts strip and the surgeon online told me that it all depends on the laxity and also the density I.E if I dont have the mentioned then may be I could probably settle for anything from 2500-3500 one session depending, then come back 9-12 months later for the remainder. But if scalp allows 4000 grafts then he has no problem. But saying that, i feel i have good laxity and very thick wirey jet black hair . Im a 5 on the Norwood scale. He also said if that amount was not acheivable then maybe I could also consider FUE as well as FUht to make up a good numberas an alternative. So im thinking now ?????

Thanks for the response guys. I suppose you could say regulating and recommending drs is still in it's infancy stage. But, taking into consideration the hard work and effort you guys are putting in im pretty sure it wont be long before many other H/T Drs will have to be regulated or become members of a recognised organisation where it will be compulsory to demonstrate their competance and efficiency especially in parts of the world where real technology and methods of transplantation are still questioned. Years ago H/Ts were only for the rich and famous but nowadays although still expensive more and more people are finding the money to have H/Ts that has lead to H/T Drs springing up all over the place. I believe forums like this will pave the way for tighter control as this can only elvove it to something much bigger and better allowing people to distinguish between butchers and experts.

I have never had a H/T before. Im considering a H/T. I contacted one physician asking for 4000 fuht grafts and he said it all depended on my scalp laxity and density. He suggested that when I come I should settle for 3000-3500 as these are a lot of hairs andd come back 9months to a year later. i heard about laxity on this forum, never knew it existed.

Is it possible for any individual to join this society. Are there anysafe gaurds in place to avoid this i.e bogus fakers, cowboys, butchers etc to protect the masses from these immoral people. Also if membership is accepted does this in any form or manner elevate that physcians position etc giving them clout and recognition compared to physcians that are not registered. Anybody??

Does anybody know about this Dr ,his work, reputation and what he charges??

I contacted Dr Mhadevia via email and asked about the strip closure method and he replied by this ( "Well the linear scar which you always get in strip method is minimized by using tension free closure and standard plastic surgical principals. The hair can be grown through the linear mark by "Trichophytic Closure Technique". Post operative avoidance of weight lifting in Gym. is avoided for up to 3-6 months"). Could you possibly elaborate a little on what this means exactly. Thanks

Thanks Bill for the info, im trying to contact BBunty and see if he can post some of his latest pics from his 2nd H/T pre/ post December as to give us an idea what this DR Mahadevia is like. Obviously for me and enybody else for that matter going For H/T is a big decision and I would like to find out more about this person as I would like a good H/T and not be butchered in the process.
