  1. i understand the questions asked to Spex and Jotronic are personal? and if you would prefer to PM that would be great.
  2. Hello Everyone, Some of you may remember me, but i doubt anyone would, i lurked the website for a while around a year ago. just to give a brief recap of who i am and my ideas June 2006- butcher transplant at age 20 January 2007-December 2007 On minoxidil and stopped on december 2007, Horrible decision i achieved great results BUT didnt realize it until i got off it. 2 reasons i got off was because dermmatch gave me such great results and because i thought it was mostly for the crown and i thought my crown was really good(i only thought my hairline was suffering) September 2007-Current using dermmatch gave me great after looks but i think it has mad me lose hair and i just decided its time for my HT. My goals out of the HT -Since i have miniplugs it is impossible for me to comb my hair back. i would like to be able comb my hair with no detection of HT -I had a butcher HT 2 years ago and i dont know how that will effect my future HT's. just incase it has effected my elasticity i will be prepared that i cant have a full head of hair. my route will be have an above average hairline and weaver mid-crown. i will not mind wearing dermmatch for the rest of my life -i understand this HT will be focused on my hairline, and i might require an HT in the future but i would not like to have another HT for atleast 5 more years. I Will have pics up in 30 minutes or so, i hate it that my camera kills my batteries. Well one year ago Feller quoted me for 1200 grafts. at the time i thought i needed less than that. now that i beleive i lost a slight more hair i dont know how much i need. i would estimate 1200-1500. can some of you guys recommend me on some route i should take? how many grafts do you guys think i need? i see some slight hairloss in the mid-crown area but not too too serious, iono if i should have some grafts drawn in there. i really doubt i can because i have a financial limit(credit card limit) so hopefully my midcrown holds up till my next ht in 5+ years i dont want to seem close-minded but i have chosen between two HT doctors, either Feller or H&W. I currently live in New York. Question for Jotronic(or anyone who can answer on behalf of H&W) i beleive H&W offer two nights hotel reimbursement if you travel to H&W. Thing is i hated my doctor and i no longer go to him and i do not want to go to any doctor to take out my staples so i would like h&W to take out my staples if i go with them. question is since i am tight budgeted, can i switch my 2 hotel tickets for the cheapest motel tickets? i really dont want to sound off cheap and i know this procedure is not where u try to take cheap routes but a major decision between feller and H&W, and when i visited the H&W site, they said each candidate is different and we can not quote a price Question for Spex or (anyone who can speak on Feller's behalf) does Feller offer any HT on discount if someone cancels and u take their spot? i beleive this option would be impossible for H&W since its impossible for me to get on the next airplane

  4. Im sorry to hear what has happen to you... as wanthairs has already said HT doctors can pluck out the implants and replace them and even split the graft in half in some cases if they were too big and make 2 peices or something along that line. one problem with that is if the previous doctor made the incisions(holes) too big and it would look awkward if your hairline had holes infront of them best i would do is consult with a coalition doctor and ask for thier advice possibly u are a body hair transplant candidate?
  5. haha what kind of travelers discount to you get if he lives in new york? haha if there is a discount let me know also! haha maybe he will reimburse the gasoline or lirr ticket?
  6. oh yea you mentioned wearing a hat after applying minoxidil, im sure its not a huge problem but i can see something wrong with it. possibly you wear the hat too early and it gets hot on your head and it evaporates the minoxidil and doesnt allow the scalp to suck in the minoxidil. and no i normally do not shed when im applying minoxidil, maybe i did a little bit on the early stages but now, nope.
