  1. Thats true Irish, if the ISP assigns a dynamic instead of a static IP. I seriously doubt Bill and the rest of the gang log MAC addresses though, which are the only truly static identifiers that don't change. I could be wrong though. Wouldn't be the first time.
  2. Actually, I was thinking Bill and Grace were the same person. Better cough up some proof Bill.
  3. Just curious... do you guys keep track of the IP addresses of new users? For example, do you have a system in place to prevent 1 person from logging on under 5 peoples names and posting their views as if it is coming from 5 different people? Again, just curious.
  4. I dunno about that. Joe is tough. I once saw him eat a whole hat.
  5. Since Janna has already been seconded, I guess I'll just throw another vote her way. =)
  6. I don't think I have the information to answer your question, but I can give you my take on it. Anyone can create a board. I mean, if you have 10 crappy HT physicians and they all decide to create a board, and then certify themselves, then they are now all "board certified". This isn't to say that the mentioned boards are not great... more to say that when it comes to my hair, I could give a flying flip about what board a Doc is on. I care more about his reputation and RESULTS that I have seen firsthand. The moral: don't count on any board or organization or person or even hair transplant forum to be an advocate for you. Go do the research for yourself.
  7. Try a hair stick by tigi. It'll put a layer on the top of your hair, but keep the roots dry. Thats if you want a spiked look, of course.
  8. M&M, when you say keep your hair longer, can you give me a number? 1 cm? 2?
  9. Thanks for the responses. Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but I'm glad I did none the less. hairlosscure, to answer your question, I am going for approx 3000 grafts.
  10. I think he said he was 9 months post op? Cant really remember, might have been 11. Thanks for the PM Arrie. If you want to shoot me your cell #, Ill give you a shout sometime tomorrow. I live in Florida (Eastern Time Zone), so let me know what time zone you're in and what a good time to call is. Thanks bro!
  11. Arrie, Big personal concern. lol. I told Matt when I went in that my donor scar was the biggest deal for me, and I wanted to make sure it was as unnoticeable as possible. I have only seen 2 donor scars from SMG in person.. the first was Dr. Rose's during my consult with him, and his was about half a centimeter (but, as Dr Rose said, his scar was from a surgery performed by SMG in the 90's. I think everyones scar was wider back then). The other was a patient I met in Matt's office during my consult up there. I wouldn't say his scar was great... I guesstimate about 3 MM wide, and a tad wider at some points. It still wasn't terribly noticeable, but wider than I would have liked ideally. His hairline looked amazing. What are the concerns with your scar, if you don't mind my asking? How long do you keep your hair? Is it noticable?
  12. I noticed Janna/Matt posted a great photo album outlining several of Shapiro Medicals hairlines. You can find the link here: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=144985 I know they do great hairlines (which is one of the big reasons I chose them for my surgery on the 30th). I was curious though, if anyone knows of a thread where they posted examples of their donor scar work. Matt was kind enough to send me 4 or 5 photos, but if there are more examples out there I'd love to see them. Also, if anyone who has had a surgery done with SMG would chime in with their experience, what they think of their scar, and how visible it is (specifically, how close they can cut their hair before its noticeable... Matt told me 1cm), I'd love to hear about it. =) Thanks so much.
  13. This is something I am worried about too. In fact, I think its the biggest thing I am worried about. I am doing scalp exercises, and in addition I've bought some products that will help reduce the appearance of the scar (I hope), like Mederma. I'd love to hear a doctor weigh in on this. I spoke with Dr. Charles and Dr. Gabel during a live chat and they gave a bit of advice: don't try to "test" your mobility in the scar area at all after surgery. They said that its natural to want to test your limits after surgery. Hope that helps.
  14. Oh no, don't get me wrong. I could care less about bunny trails. In fact, I think I took us off on this one. =)
  15. This has turned into the weirdest thread I've ever seen. =) By the way, if anyone needs any witch hazel, I have extra.
  16. You should schedule your road trip on the 30th, so I can meet you guys. =)
  17. Ha ha Janna. =) I was thinking 6 or 7 pillows for when I get home... hope no one had mental images of me lugging those things onto the plane. "What do you mean I can't check 7 pillows for this flight?!?" =) And I know you are joking about the chocolates. =) With as nice as you are, I'm sure you have guys showering you with chocolates, flowers, and diamonds already anyway! =) By the way, thanks again for setting it up so I can come in Saturday morning. You've been nothing but great so far. See you guys in a few weeks!
  18. el guapo I am just like you. This is a big question for me, and I didn't want to move forward until I had seen for myself. The truth is, if you are anything like me, you'll be accepting but skeptical with anything you hear here. If you're anything like me, you wont be sold until you see it in person from a live walking talking previous patient. I chose Dr. Shapiro because I saw patients of his live and in person. I also know that he worked on other HT docs (and met some of them). In addition to that, I haven't seen one bad pic of his online (even searching for and wide and far outside this site). To answer your question, no, hair transplants are not undetectable. If you dig through the hair in the back of your head, you will find a scar, so thats not undetectable. However, when I met Dr. Rose and he told me that he had a HT, I said "Huh? What?! Really?" and asked to see his scar. I seriously couldn't tell at all. Since I've learned that HT's are not noticeable even at close inspection, I've focused more on the following: 1.) The scar. I am doing scalp exercises in anticipation of my surgery on the 30th because I really want to be able to cut my hair close and not have a noticeable scar. 2.) Future loss. I wanted to go to a doc that would be conservative yet effective, and take into account future loss so I didn't look like a freak show later in life. Thats my 2 cents, and again, you can take it or leave it. I hope it helps. But do yourself a favor: do the legwork and go meet some previous patients of docs that you are interested in or heard good things about. Hearing me or anyone else talk on this forum wont convince you (nor should it). Good luck man.
  19. I love you Bill. You know that. But I am also not a big fan of censoring anyone that isn't blatantly lying, promoting false claims/products, or soliciting business. Just my 2 cents.
  20. I narrowed my choices down to Hasson or Shapiro. Ultimately, I went with Shapiro. Have my surgery date set for Nov 30th.
  21. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ischemia Does this mean that there was necrosis on your scalp Tom? I am unclear on this.
  22. Dr Ron Shapiro in Minneapolis, Nov 30th =)
  23. I'm trying to make a list of things to buy Pre-HT. Any suggestions you vets could make would be helpful. So far, this is what I've got: 1.) Travel pillow 2.) 6 or 7 fluffy pillows (so I cal sleep sitting up) 3.) Mederma 4.) 2 loose, new hats 5.) Aloe Vera Gel 6.) Emu Oil 7.) Witch Hazel 8.) MSM 9.) Vit E oil Can anyone else think of anything else to add to the list? Thanks =)
