  4. Hi navjraj Yer i reconised the way you were sat with the blue wall behind you as Dr Fellers office ,your pics are so like mine . I'm 2 months behind you so i'll keep in touch and follow your progress . You will will have some more growth over the next year so don't worry . I've been on meds since june 2006 ,i take 1.25mgs of proscar per day ,i started on propecia 1 mg per day supplied from the belgravia center in london ,but supplied with a minoxidil topical lotion it was too expensive at ??250 ( $500 )for three months supply and the minoxidil made my hair look greasy which i didn't like . I now take proscar ,proscar is the same drug as propecia , the drug is actually called finasteride but packaged as propecia in 1mg tablets 1mg to be taken once a day to combat hair loss, proscar is also finasteride but in 5mg tablets which you cut into four using a pill cutter ,available from your chemist for ??2 ($4)and take a quarter ( 1.25mgs ) per day ,some people cut the tablet into five pieces and take 1mg per day ,doing that will make your supply last upto 15 months , i pay ??120 ( $240 )for 12 months supply ( i cut into four )if you PM me i'll pass on the details of my GP who supplies it to me . Your origional hair follicals on the top of your scalp are affected by the enzime DHT ,finasteride is a DHT blocker so it affectivally stops your origional hair follicals being affected by DHT ,thus stopping male pattern baldness , please note your transplanted hair follicals will not ever be affected by DHT because these follicals were transplanted from the "safe zone" . That's pretty breif but the facts are all there , i took some photos when i started on propecia in june 2006 , one year later and just before my hair surgery . June 2006 ,ignore the black and red hair dye hahaha i like to fuck around ,this doesn't cause hair loss ,that ,my friend is a myth This is in december 2006 ,note how the crowns are closing in. This is may 2007 ,still closing in and condition of surrounding hair is alot better ,thicker . This was the morning of my surgery ,november 2nd 2007 ,note how the crown has closed in ,not fully but the condition of my exsisting hair around the crowns is alot thicker than when i started . The pics arnt great but certainly show an inprovement . If were you i would start on meds as soon as possible to help keep your exsisting hair around your transplant richie
  5. "hi richie, would you mind posting few pics of yours. will help me to compare my position. regards " hi navraj ,i've posted three links to threads i have done regaurding my hair surgery with Dr Feller ,all my info is on them and some great pics ,hope they help bud. richie http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=154859 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=152301 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=153057
  6. wow it looks like my loss pattern and surgery pic ,in that H pattern with more thinning down one side of your scalp looks good so far mate ,100 days is only into you 3rd month ,you have alot more growth yet . HTs can still grow out for up to 18 months ,so don't worry yet ,good luck with future growth ,i look forward to more pic as my own HT grows out good luck richie
  7. mate your doing the rigth thing .now get on meds and research the hell out of HTs, this site and those doctors ,i went with Dr Feller and i've heard good things about Drs Rose and Shapiro good luck richie
  8. Your not kidding ng2gb ,when i came over to New York to have hair surgery with Dr Feller in november 2007 the exchange rate was even better ,the UK?? was 0.475 to the US$ . That ment you could get US $2.1 to UK ??1 . Dr Feller did 2100 grafts and charged me $7850 ,that worked out to be ??3728 . That is $3.70 or ??1.77 per graft . As a direct comparison against UK prices ,in february 2007 i was quoted ??1750 for 500 grafts at the Farjo medical centre in Manchester ,this was later reduced to ??1500 .I was contacted recently by Mick Mchugh and informed this was for a FUE instead of a strip proceedure ,but i wasn't aware of this at the time and i had never asked for FUE instead of strip . Even at ??1500 that would have cost me ??3 per graft ,that is $6.30 per graft !!!! As far as hair transplant costs go ,it is plain to see that it is definatly hell of a lot cheaper to go to the states and see Dr Feller than to stay in the UK . And we get ripped off for petrol (gasoline) too , shite country ! hahahahah richie
  9. mate do yourself a favour and stop torturing yourself ,forget the hair surgery for now and just stick with the meds ,get on propecia ,it's sometimes called proscar or finasteride ,but it's all the same drug ,other posters will proberbly tell you more about the meds . stick with the meds for atleast a year while you research ,research ,research .....then ,and only then decide if hair surgery is for you . good luck richie
  10. because i'm from the UK my girl wanted to have sex in america ,i obliged and had sex on the same night as my surgery ,made her do all the work though hahahahaha