  7. woah our paths are almost identical... i started losing my hair also at age 17-18..and i am 21 right now...and i use minoxidil and proscar....spooky... ok lets get to it first off i am to the knowledge that the lasercomb does not regrow any hair. they are FDA approved....for being safe, the FDA did not approve it for hairloss. big difference. now lets get on to proscar and minoxidil. i have been using minoxidil for about 9 months and proscar for 6 months. i saw fantastic results with minoxidil, regrew a lot of hair on my crown and mid scalp with it. but let us chime on some information. the hair regrown from minoxidil and the hair regrown/sustained for proscar are two different things. if you regrew hair from minoxidil and u stoped taking it, even though u stay on proscar, the hair gained from minoxidil will fall off. there was a time when i had work and school and i only applied minoxidil once a day or even none. this lasted for about a month. before i can realize it i was noticing some losing of hair. it just shows you how fast u can lose the hair if not taking the medication. when they say this is a life-long drug they mean it, you gotta take it all the time. yea sure it okay to miss minoxidil twice a week and maybe proscar once a week and nothing will happen but if you repeatedly miss them, especially minoxidil i think you will lose your hairs. btw since you are 21 as me, i thought id recommend you to dermapatch, you can research alot on this site for it, it did wonders for me, it makes my hair look like when i was a 18.
  8. Hello there Carl24 and welcome to the boards, one of the first responses is that people are gonna stern you away from bosley, they are a marketing company(not technically) who use advertising techniques to gather thier customers. and besides that you picked many of the best ht doctors in the world in Feller, Bernstein and True. i am also in the new york area and my two choices are Feller(gives you great value and is one of the best) or H&W(just cause i beleive they are the best and travel is an issue), but bernstein and True are also up there about shaving the recipient area, the reasons doctors do it is because it only makes the procedure easier and alot better. we are talking about something that will stay with you forever so why not take out the 3-4 months out and wait for the hair to grow back but there are doctors who dont require shaving, for a list on those doctors its better to wait for other responses or email the ht doctors yourself. and for 10k-15k im sure your getting a whole hell lot of grafts. for 10k youd prolly get about 4000 grafts and for 15k youd prolly get 6000 grafts. ussually its 3$ a graft for the first 2000 grafts and they give a discount on each graft given after that. hope i helped, tisab
  9. lmaoo...please tell me that last picture is a photoshop.....wait...is it really a tattoo???!?!?!?!?
  10. im sorry how can u tell how well the progress has been without pre-op pics. im sorry if they were posted somewhere else, i couldnt find it. there might of possibly been alot of existing hair's in the transplanted area... just asking thx
  11. woah the results look fantastic -i like the placement of the hairline -it looks as if your hair is very dense, which is good! and u had such great results for 2000 grafts, if u didnt get any further hairloss in the back you should be good for a very long time!
  12. hello and welcome to the forum 28andbalding, you said you took propecia 6 years ago for 6 months, are you on it currently? i know you said that u felt like you had some negative side effects, but i do agree with you , sometimes it really is all in the head. when you think about it normally, a normal person doesnt think about sexually things 24/7, he probobly only thinks about it for a small fraction of the day. so when people are on propecia and they are constantly thinking "did i lose my sex drive, or is this drug doing something bad to me", you get the point if your thinking about it all the time and ur only suppose to "feel sexual" for a small ammount of time it can get in your head. this paragraph was a big confusing hope u caught the drift but then some people do actually feel the side effects, they say it is reported in 2% of people who use it. im not sure of this statistic and many people on this board beleive it is higher than this number now lets move on even though it is not guaranteed that you will have the same case of MPB as your relatives or even if you may catch it if they can, some people do develop similar traits of MPB as their relatives. a more better way to see how far along your baldness will go along is to see your age, when you started to develop MPB, and the rate of you losing hair over that period of time. for example if you started losing your hair at 18 and you are a norwood 3 at the age of 28, you may end up along a norwood 5-6 later on in life. one thing about MPB is it is tricky and unpredictable. you said you have been on rogaine. i also use rogaine and find it to be fascinating. eventhough it is to regrow hair(i never heard of it actually maintaining the hair that you aqtually have) it may have ended up with more hair than you would normally have if u were never on the medication. i also want to comment on other things. you