  1. More_Hair,

I am a Chiropractor. It sounds to me like you are suffering from a pinched nerve in the lower part of your neck. You need to use ice to reduce inflammation. Place it over the neck and upper back on the affected side for 15-20 minutes. Do this minimum 4 times per day if you can. Hopefully this chiropractor that you are seeing is doing some form of traction of the neck to alleviate or decompress things. Ultrasound or light therapy might also be beneficial. Unfortunately with this type of injury the best medicine is time. It will resolve likely with treatment but it does take several treatments as any therapy takes a while.

Avoid doing things above your shoulders and looking upwards. Good luck with things.

  2. I am a little confused. Is the poster a patient that happens to be a doctor? or is the poster the physician that performed this procedure on this anonymous patient?

Ummm.... There is no doubt that the work is not good. Admittedly I believe that I have seen much worse and it is possible that things could turn out OK for the patient. The density would be very limiting even if it was high quality work. Hopefully things will be better than many of us suspect.

I hope that the poster is not the patient as this thread would be very upsetting to read. Keep in mind that the hairline is high enough that it would be no problem for a very skilled doc to correct things.

If the poster is the physcian that performed this work--shame on you. People are not guinnea pigs. Do not admit on public forum that you are learning. I hope you are not charging for this??

  3. Pushing 40,

Great story. There is no doubt that most people and myself included prior to finding this site, believed that transplants are plugs. It sounds to me like you are taking it upon yourself to educate others. I don't blame you and once my results come to fruition I certainly plan on telling more people. It is one of those things that I feel somewhat obligated to do as I know that there are numerous balding guys that would love to know the story. Good on ya.

  4. Aquarius,

It seems like I am always trying to defend you and keep you in check. icon_smile.gif I know you don't need the help, but I want to keep you around. You are different and in your own quirky way I know that your primary goal is to help others.

Man I wish that I was going to be in NYC or Minn. so that we could meet up. I have my own ideas of what to expect and would like to see if my Shaman intuitions are accurate. My thoughts of what to expect are:

    1. You're wearing stripes and chained at wrist and ankles while being rolled along on a silence of the lambs type dolley. Wearing the mask ofcourse.

    2. I look up and see a guy base jumping from the empire state building while clutching a Pabst blue ribbon.

    3. You hop off of the chopper that you borrowed from your buddy Rob Zombie.

    4. You drop off your last passenger. With the lights still flashing and the stop sign extended you ask if I want a swig of your Jack Daniels.

    5. Your mom drops you off and as she turns on her way you light up a fatty and ask if I need a hit.

All in Jest my friend. Couldn't resist. icon_biggrin.gif

  5. Flyby,

Yes, I have had a couple of comments about "you look different". I have also had a few strange looks at the hair and I am sure that they might be wondering something. For the most part though things are not too drastically different yet, but I am certain the comments will come in the future. Thanks for the comments and kind words.

  6. Hey guys,

Thanks for all the feedback. Don't worry I am certainly aware that it is going to take a few more months before I should expect to see some major changes. I will do my best to avoid looking in the mirror every minute.

Mrjb--I personally like the messy look too but unfortunately have to have the "churchboy" hairdo for my job. When things get a little denser I will likely sport the messy look more often. I am pleased with the soft hairline which allows for several options.

  7. Spoon,

I fully agree with what you are saying, but there are those that have slightly less 3 and 4 follicular units.

Take me for example. I have what appears to be quite dense donor hair, yet my yield was an average of 1.9 hairs/fu. Even though my donor is estimated to be almost 100fu/cm2, it would take a larger strip to harvest a lot more hairs than average. I am kind of a different case as it appears like I just have more 1 and 2 hairs per fu. Damn.

  8. Finally 6 months have gone by. I am posting pictures and trying to demonstrate with similar circumstances to original photos.

There is no doubt that there is a definitive improvement. These pictures won't show everything and I just wanted to state that especially along the part side (in the 2 photos) there are still some areas with limited growth so this will only get better.

Even though I am fairly knowledgeable about the process of HT's, I am no different than anyone and have certainly gone thru the doubting stage and also am still questioning what the final results will be.

Keep in mind that things will improve much in the coming months and that although I had a procedure of almost 2900fu, the hair count is a little lower than average. This is possibly due to excision of poor old scar or that I just have a thinner donor even though it looks dense. Who knows?

Just a reminder that only the frontal 1/3 has had HT's.

Interested in hearing some comments. Thanks for taking the time.

  9. The Shen Min shampoo doesn't contain any fancy ingredients that is trying to bs you about growing hair, but that is what is nice about it. Just a plain shampoo that is all natural and has a tingling sensation on the scalp and all at a fair price. It leaves your hair feeling very clean and healthy.

  10. Kingsley,

Personally I believe that it is nothing more than a high quality shampoo. If you are looking for it to do anything more than make your hair soft and manageable it ain't going to happen.

If the company is promoting that it will grow hair or stop hairloss than I would have to say that they are trying to scam us. I am unaware of such claims.

Bottom line--great shampoo that will make your hair feel soft. Nothing more. Is is worth the money? Debateable. I have wasted more money or lesser things.

Try Shen Min-Vitalize. I think that it is $12 a bottle and also makes hair feel clean and manageable and has no harsh chemicals.
