  1. o I realize that this may not apply to guys/girls getting work done elsewhere...always follow the instructions YOUR doctor gives you regarding how to take care of your hair tranplant. BUT, if you go back over the years of my posts, you'll see lots of discussion on cleaning. I always knew cleaning of scabs and debris was important, but somewhere around 2011 I had a great 3000 graft completely bald (preop) lawyer who allowed such thick crusts to form that by day 7, he had "autoextracted" essentially rows of grafts that looked like bald rivers.... We later did a 2nd planned case and addressed the "rivers" at the same time and have several videos showing his progress and results....I'm quite proud of his final result, now about 4 or 5 years out. That confirmed my theory that what happens is on one hand you have hair grafts being revascularized and getting anchored into the recipient scalp...which gets more attached daily... And on the other hand you can get all this thick scabby goo that once solidified...actually has greater tensile strength to other grafts than the grafts do to the scalp....so when a few start to get pulled, you autoextract a river of hair grafts. I've photodocumented this a few times and now have done lots of cleaning lectures and videos. NEVERTHELESS, it seems really rich guys, and doctors and lawyers...never want to clean like I want them to. And frequent readers of my blogs or visitors to my office know that we'll help you clean daily for no extra cost. WE JUST WANT IT TO WORK! So I was particularly enthused when this high powered lawyer, who refused to come for us to help him clean...did a great job. And he's related to one of my favorite professors in my residency. Take a look and if you are one of our patients....do this. Otherwise do what your own doctor says. The video is : Dr. Lindsey McLean VA
  2. This guy walked in a few weeks ago and I'd completely forgotten he'd had work done at a big hair chain in the early 2000's. When you see his preop with us, you might wonder...like I did...did they do anything? Anyhow, he and I had both lost track of time. Instead of just 2 years out, he's nearly 6. And like a lot of guys he's his own worst critic. At some point I suspect we'll put a few more hairs where he's thinned but there is certainly no rush to do that. The video is: Dr. Lindsey McLean VA
  3. Here's a nice fellow who had a low yield strip case on the west coast. In addition to not getting much hair...he did get a noticable scar. I attempted to get him to let us cut out his scar and get some hair...but his boss, or wife, said just cut the scar out. We did this and got about 50% improvement...which, if you've seen my scar videos...is about what we average on scar excision and trichophytic closures. Sometimes we get 90% out and sometimes we don't get any improvement at all, but on average I get about 50% improvement. Since he has to wear a really tight hairstyle, he needed a bit more camouflage to that linear scar, so we did a few hundred FUE's. ALL that really does is keep the viewer's eyes from seeing a straight white line. He looks good, and is currently overseas so I hope to get 18 month followups in 2019. 4. Here's a younger guy that popped in 2 weeks ago, now 14 months out from frontal triangles and a little across the front. Wendy and I discuss his case, and our tips for younger patients. Any patient can use our conservative advice, but particularly younger guys, who may be panicking with the first hair falling out....we try to keep you from doing and impulse buy of a hair transplant. There is never a rush. Do your research, ask your family. AND don't pick a low goofy hairline that won't age well. LASTLY plan for the future. It may be worth waiting til hair loss is worse, or at least acknowledging that you'll need more surgery in the future. The video is: Dr. Lindsey McLean VA
  5. Here's an interesting guy who got a nice frontal "u" by us last winter. In addition to reviewing his case, Wendy tells you some of her thoughts on density of hair placement and factors that make transplants look more or less dense at the end of the case. The video is: Dr. Lindsey McLean VA
  6. Take a look at Geoffrey, now a year and a week out. Some of you guys may recall his 8 month video. As expected...he has some hair greed and despite having gobs of hair...he's thinking about another one. Hopefully I've discouraged that for a while as he looks fantastic. 7. This is a quick video showing a guy about 50 years old with very white skin, dark hair, fine hair who got 2700 up front with us 13 months ago. I was all set to do round 2 and finish that crown off...but he looks great. Actually way better than the video would show but due to his job...I was very restricted in his picture taking. In any case, this is pretty typical at 13 months to have a good small scar, shown in the video, and nice framing of the face depsite the color contrast mentioned above. 8. Here we discuss a man who has had scalp surgery, not hair related, but who was left with 1/4 inch wide scars on each side. Options for repair include FUE into the scar or scar excision. In the video which is GRAPHIC...we discuss these and show a full scar excsion, trichophytic closure, and day 6 view after the sutures came out. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA The video is:
  9. It's beach time again and I'm pleased to see folks at the Jersey shore in Avalon on either Aug 12 or 14. Interested parties should just call the office and we'll set it up. Most years I end up seeing 10 folks and taking a couple of postop patients in the area out for a pizza. So if you want to schedule a visit or if you're waiting on your postop pizza...please call the office. Thanks Dr. L and wear sunscreen. 703 356 3260
  10. This medical doctor with very fine thin hair and fair skin, is 2 years out from his first case and around a year out from the 2nd in the back, which is still growing in. He was kind enough to say a few words about his experience and frankly I was shocked his mother didn't know he had anything done. Take a look. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGI0uYGeK9A Dr. Lindsey McLean VA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGI0uYGeK9A
  11. This title goes with a different story...I've been struggling with Bill and Hans to get my videos to uplink. So you are correct this young guy is not the class 7. Additionally some text saying he's 29....I have no idea where that came from.... HERE is the class 7 guy. Thanks guys, hopefully either this is just my computer unsaaviness or its growing pains for the new site they have here. Dr. L