said you were tall, thats a wonderful thing, people cant directly see the top of your head and people wouldn't notice your hair first. also you said you were skinny. this is just a comment of mine but why not try to bulk up, hit the gym, it can take away from your negative thoughts about hair loss your view can be "hey im losing my hair, but im strong as Sh*t, i can prolly get some girls cause im so diesel" tall and diesel is a strong combination against the ladies. now onto your questions well you said you are concerned about losing the rest of your hair and not being able to fill it in later on. well the average male has a donor supply of 6000-8000 grafts, some have more, some have less. now depending on your age, considering you have lose hair later on, you want to take the conservative route. the conservative route is normally multiplying 1000 by your norwood scale. for example norwood 3 would need 3000 grafts for a conservative route. just for reference multiplying 1500 by your norwood scale is more of the route if your hairloss is set and u are not too far in the norwood scale question 2 well hairtranplants have come along way. there are two types of hair transplant phsyicians, good ones and bad ones. the bad ones dont go to, but the good ones will take care of this problem for you, they will be able to plan on where to place the grafts which will minimize any fear of permanent shockloss. i think this concern of yours is being asked less and less as these physicians take a good care of it. question 3 again, the coalition doctors(good doctors) have been doing ht's for a while and have mastered the minimization of scaring, you can check the gallery of many patients of many of the coalition doctors for the small scars. to your last question yes people have had transplants into area of moderate thinning, i have seen some good results , you might experience some shockloss, but most doctors like i said avoid this by shaving down the area and placing the grafts in the right place which leads to a net positive outcome hope i helped
  13. i can totally relate with what you are saying, ESPECIALLY part 1!! short story about myself, i basically got a bad BT at the age of 20, and i wanted to get a HT to repair and whatever to fix it asap which would be an HT at age 21. right now i am 21 1/4, and i dont plan on getting a HT until atlesast 22 1/2. with me being able to do this, i beleive i have control over myself and if i can delay my next HT, i can feel more confortable with my looks and i will be able to delay the next HT i have after that and yes concealers do work wonders!!
  14. im sorry for what you have went through, but this is these sites are a good start, not to just learn about HT's and educate yourself. these sites help you mentally, knowing there are others in your same predicament. i did want to say your case seemed to be a little more extreme though, im sure you agree also when u gave the situation about first thinking about going in public without a hat at your dad's funeral. RIP while yes i may agree that the grafts will help you cosmetically, i would recommend just getting your thought process straitened out first. what i mean about this is talk to someone in person about this problem, show him your hair and talk about it. it can be a friend, family member or someone who is in counseling. or better yet you can show your pics here and let us comment on it. you might be thinking how does this benefit you? you will realize its benefits once you have done it. for me when i saw a councelor at school, i soon realized it is not the end of the world and it gave me a new persepctive. the BEST benefit i received was i lost ALOT OF anxiety about me not having my hat on. anxiety from being around someone who hasnt seen you with hairloss is probobly one of the worst feelings in the world, and i lost that anxiety and it feels great. its also a long-life benefit which only requires 1 hour of your time. well that being said i hope your surgery goes perfect and that you get the growth that u rightfully deserve best wishes tisab
  15. sorry i meant to clarify that i meant in that situation, in which he is showing signs of losing hair. and im sorry to hear that you are infertile, i hope you were able to cope with it, im sure it was hard to hear.
  16. Hey everyone, i was thinking about this before, im not sure why but i was. Well im only 21 but i plan on living the normal life and well eventually get married and have children. and i guess its 50% 50% chance, the child will be a boy. its better getting a boy or a girl than a wife who thought she was pregnant but instead got fat(haha stupid joke) well anyway i know that hair loss is not 100% hereditary, but i guess there is a chance for my(your son) to have MPB. well for those who have lost a severity of their hair at a young age, will you have a sit down with your son about it or have him find out on his own, tell him to do research on his own? there are many different ways i guess, which way would you choose to inform him? and of course im talking about when he reaches a mature age 18+. i know it may sound weird but i hated when my dad said "hairless is nothing a lot of people have it", even though this is true, this is not what a young person wants to hear.
