Hi Michael,
You should stop playing with your hair, this can cause it to thin.
If you're suffereing from MPB then the three drugs you should use are Finasteride (Propecia), Minoxidil (Rogaine) and Nizoral Shampoo.

Yes, but you will have to use it forever if it is helping. I only used it to help my HT grow in quicker and only applied it to my crown.

I used minoxidil post op and I believe it did help my HT grow in quicker. I stopped using it 13 months post op and my hair never changed. Like spex says it's the native hair which could become dependent on it and not HT hair.
P.S. You don't have to apply it to your native hair, just your HT recipient area.

Hi HM,
If you look long enough you will see the top docs have different methods and approaches which means their results don't look the same.
Is Dr. Rahal's quote in Canadian Dollars?
-
You could try concealers such as Toppik or Dermatch.
-
Welcome HM,
You are really lucky you've found this site and didn't go to them hacks known as The Hospital Group here in the UK.
Research is the key, travel and cost should not be a factor.
Hope this helps, if you have any questions just ask.

Six months is still early. And for a crown transplant it is VERY early.
-
You should look ok after two months. It will depend on whether you have any shockloss in the donor or recipient area. Also, some people's recipient area is still pinkish in colour then. Everyone heals differently.
-
Welcome storky! Yeah, research is the key.
-
Hi aaron,
I understand why you're not happy, good luck with your next step.
-
Yeah, you should go for strip with the amount of grafts you need.
-
For me, the suture removal was quick and painless.
But I've read that you can soak your donor area in the bath beforehand so they come out easier.
-
Hi Take a chance,
I had 2803 grafts planted into a 60cm2 area of my crown and I am thrilled with my result.
-
Hi bllorayne,
You seem to be a diffuse thinner. Typically, diffuse thinners are not good candidates for a HT but there are exceptions.
What is your family history of hairloss?
Have you had any regrowth from the meds?
How long has your hair been like that?
-
Wow, that's gonna look great. You'll have plenty of grafts in reserve too with your donor density. Congrats.
-
Yeah, we need to see some pics. What is your family history of hairloss?

Hi sole_man,
I paid about ??5300 for my HT including flights, hotel, etc. But the exchange rate was better then and Dr. Rahal's prices have risen a bit since as well. His current prices are on his website if you missed them, he also offers a travel discount for international patients.
-
Typically, growth starts after 3-5 months.

Hi sole_man,
Like the others have said Research is the key. Do as much as possible and you'll start to see the different methods and approaches of all the Doctors. If you really like the results of one particular Doctor then your search is over. If you like the look of a couple then you can let distance and cost be a factor.
Hope this helps, if you have any questions just ask as I am in the UK too.
-
My advice is to stock up with food and drinks before your HT so you can take it really easy the following couple of days.
-
I flew from the UK to have a HT with Dr. Rahal and I'm very happy with my result.
-
It could be Alopecia Universalis.
-
The liquid rogaine irritated my scalp as well, the foam didn't. But I think it's quite common for people to have a reaction from either form or both.
It's very common for shedded hairs to have a bulb attached.

Hi sachin,
You've asked some really juicy questions so I'll give them a shot.
1. I'm very happy with my HT, check out my blog.
2. No.
3. Yes. The majority maintain their hair, a small minority are lucky to get regrowth.
4. I had FUT and it didn't really hurt. FUE is less painfull. But it's subjective and everyone is different.
5. I wouldn't let Alvi Armani touch my head.
6. It's been around the corner for the last 10 years. I wouldn't bet on it.
7. Research as much as possible is the key. People who understand HTs and don't have unrealistic expectations usually end up happy. If you have a lot of native hair left, it's highly recommended to take Propecia after your HT.
Hope this helps.
