  1. Nobuzz,

This was better than a cat fight. There was accusations from homosexuality to beastiality. Every explicit in the book was tossed about.

I tried to play moderator/referee but the truth is it was awesome. I knew it was harmless. I will miss Aquarius though. I had a feeling that deep down he truly wanted to help others. Not sure of the language barrier but that is also going to be missed. If you read this bud--take care.

  2. Bill,

I commend you for altering the rule. It takes a big person to address members, listen and follow thru with their wishes.

I truly believe that this is the best thing for the forum. Could it be abused? Certainly. If that be the case than those situations should be dealt with accordingly. As Nobuzz stated, we need to hear from those that are more educated than most of us members. I trust that many of the members are bright enough to make an informed decision. I hope that it actually will make other clinics take note and make efforts to be a little more present on this forum. They have the right to do so and I believe that they are doing themselves a disservice by not posting.

No doubt there needs to be rules. However, I for one think that it is in the best interest of the forum to allow more "free reign." Some of it is silly, comical and full of nonsense at times, but oh well. I personally need a little mix from time to time to keep my interest here. If everytime I log on I see the same old question of "my grafts have shed after 8 days--have they died?", I will quickly get bored and frustrated and be moving on. Even the 10 rounder between Aquirius and NG2GB the other day had me in stitches. Is this stuff appropriate for the forum--ofcourse not, but man was it humurous. In fact I think we need another visit from Grace--we know you enjoyed that Bill. icon_smile.gif

    Where is Pat anyway??

  3. It also creates an unbalance for other physicians who are not as active on the forum.

    Bill,

As stated earlier, I understand that there has to be rules and you are trying to preserve the integrity of the forum. However, we are always trying to see the work of other doctors and it is you and Pat that have been encouraging physicians to become more active. For those that are not, it is their loss. I personally will never recommend a physician (whether coalition or not) that I have not seen a lot of their work posted here.

Can I leave you with an example? Myself and another guy both worked for the same clinic. We eventually went our own way but were only 20 minutes from each other. We thought it was a good idea not to advertise anywhere near each other since most of our ads looked similar since we got our ideas from the same source. Well ofcourse this didn't work. Periodically I/or he would accidentally advertise in each others "territory" because we were anaware of the circulation boundaries or whatever. All it did was cause problems because I was so concerned about where and with whom I could advertise. We finally talked and decided everything was fair game and not to worry about it.

The moral of my story is that I believe it is a gray area here. Just because a post title doesn't state "looking for the best" doesn't mean that the poster isn't looking for the best. You are going to scare aware some of the excellent members who happen to work for clinics.

By the way, I agree with Janna. One of the big reasons I went to Shapiro is because the owner of this site went there. A bias is created whether meant or not. You are paid and have a link to your story.

  4. I guess there has to be some form of rules, but essentially every poster on this forum is looking to be educated and ultimately looking for a great physician to do it. I have had feedback from all of the members that work for certain physicians and none have crossed the line.

There was a previous post where the member asked the question "who is the best doc for..." Spex responded with several photos from Dr. Feller. This was the closest I have seen where it appeared to be slight solicitation.

What if the poster had titled things. "I need a great hairline." Ofcourse it is implied that he is looking for the best physician. Are those members employed by docs allowed to respond?

Common Bill. Lets bring some of the fun and spontaneity back to this site with less strict guidelines. We can still educate and learn while having a good time. Allow the members to use their own judgement if they believe that they are being hussled by a physicians representative. If it becomes too overbearing they can be removed from site.

  5. Wiz kid,

Your thinking is in the right direction but ofcourse there are some unknowns and as Bill already pointed out, this is a challenging assessment to make.

I will state that I have definitely seen some 3500fu cases that look no better than a 2800fu case given that they had similar hair characteristics. The real variable often overlooked is the hair shaft thickness and whether it has some curl to it or not.