  17. Hey everyone, i was thinking about this before, im not sure why but i was. 18. sorry i forgot to answer the other questions to me it seems like as of right now you are around the norwood 4 scale. i hate to say it but you may end up along the lines of a nw 6. i have no experience with Hasson or Shapiro, but i have seen wonderful results from these physicians. 4000 graft seems like a decent ammount, the average rule is to multiple 1000 by your norwood scale and u get the number of grafts you should need(conservative side) as far as how your results will go, its best to go through the patient gallery of this site and find someone who has a similar hairloss as yours with the same ammount of grafts applied. your head and hairloss resembles that of Bill before his first HT. similar skin tone, forehead shape, i think he has a little bit lighter hair color. i think that favors him cause if skin color and hair color match, it fits better for cameflouge...i think hope i helped
  19. i am trying to evaluate your pictures but its very hard, too many pictures on one page, should of done it seperately so we can view the pics larger. also i know you used a different camera, but they seem like different angles, different zoom(s) from camera, etc. but i still gave it a shot. my first observance was your crown area, it seems like you suffered a lost of hair in this section in your most recent picture. after reading, i hope this is from the shedding process of rogaine.. i dont know if you regrew any hair, but it did seem like you maintained what you had(which is its purpose). your hair seems also a bit more healthier, it seems darker and thicker. hope someone else puts in some feedback as well to confirm with my thoughts
  20. people aqtually recommend that you be on propecia/proscar for a year before you get an HT, so you know what hair of yours is stable and which are on the way out. also strengthens your hair against shockloss
  21. honestly i agree with on what has been said, 6 months of being shaved down is not too long. this is your last HT, you NEED to make it perfect there are reasons for shaving down, which have been discussed. you say you are 50 years old and do not think you have many years left? comon now think more cheerfully than than! the average white male lives up to 76, and that number was taken several years ago. sorry to bring up race, i dont know the statistics for other races, i dont want to just throw out a wrong stat out there given that you are white or any other race you STILL have 20+ more years to live!!! live happy, and may luck follow you from now on
  22. i think avodart is suppose to block two types of DHT, while propecia blocks one type. so clearly hypothetically avodart is suppose to be better, but it hasnt been fda approved to stop hairloss. but many people have used it and reported that it works for them. since u are on avodart for a year now and think its working i would continue with it. i dont think its good to take both propecia and avodart
  23. i always heard that in my law class, even if there is a contract, there should be a void, null if there if it fell below a minimal standard of care
  24. haha at first i thought that was nervous nelly asking the question...damn avatar ^mp96 i think you have the two confused, dont quote me, but the vitamin E oil should be placed on the donor area. im not sure of vitamin E oil's benefits on the implanted area though. the reason its placed on the donor area is because the vitamin e oil gets soaked into the skin which basically creates an elastic feel to the skin which will help it lose the white color of the scar and more blend in with your acqtual skin color. the vitamins also have some rejuvination capalities toward the skin cells. the skin has 3 layers and the reason that once you get a skin stretch scar and cant get rid of it is because the scar is deep within the skin, ussually reached atleast the middle layer, and its hard to do anything to help out middle layer os skin. hope everything i said is clear. you can read more about stretch scar or striae(its dermatologist term) online but on to the original question, i would wait atleast 6 months before you get 100% back to your old self. i would touch light weights until atleast 4-6 months or heavy weights for even longer.
  25. First and formost, you should be able to ask your doctor whatever question that is on your mind, dont be nervous. the doctor is the one who sees you in person, and feller who has a wide range of experience should be able to answer your question without no nervous tension in the air. im not sure why he said for you to wait after your surgery to get on proscar, most people take proscar for a year, and then get a transplant. yea that sounds about right, i would say somewhere between 4-6 hours in total is the surgery time. strip and fue is all but a preference nowadays i think. you can research this site on the differences, and knowledge of the two different methods. the main difference well according to feller's HT's its 10$ a graft for FUT and there is no scar, and the strip is 3$ a graft and its cheaper after u get 2000 grafts and the scar he makes are thin so its not visible after i would say a 2 gaurd hair cut. hope i helped
