  1. Hey ngtgb What you should expect to happen is this ..... your hair shafts become thicker ,so any longer hair looks and feels heathier , with the thicker hair it becomes stronger so can be styled more easily or even stands up on it's own rather than flopping flat on your scalp ,it does little for the really miniturized hair ,they will improve in health but only marginally and mostly stay as peach fuzz type hair . So the parts of your hair which have miniturzed the most ,whether that be your temples or crown will have minor improvement ,however the rest of your native hair will see alot of improvement . You have already seen my med crown pics which show an improvment ,this is the evidence which supports my theory these pics show june 2006 to nov 2007 just on meds ,as you can see my exsisting hair has very much improved ,however were my loss was the thinnest,i had minor improvement ,i had no side effects . That's what to expect bud richie
  2. hi himthere I had similar trouble when researching my hair surgery , my hair line was fine but i was thinning around my crowns .first i got on meds , propecia first then later switching to proscar ,this helped stablize my hair loss and improve the condition on my exsisting hair ,my crown hair responded only a little with some regrowth but not enough to provide coverage ,so a HT was my only solution . After extensive research i had 2100 grafts densly packed into my crowns ,i have a double crown ,with Dr Feller on november 2nd 2007 ,early days yet however i have already seen some regrowth from the new grafts and ,after alot of research i'm confident in Dr Feller's ability to give me the density i am after . below are some pics of my surgery Below are some links with more pics to my previous threads as these may help. I my opinion you can't go wrong with Dr Feller ,he is one of the best in the world . Below are links to my threads http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=154859 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=152301 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=153057 i hope that helps richie
  3. ngtgb In the UK your can get propecia or proscar from your doctor on prescription but your have to pay for it ,some meds are free on our national health service but sadly not hair loss meds , not sure how it works for you guys in the US . I looking forward to showing off my funky hair cuts and various colours as it grows out hahahaha ,i'm confident i'll get the density i asked Dr Feller for ,mathmatically above 60graft per sqcm and end up with surfer hair hahaha Good luck bro richie
  4. Hey ngtgb Are you on meds yet ? and if not why not ? get on propecia or proscar that will definatly thicken up your thinning top ,unfortunally if your unlucky enough to suffer a limp dinkle you'll have to get off them ,but you'll return to normal in a few days ,but sides are usually rare . After time on the meds then decide if you want hair surgery . Oh and to answer the origional thread ,i'm only two months post op ,but i'm confident in my choice of surgeon ( Dr Feller )that i will recieve the results i'm expecting and ,so far have no regrets richie
  5. Hi frog I've posted the facts and i think people can make up there own minds ,i know they're guys who have had good sugeries and good results from farjo and are happy with them and i don't want to be accuse of starting any arguments . Rigth now i'm recovering from a third reconstructive surgery to save my leg after my accident racing my motorcycle in august so i don't wish to have any aggravasion . I've had my wrist slapped before on this forum for being too pro one clinic and disrespecting another ,this was the in the interest of fairness and i agreed with my repremand form Bill for my behaviour and don't wish to go down that road again . That said there is still a lesson to be learnt from my experiences ,the day i left the farjo clinic i was over the moon ,??1500 for 500 grafts ,cheap for a full head of hair again ,i thougt, and set about saving up . However when i learnt more from forums like this ,i calculated that ,with me being thin around my crowns with diffuse thinning infront of my crown area i would need atleast 40/50 grafts per cm to compliment my excisting hair ,mathmatically that equated to more than 2000 grafts to strenthen the whole area ,for me i still had alot of native hair left and wanted to fill in my crown with high density ,it was then that i started to consult different clinics ,hasson and wong ,rahal ,Dr Feller and even armarni ,i eventually chose Dr Feller ,had 2100 grafts which will give me well over 60 grafts per cm and very happy i am too ,i take 1.25 mg proscar daily with no side effects . The farjo clinic showed concerns for future loss and perhaps, looking back seemed reluctant to do any work ,they were always polite and proffesional in the consult . The lesson to be learnt from all of this is ,in my nieverty i would have parted with ??1500 and been dissapointed due to my high expectations when i didn't have the full head of hair i wanted ,all newbies should be aware of expectations and achievable results . As for the price and being contacted later and informed it was for fue ,i don't understand that either ,like i said at the beging of this post ,people can make up there own minds . just pics to show my hair loss and surgery I hope that helps richie
