Reporting live from London Heathrow Airport!
Tubs replied to Tubs's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
PGP - Thanks for comment, I still wear Nanogen as it covers the crown nicely - as you can see from the pic. my crown is very thin but a sprinkle of Nanogen does a great job covering it. Tony - This photo was taken outside on a very grey day, I think it is probably helping the look - I will update the blog this weekend with a couple of pictures in better / more exposing light. Tubs -
Reporting live from London Heathrow Airport!
Tubs replied to Tubs's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
I have updated my weblog with a picture 4 months post op. Seems to be a big difference from last month (however, the poor lighting may be helping). All seems to be going well, I am very pleased with the progress so far. Tubs weblog -
My six year old kid did the ultimate - at his school a local radio station was asking kids about their parents, in the interview my kid blurted out: Kid : "My Dad had a big cut in his head" Interviewer : "From an accident?" Kid "No he had a hair tranplant, but it is better now" Kids generally take things their parents say to be true so I would suggest telling yours that you have had an infection but it is getting better. Good Luck Tubs

how long was the dormancy period?
Tubs replied to Jan's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Janis I was very pink for the first few weeks - the harsh "pinkness" seemed to fade after 4/5 weeks. At 5 weeks I dropped the baseball cap and nobody noticed (I didn't keep it a secret so I asked people if they thought my scalp looked "different" - they only noticed it was a little pink after I told them). I am now just over 3 months post HT - scalp still very slighlty "pink" but really not noticeable unless you are looking hard for it (which nobody is). I have a little growth, although even this maybe from grafts that didn't shed. Tubs -

It is now 3 months since my HT with Dr Feller ??“ I have updated my weblog with some 3 month photos. As can be expected at this stage little growth from the HT itself. The Propecia which I have been taking for 5 months does appear to have revived a little of the crown hair. I have also included a picture taken with Nanogen (I am always amazed how effective it is). I have not suffered any "doldrums", after about five weeks I had pretty much returned to my pre-HT position (a little red in recipient area but only people aware of HTs would notice / guess). The waiting game is not a problem, just looking forward to seeing the results over the next few months. Tubs -
pain meds and air travel?
Tubs replied to fusion47's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Fusion I flew from New York back to London 2 days after my HT (as have many UK guys)- I would have been OK to have flown back the following day. As far as pain meds - the morning after the HT the pain was minimal and I was comfortable on Tylenol. Best wishes with your procedure. Tubs -
B-Spot 100% agree with the sentiment you have expressed, I personally highly value your input (your recent "political" views helped avoid a serious injustice - cannot see a higher level of contribution than that). Back to topic of thread - great news Bullitnut - wish you all the best. Tubs

How long after transplant can you resume work?
Tubs replied to Rick055's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
As Bill mentioned, everyone is different. Personally I was at week 5 when I could drop the baseball cap without the it being obvious that I had surgery. I would have felt comfortable/able to work after a week, wearing a baseball cap, doing a desk job. Tubs -
Bill The above reference was not about me, i have been around for a few months. I think Ritchie was having a "tongue in cheek" jab at you for for welcoming the 2 of the new UK guys that week but omitting to welcome the 2 new "travelling" UK guys (PhilUK and UKRepair). Tubs

Dr Mohmand I looked at the photos and thought the third picture was very impressive, so a bit of research and I found the patient on Dr Marko website shown as a HAIR TRANSPLANT PATIENT!!! See link. http://marko.sitewizard.biz/patientphotogallery.html The same patient is also the 3rd picture on the HT section. Dr Mohmand I admire your spirit and do not question your integrity, I would however question your research - it took me a few minutes to find the above link. You appear a little too willing to accept things at face value rather than to suspect agenda's. Regards Tubs

UKRepair Congrats. on your procedure ??“ you must be "over the moon", glad you managed to avoid the "kissing" bit!! Apologies for not posting earlier, I got confused between you and PhilUK ??“ been a hectic week!! Look forward to seeing you "grow". Tubs

Anybodyknowsme Assuming you are in the UK - I bought mine from Holland & Barrett (own brand with big label saying "99.9%"), the distilled witch hazel can you purchased from Boots (in small glass bottle). PGP was actually giving you the right advice, I agree with Bill's comment, an apology might be in order. Tubs

Hi Marcello Very best wishes for your forthcoming procedure, it is great to see you sharing your experience, I found updates posted by patients themselves a real help in researching. Look forward to following your progress. Tubs
-
Hi Phil Always good to see another UK guy on here sharing their experiences. Sorry to hear about your previous experience, on the positive front you have chosen one of the very best surgeons to perform your repair. I am about 5 weeks post HT and so far very pleased with how everything has gone. Totally agree with your comments about Spex. Good luck - look forward to tracking your progress. Tubs

Cheers Richie Buzzed down to a #3 last night, at work now, no baseball cap. The shockloss around the scar is a lot less noticeable with the short hair and my hair is now all the same length. I like the idea of going for the sympathy vote - I'll give it a go!! No matter how relaxed I feel about it all i still check the mirror every time I pass one - I don't think there is a cure for that!! Tubs -

How do you not freak out your kids with a HT?
Tubs replied to a topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
I have two boys aged 6 and 4, in my experience, if you tell them then you can forget about trying to keep it a secret. I was OK as I never tried to keep it a secret in the first place. I explained to the kids that I was off to America to get some of the spare hair on the side of my head moved to the top - I also explained that I would have a big cut held together with staples. They thought it was very exciting and when I got back I had to show them the staples every 5 mintutes for the first few days! Before I went I made sure the kids sensed that I was happy and excited about getting it done and not at all worried, then it just became one of lifes adventures. I find that Kids are not scared easily, as long as they do not sense any fear or apprehension from the grown ups! Tubs -

I have updated my weblog with some photos taken one month after my procedure. If it wasn't for the shockloss around the donor scar I would be happy to ditch the baseball cap, but with a bit of Nanogen I can make it look better, I have ordered some Dermatch to see if that helps. I am in a bit of a catch-22 at the moment, buzzing the hair would help the recipient area blend in but likely to expose the shockloss / scar. I am not worried by how it looks at the moment; for me, the short term look is a small price to pay. The month seems to have passed very quickly, I am happy with the progress to date, sort of sorry to see the grafts shed around week two (deserters!) but happy that I could tick off a stage in my recovery. I will post some shots with concealers on the donor scar in the next few days and probably a shorter hair cut! Tubs