  11. Check out my threads ,found in transplant and surgeon experiences FELLER UK PATIENT /richie 28 days later ....found on page 1 FELLER UK PATIENT /diy staple removal ....found on page 1 They both have good clear imformative pics on and should help you to have more of a clear understanding of what to expect . There are many guys on here who know what there taking about so do yourself a favour and do some research. I don't know Dr Leonard so can't comment upon him ,i'm sure there will be some posters who will offer there advice on him though, also don't be affraid of cancelling as it's eaier to get a reapointment then risking making a mistake Good luck richie
  12. firstly ,real sorry to hear about your hair loss ,for a guy to start balding can be devastating but there is still an acceptance that this happens to men , for a woman it must feel worse as hair to a woman is part of there sexuallity . I spoke to Dr Feller about this when i was having my own proceedure and one of the main problems with womens hair loss is ,the hair usually thins all over the head ,including the donor area ,making harvesting heathy strong hair folicals more difficult ,that is simply not the case with men as the hair folicals in the donor area on a man are healthy and not effected by DHT, DHT is an enzyme produced as a by-product of testosterone ,scientists don't know why it only effects the top of the scalp in men . That is why hair transplants work so well for men . Mostly hair loss in women is not due to DHT ,as it is in men but more commonly caused by an over active or under active thyriod ,iron difficiantcy and even as a side effect of the contreceptive pill or implant . Most women respond well to treatment from there GP ,so i think ,if you haven,t already ,that you may benifit from speaking to your doctor . good luck richie
  13. ace well done balody ,looks good i and i hope the miss's appriciates the GI look hahahaha richie
  14. shit man perhaps in hind-sight you should have waited a few more days hahahahaha ,still it grows back quick so i'm sure you'll be fine. I checked out your pics and i like the crown swirl plus i don't know if this will work for you but my girl found the shaven GI look a right turn on hahahahahahahaha take it easy bud richie
  15. emu and balody ,well done guys on your recent hair surgery ,it's easy and will probebly be the best thing you'll ever do good luck lads richie
  16. Dr Feller is just a good guy and an ethical surgeon and my pics show outstanding work . Don't know the other surgeons you mention so can't comment upon them . Consult with them all and i'm sure you'll get a good feeling when you meet the doc with whom you wish to go with. Good luck richie
  17. hahahahaha yer spex i've seen the film and 28 months later too ,i thought is was a cool title but my girl just called me a geek hahahaha girls never get good films anyway hahhaa later bud
  18. hahahaha by tea i ment dinner ,a meal ,dam it i'm from north yorkshire in the UK ,so i guess it's a northerner expression hahahahaa
  19. I was asked for pictures of my scar to show Dr Feller's outstanding work ,so after only four weeks i have buzzed my hair down to a #2 grade , this has enabled my graft site to blend as i cut the graft hair also . The following pics show in great detail Dr Feller's work and my own healing process . This is my scar on the left side of my head , this is round the back of my head , and this is the right side of my head. This is a pic to show that the scar ,although noticable from a distance isn't like a beacon on my head saying look this way hahahahaha . This is an interesting pic as it shows the difference between my white scalp and a very slight pink scalp of the graft site ,note i have had some minor graft shedding so far but most of my hairs have been growing and actually needed cutting when i shaved my hair ,i'm waiting to shed more but as yet ,after four weeks i have only shed perhaps 20-30% of my grafts , i have washed and conditioned my hair as normal and all the scabs have long gone . This is a pic to show how the graft site has blended with my hair when buzzed down to a #2 grade ,i went out this evening for tea with two of my pals in a well lit pub ,both said they liked my buzz cut and never even noticed my scar ,my scalp colour on my graft site is only very slightly pink ,hard to notice ,and both my pals are taller than me hahahahaha and neither of them noticed my scar and i even walked in first trying to see if they would notice hahaha . This goes to show that after only 28 days i can probebly get away without a cap ,beany ,trilby or whatever hat type there is hahahahaha. I hope people find this post helpful ,i think it really shows how outstanding Dr Alan Feller and his team really are . Richie
  20. hey frog ,i was waiting till the one month mark but as you have asked i'll take some pics later and post them in the next few days . buzzed my hair down to a #2 grade and you can hardly tell that i've had a transplant ,the recipiant area is still a little red but only noticable if your looking at it ,the scar is visable ,again if you look straight for it but it's disguised enough that people don't really notice and the bonus is that my girl is finding the shaven GI look a real turn on hahahaha later with the pics richie