  6. Sorry janna but i am the guy who was quoted and there was no mistake on my part ,so let me clear this up for you , After i had hair surgery of 2100 graft into my crown with Dr Feller on november the 2nd 2007 i posted my experience and hair jouney on this and another forum in the UK ,in this i stated that i had a consultation with farjo on feb 14th 2007 and they quoted me ??1750 for 500 grafts into my crown ,they advised me to stay on meds ( i'd started with propicea in june 2006 ) until the end of 2007 then come back for another consultation ,Dr Bessem Farjo and mick mchugh did my consult ,within this meeting the price dropped to ??1500 for the 500 crown grafts ,can't remenber why ,i payed ??45 for my consultation . When i posted this infomation i was immediatly contacted via pm from mick mchugh ,he questioned when i had been ,i informed him of the date and time also that i had evidence due to me keeping corrospondance and my appointment card . Mick apologised for seeming like he was questioning my integrety and looked up my details ,he found my details and then rung me on my mobile phone (cell phone ), it was then that he remembered me and said the price was for fue and not strip ,this was never discust at my consultation and i was compeletly unaware i had been quoted for fue . Mick apologised for any confusion and wished me well after my surgery with Dr Feller ,Dr Bessam and Mick Mchugh seemed professional , however after more research i realised i needed more density to compliment my excisting hair as i wear my hair longer ,and decided to go with Dr Feller . here's a link to the origional thread ,hope that clears up any confusion. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=152301 richie
  7. don't forget ngtgo bald that this guy has also had 7800 grafts and 400 micro grafts too ,if you research most of the really outstanding hair surgeries and transformations from baldies to flowing mains most have had more than 7000 grafts in total something to think about when embarking down the HT route . you too could have hair like this guy but be prepared to pay alot of money hahaha good luck bud richie
  8. i don't know whether this can happen after twelve years on dht blockers or not ,he 's the longest i've ever heard of any guy been on them . But to be fair the guy is 43 and it could just be his age . richie
  9. NGTGB i've had it filled in with 2100 grafts with Dr Feller in november ,here links to my threads have a look bud http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=154859 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=152301 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=153057
  10. yer NGTGB i,ve uploaded a clearer pic from june 06,with clearer definition ,hope that helps bud. the first photo is not that great but i was as thin as it looks right across both my crowns ,more on the right crown with very little hair in the middle ( ),that sort of shape ,after taking propecea then swithing to proscar the area startd to close in and i had two smaller areas of thinning areas more like this ()()with a thin bridge of hair in-between ,hope that makes sence ,the rest of my hair got alot better in condition . I've seen alot of good results on proscar or propecea and i did have some regrowth were i was completly bald however this was very fine , baby hair and wasn't worth calling hair really .I shaved my hair down when i started on meds and again 18 months later to a grade #2 after my HT and my whole scalp hair is noticable thicker now . I would suggest anybody stressing about hairloss to try meds ,side effects are rare and reversable if you stop using them ,so you have nothing to lose and they is evidence that they do work . I agree NGTGB this is an excelent and imformative thread and should be kept going . richie
  11. started on propicea since june 2006 ,switched to proscar in may 2007 due to the cost of proscar being cheaper ,the only side effect was a lower sperm count ,not a problem cause i don,t want any kids hahahah . Suffered no erection problems or sex drive issues . below is June 2006 ,ignore the black and red hair dye hahaha i like to fuck around ,this doesn't cause hair loss ,that ,my friend is a myth This is in december 2006 ,note how the crowns are closing in. This is may 2007 ,still closing in and condition of surrounding hair is alot better ,thicker . This was the morning of my surgery ,november 2nd 2007 ,note how the crown has closed in ,not fully but the condition of my exsisting hair around the crowns is alot thicker than when i started . The pics arnt great but certainly show an inprovement . richie
  12. hi sparky firstly i'm gutted for you bro ,losing hair to male pattern baldness sucks like shit but you have it worse given your age ,the fancy names i think you mean is the hamilton-norwood scale ,google this and you will find info on your pattern of baldness . the advice from most of the guys above is right as far as there are higher risks with having a ht at such a young age due to future loss and how far your hair will receed down the back of your head nearer the donor area , research this site and you will quicky find the top surgeon in the US ,have consultations with them as they are the best to advise you on you predicament . it would be a good idear to start on meds like proscar or propicea to stablise your hairloss ,the active ingredience of both drugs is finasteride ,they are just different strenghs ,dhoose has expained that earlier ,side effects are rare and if they do happen they only last a short time ,first few days usually ,so if i were you i would start meds asap . give meds a try for a few years ,stablise your hairloss start saving because ht's cost alot of money ,especially to a college student Below are links to my threads ,good pictures show staples ,scar and recipiant area http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=154859 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=152301 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=153057 i really hope you find a solution by researching this site cute girl by the way richie