  6. Hey everyone. I have commented on this in the past and I just want to reiterate things as I truly feel it is something that is overlooked and there is not enough discussion about. The chosen height of the hairline is crucial in my opinion. Yes all of us would like to have the old high school hairline, but it is usually not a smart move. By going with a hairline that is just 1 cm higher can save several hundred or more precious grafts that will only allow for more density. In doing so, it will also negate any fears of being too low should you lose a lot of native hair in the future. You can always lower in future.

I would like to point out member NW5a as an example of a perfectly chosen hairline for his situation. It frames his face perfectly and allows for optimal density given his characteristics. See his results here: http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/content.asp?CopyID=1239&WebID=371

I fully understand that each and every situation is totally different and it is challenging to make a blanket statement about having a conservative hairline, but I truly believe it best to error on it being higher.

Just me rambling again and hopefully educating some newbies.

  8. NW5a,

I appreciate your efforts to demonstrate everything as accurately as possible. I have also tried to do the same by showing some photos with wet hair. As stated, it is the illusion of a full head of hair. Dr. Heitmann has done a wonderful job with only 3600 fu. Things look great.

In regards to your future HT it is all a personal judgement call. I am similar to you in that my priority is the frontal and mid region. My plan if I sit in the chair again is to thicken the hairline and frontal 1/3 as much as I can while keeping it natural.(likely <800fu) I would then like to provide grafts to the mid core extending towards the crown making the bald area smaller but not necessarily putting Fu into it. I would think that this would be a good plan for yourself also. The type of hairstyles that you wish to have will also be a factor. So far you look awesome. I am happy for you.

  9. Not sure what I think of all this. Sometimes it is best if you just ignore someone and turn and walk the other way. If someone dares you to hit them, do you? Hmmm... Well certainly Aquaruis did push a lot of buttons in the last little while so it doesn't surprise me that he got the boot. I did try to warn him.

  10. Hey boys--maybe put pride aside and delete all of your posts before Bill gets a glimpse. You each got a few jabs in and should have gotten things off your chest. Just my opinion as I don't know if I could save you on this one. If you want to hang out here I would call it a draw and move on.

  11. You stated yourself a very key point--"which doctor is right for me?" We can only give you the names of quality physicians and it is up to you to find the right match.

I like the list that was given to you by other members. All are very talented docs and will definitely provide a great cosmetic improvement. The only thing that I will add and ofcourse this is just what I have seen and is my opinion, but if you have very dense hair behind where you are needing work then Dr. Rahal might be a better choice. Possibly it is just that I have seen more cases of his work with this situation, but it seems to me that he has a better ability to pack a small area with very high density and maintain a natural look.

  12. WTF??? How did doctors years ago think what they were doing was a cosmetic improvement? When they saw the final results were they not horrified? Did they really like the work that they did? How could you look someone in the eye and say "there we go what do you think?"

Take a look at those nasty plugs in the photo section that were just repaired by Dr. Beehmer. I just don't get it! Can you imagine a plastic surgeon putting in pointed breast and it being acceptable? Maybe on anther planet.

Do you believe a doctor actually posted some pathetic photos of his work and asked us about our opinion? He obviously thought it was good stuff or he would never have subjected himself to such verbal abuse. This whole thing is very puzzling.

Sorry, just had to vent for a moment. I'm now cool. icon_smile.gif

  14. Already done that. I didn't get married until I was 34. Being young, single with money was definitely interesting. Might have been scarey had I had a little more hair. One day will have a few stories for you over a beer or 2.

But seriously, yes will experiment. Too long with the same boring lid. Options....What a cool concept. I would certainly love to be able to just jump out of shower and do nothing and still look good.

  15. Janna,

The goody, goody look was also somewhat out of necessity. With old work a guy gets more and more creative to try ensure that it is not too visible. The new hair will certainly provide more options which will be welcomed. The messed up look has always been a favourite as it is simple. The fauxhawk is the coolest and would love to be able to adopt it but believe it will only be pulled off if I get a little more work done in the midcore and into crown. Time will tell. I am just happy to have some hair. Thanks for the feedback.