  21. Just to clear up any confusion ,i was a hamilton-norwood scale two vertex which means i had thinning at the crown and slight temple recesion as you can clearly see in my photo below taken in june 2007 .I also had a case of alopecea areata infront of my right crown ,this would have certainly being lost due to male patern baldness anyway eventually . i've explained this on an earlier thread . i've measured the graft site again and in one place it is only just 8cms wide narrowing to 7cms wide , the lenth varies between 5cms and at the very most in one area 6cms and the area is not a circle but as you can see a square .I have worked out given that i had 2100 grafts ,thats grafts not hairs and with a good yeald i should see between 50-60 grafts per cm ,optermistic you may think but ,and i'm sure you'll agree ,figures cannot lie .i appriciate your concern for my over expectations, being a newby and excited by the whole experience, but this was discussed with Dr Feller and he has endeavored to give me the density and coverage i expect ,given my relativly small area of thinning and the fact i wear my hair longer ,surfer style . Below i have added pics that show my density from a side shot ,as you will agree it's always difficult ,even with my earlier outstanding pics to show all the hairs due to the use of the flash ,these pics are very difficult to take ,however it clearly shows a very dense crown area . i hope that clears everything up . richie
  22. hope this works as this is my first time at uploading pics The first pic is the neat and clean donor wound with staples by Dr Feller . Note how healthy it looks after only 10 days and how the safety zone is utiliezed for maximum safety and to limit any scar stretch in future , everything is taken into concideration for future surgery if needed . this photo is an excelent example of three things ,on the left is blood from poor removal of my staples ,I MUST STRESS IT WAS ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND WHO DID THIS , we were using the surgical tool incorrectly ,Dr Feller and his staff did explain how to use the tool correcly but i made a mistake when explaining how to use it to my girlfriend . In the centre of the donor strip are only small drops of blood from the staple holes after correct use of the removal tool ,this is what to expect . Still note how clean ,healthy and neat the donor wound is ,this is a credit to Dr feller's surgical skill .On the left you can see some remaining staples . No blood came from the donor wound , only from the staple holes . Done correctly after soaking the area in the bath i only felt some mild pinching from the staples during removal . this is a pic of the staple removal tool and staples , the staple on the left is how it looks inside your skin before removal ,the staple on the right is how it should look after correct removal . this is 10 days post op, Note i decided to use creams and lotions to help with redness or tightness only the once , this was so i could have a personal comparison to talk about ,the aloe vera cream on the donor site with staples WAS definatly soothed by the cooling cream and by keeping the wound soft did help wih comfort , the witch hazel on the scalp graft site seemed ,for me ,to dry the site out .i'm glad i tried them both but for me i stopped using them . This is not to say it won't work well for others as we are all different and have diferent physiology . This is an interesting photo as it shows the grafts and hair direction implanted by Dr Feller . Note how towards the front of the graft site the grafts follow the natural direction of my own exsisting hairs . Towards the rear of the graft site Dr Feller created two new crowns to give me back my origonal double crown swirls .his amazing staff had me in all manner of positions to get the best angle to implant the grafts where Dr Feller had made the slits for implantation , this gives the impression of the spikey looking hairs at the rear of the graft site .this incidentlly was how it looked if i shaved my hair down before it started to thin . the left crown swirled clockwise while the right crown swirled anti-clockwise so were the hairs met in the middle it spiked up ,you can see that Dr Feller's skill has enabled him to recreate that pattern . That to me is TRUELY OUTSTANDING SKILL from DR FELLER and his DEDICATED TEAM . i had 2100 grafts implanted into an almost square area measuring 5cms x 7cms ,this gave me approximatly 60 grafts per square cm ,the majority of grafts where 2 hairs per graft .Pictures like this show why DR FELLER and his TEAM are one of the best and most respected hair restoration surgeries in the world . richie

  24. alopecea areata is an autoimmune desease with confuses the hair folicals for forienge bodies and attacks them ,in my case this was due to my body having shingles and my immune system getting confused while fighting it .doctors don't really know why it effects only a small area or on some people their entire bodies .eventually i was diffuselly thinning around the crown due to male pattern baldness so who knows if it would have ever grown back anyway . Because the blood supply is still there and i'm healthy any transplanted folicals will grow normally as with any hair transplant ,Dr Feller expressed no concern over future issues with it .