  12. As frequent viewers will know....I have no problem offering hair surgery to younger guys but we offer only more mature hairlines, plan for the future, emphasize once a person is on this path...they are on it forever...., and we try to have the parents participate in consultations BEFORE they sign up. I think that likely makes the most informed potential patients and it seems to be a good strategy. Here's another example. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA

  14. Some of you guys may remember Michael. We did his first case, and filmed and posted the entire event online, with his parents involved. And we did a second case several months ago. In brief, we took a kid who had very little hair, and no confidence, and gave him a mature hairline, and good coverage to the front of the crown. Once he started growing in, his parents, and Michael himself say that he got out of the basement, got a good paying IT job, got dates, then a fiance, and he just sent his wedding pics in. I've posted several videos of Michael....not because we changed his life, but rather to show that younger guys can benefit from HT IF done correctly, and often times if the parents help make the decision. Too often I see young men who have gotten a goofy low hairline that won't age well, and too little hair sprinkled over too much head. You younger...and older guys must plan to have this investment for decades..so plan for the future. We have another younger guy video coming soon. As always, for anyone, but particularly younger guys....do your research and do not rush into this. Educate yourself before your first consultation, and don't get sold something that sounds too good to be true. An HT may help your confidence, but only if done correctly and planning for the future! 15. Here's a quick video on a guy my age on whom we did a frontal strip case 20 months ago. He looks great, and we just finished him off. He did AWESOME cleaning this time too. Although he's not local, I suspect we'll get an update on him around Christmas. The video is: Dr. Lindsey McLean VA
  16. We saw 2 guys just this week who had "been sold" hair restoration by a doctor with what sounds like only computer simulation of expected results...In this brief video Wendy and I discuss you computers can't account for skill, or lack thereof, of the doctor, techs, and the donor and recipient characteristics or even healing tendancies of the patient. And I explain how even I...can get duped by simulations. Make sure if you are buying cosmetic surgery, or anything else for that matter, without doing your research and seeing examples of what your doctor has done. Like the stock brokers say...past performance is not a guarantee of future results, BUT...you are better going to someone who has done lots of cases with lots of good results, than making a decision on a computer image. The video is: Dr. Lindsey McLean VA
  17. Here we talk with a guy my age who does medial research on anti-aging drugs. Although he has fine hairs, he looks great at nearly 2 years....and now wants more hair to lower his hairline. He wears a short haircut in the back, I show a close up of his scars, and then remembered he had a no growth FUE before he met us. The video is: Dr. Lindsey
  18. Here's yet another medical doctor who paid for FUE, from a busy FUE practice....who had virtually no results. I've posted 20 or 30 of these cases and they are almost always the same. We find lots of FUE scars, most with hair coming out of them indicating the roots of the hairs were NOT transplanted, and in this case, a few surviving FUE's were scattered over a lot of balding head. PLUS this guy's scalp characteristics made it very difficult to see the slits, even with the head shaved....there is no way the previous doctor could see the slits or his techs could. Lastly...those grafts start dying at 6 hours...they better be back in the head by then. But every week we see a similar guy to this, from all over the world...and most say the case took 12 hours or more...Those poor donor hairs... Now lest you think I'm all anti FUE, please look at our recent 8 year FUE video. FUE and strip both have their indications...I just wish folks would learn the pros and cons before they choose based on and impulse response to a consultant. The video is : Dr. Lindsey McLean VA
  19. In this short video I discuss the options for high hairlines in women...reverse browlift and hair transplantation. We go over the pros and cons of each and show a lady on whom we did a hair transplant 6 months ago with pretty good EARLY growth. The video is: Dr. Lindsey McLean VA
  20. So for as much as I put up FUE disasters that we have to repair....here's a great example of a guy we did who was a perfect candidate for FUE. He needed a relatively small amount of hair. He wears a true buzz cut. And he has beefy thick hairs able to withstand the avulsive trauma of FUE. Meaning he is not a class 6 guy with wispy hair in the back that won't grow! The video is: Dr. Lindsey
  21. Here's yet another guy who paid for FUE by a "reputable" office with poor or little growth. We saw 4 of these guys on one day last week. Frequent viewers of my youtube channel will know we've been showing this for years, and even though we do 3 FUE's a month, and I did an FUE on my own son...MOST people ought to consider the pros and cons of strip surgery before they fall prey to deceptive advertising. Do your research and look at examples of both from the doctor you are picking. The video is: Dr. Lindsey
  22. In this video we show how we FUE hair into a linear strip scar, done elsewhere, to camouflage the scar. Even with that fine hair he has, at 12 days, the scar is concealed. Of course the new hair will shed but a year from now I'd expect his scar to essentially be like it looks on day 12. The video is: Dr. Lindsey
  23. In this short video I discuss and interview our patient who looks great after 8 months. In fact I'd forgotten we did anything in his mustache until after we started filming. Take a look. Dr. Lindsey
  24. In this short video we show our patient's progress at 9 months. He had virtually no hair in the central and upper lateral aspects of his mustache. We describe our FUE repair of this and although he has both fine asian hair...and is well less than a year out...he looks good and is happy. We're going to do a second case to work down the sides and so future updates will be posted as he grows in. The video is: Dr. Lindsey