  13. yes, reading back over my threads ,i see your point Bill . Your right ,I apologise and i'll calm it down . I was trying to help but it does seem that my over enthusiasm got the better of me . yours richie
  14. hi more hair i used both by 20 days with no problems ,got some hair colour on my recipient scap area by accident tho and is did make it a little sore and a bit redder ,it was fine the next day ,so avoid contact on your recipient scalp hope that helps . richie
  15. hairman i'll say this once and take major notice DO NOT GET A HAIR TRANSPLANT IN THE UK !!!!! i'm from the uk and consulted two well known clinics in the uk ,then i went to the US and had hair surgery with Dr Feller in New York , check out stop hair loss now forum in the uk you'll find alot of info on uk clinics ........ take heed BEWARE feel free to pm me for more info richie I my opinion you can't go wrong with Dr Feller ,he is one of the best in the world . Below are links to my threads http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=154859 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=152301 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=153057
  16. Hi californiaross They look like shed hairs with the scabs stuck to them ,so your absolutally fine ,after ,as early as 4 days the grafts need to be surgically removed . After this time if you had lost a graft your scalp would have bled ,so please don't worry . It sounds like you were a little to gently when washing your hair and scalp over the last 3 weeks ,as you need to keep the graft site in good condition by washing regularly and massaging the scalp area to remove any scabs don't worry bud richie
  17. hi flyby I too thought ,well really hoped i was one of the "lucky" ones whose hair just grows from day one ,sadly it was not to be . After 28 days i had shed very little grafts and was loving my hair ,however during the next 10 days I lost loads ,I kept some however and they have since grown happily alone ,even had to shave them three times to match my #2 buzz cut . Now seven weeks later ,only 49 days later i have felt tiny stubble in my graft site ,these must have been the first grafts to shed ,tiny baby hairs ,you can only just see them and there's only a few but i have got a long way to go yet . If i were you i'd try to stop worrying about it ,because the truth is they'll proberbly shed good luck bud . richie
  18. Hi ss sorry to hear you where the victim of a bad sugeon but herethere is right you need to name the doctor and supply evidence to back up any claim . I hope your situation can be solved . richie
  19. Hi hairman Nourkin is only a vitamin suppliment and has no scientific evidence as to blocking DHT . Because it is only vitamins your body will naturally dispose of any exess or unneeded ones through your urine . Your man boobs or moobs as we call them in the UK will reduce with exercise ,this will also help with your sex drive .being healthy counts for a lot . Some peole have suffered minor sides with the use of finasteride in tablet form ,however these sides , usually return to normal after a few days . I would say stop wasting your money on expensive 'vitamins' and start on proscar or propicea to halt your hairloss situation , as these are the only scientifically proven meds to block DHT and halt the effects of male pattern baldness . hope that helps richie
  20. Also Chris You sound like you have very similar loss to me ,use these links below to have a look if i have a similar situation .
  21. hi chris propecia, proscar and finpecia are all the same drug , the drug that does the job of blocking DHT ,that's the enzime that effects the folicals ,is called finasteride ,this is marketed under different names like ,finpecia ,proscar and propecia ,in tablets ranging in strenth from 1mgs to 5mgs and price ,you only need to take 1mg per day for the drug to block DHT . Some people buy proscar in 5mg tablets and cut them into 4 or even 5 pieces ,this way it works out cheaper than propecia and finpecia . I myself cut proscar into 4 pieces ,and used to take propecea but it was to costly ,it may be cheaper in the US as i live in the UK . Below is a link to a similar question i answered last week . http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=144011 As for surgery , take your time ,get on meds ,RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH ,then make a desision ,it's life changing so don't take it lightly . Hope that helps richie
  22. X are you having a laff ??? you seem to be defending this choice of surgeon ,beggers belief that a man in your predicament would take such a foooking huge risk when this is your last chance ....... complete madness !!!!! DO YOURSELF A BIG BIG FAVOUR AND TAKE HEED OF PEOPLES POLITE WARNINGS !!!!!!!! Jump on a plane and go see Dr Feller in New York ,genius is the only way to describe this man . Good luck richie
  23. Hi kulmd Mate that going to look great when grown out ,excelent hair line design ,just out of interest how many grafts where placed in the front and how many where place in the crown ? good luck growing richie
  24. Hi dave You can't go wrong with Dr Feller ,he is one of the best in the world . Below are links to my threads http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=154859 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=152301 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=153057 i hope that helps richie
