  1. Cheers mate! Yeah this is the third time for my scar. I actually got this touch up done under the guarantee because I didn't want a full session and my crown doing too. I was quoted 2-3 sessions so my next full session will be paid for and I will do the crown again and the scar if it needs it. But I want to hold it off for as long as possible. And yes scars are unpredictable with how they react to the ink. Just like they are when it comes to revisions, FUE grafts, lasers, etc. Unfortunately the only way to find out how they react is to try it.
  2. The scar faded further and I had it touched up 6 weeks ago. I am very happy with how it looks now and will be thrilled if it stays like this. Touch up. 6 weeks.
  3. Hi jordan, Sorry to hear about your bad experience with SMP. I have the same questions as hrsp10 and I think you would get more responses if you were to post pics in this thread. But if you're not cool with that then pics via PM would be fine.
  4. You shouldn't judge SMP from pictures took immediately after when the dots are fresh and have a 3D effect. The dots will scab off after about a week, then the ink will settle down and the dots will be less visible.
  5. I'd had two sessions one week apart and 4 weeks after my second session it had faded enough to warrant a touch up, which I had two weeks ago. It has faded somewhat now but I don't think completely. Everyone is different but I think short term fading happens somewhere after 6-8 weeks. And it's still possible for fading to occur after then too. hairthere made a good point about getting a patch test done first to see how your scar reacts to the ink.
  6. I think white and flat is good compared to red/pink and bumpy. If I were you I would do your bosley scar and your recent one from Konior. With my scar to start with they matched the colour with my shaved hair and it looked great until it faded. I have had my scar touched up now and gone two shades darker to compensate for the fading. I will update my thread after the short term fading. If you go too dark to start with and the ink holds too well, which is highly unlikely but possible, then you could end up with a black line instead of a scar. So this is why I think the conservative and wait and see approach is good when you are using permanent ink. It is easier, cheaper and less painful to add more ink than getting ink lasered off. If my scar were to noticeably change colour in the future then I would just go back to how I was wearing my hair before the SMP.
  7. I'd say it depends on how you want to approach it. I think HIS are more conservative when it comes to scars and personally I think that's good when you are dealing with permanent ink. If you want to be even more cautious then HIS are now doing temporary ink as well. Not sure this industry is new to HIS either, they have been going since 2002. How big is your scar? Pics? Red/Pink? Raised?
  8. Thanks for the comment Spanker. I believe SMP is a very good option for putting the finishing touches onto good HT work. SMP is also a good option for repairing poor HT work and for virgin scalps who want a shaved look.
  9. Thanks man. I have only suffered from crown loss, here are some pics from pre op HT 1 six years ago. My crown would be slick bald by now if I hadn't done anything.
  10. Thanks Arrie! I'm lucky that I can pull off the military hair style but I'm going to grow it a bit on top so I can style it. And see how it looks with the SMP in the crown.
  11. Just took these pics after my haircut. The scar is looking much better but I think it'll need another session, I don't think too many people get away with just two sessions in the scar. They can really suck up the ink. The SMP in my crown does a good job of adding density and looks great but my crappy camera doesn't do it justice. Looks much better in person.
  12. Thanks for the comments guys. Mickey, My scar is flat apart from one small area at the back where it's raised slightly.
  13. Hey everyone! I've had permanent SMP at HIS Hair in Manchester with Danny on Thurs 20 March and Thurs 27 March 2014. Both sessions lasted 2-3 hours and went great, Danny is a top bloke. He used shade 32 on the scar and 30 in the crown for session one. And 30 for both in session two. I'm going to wait a while to see how this turns out before deciding if/when I go for a third session. Before. After 1st session. After 2nd session.
  14. I agree. Sorry to hear about all these problems guys, keep fighting though and don't give up. I go to bed happy each night knowing it's one more day since I last ingested that shite into my body.
  15. There is a very good chance you have the same hair genes as your Father. Take a chance and try and get off Finasteride is my advice.
  16. I'd say 12 months until it is fully healed and I can buzz down to a grade 3.
  17. I think you'll find that the majority of the commonly known "best" Docs insist on shaving down. Do they all insist because it is quicker or because it produces better results? Maybe some of the Doctors who aren't considered one of the "best" and are less busy will not insist on shaving down and use it as a USP? After all, the HT industry is a multi million dollar one.
  18. There are two types of shock loss which are permanent and temporary. The former happens when the hair is weak and was going to fall out anyway but is shocked out permanently from the trauma of surgery. It can also be caused if the Surgeon transects the native hair when planting in between. The risk is reduced when shaved down because it is easier to see. Temporary shock loss is unavoidable but will return after 4 to 5 months like the main man spex says. Shaving down also allows the Surgeon to see the exact angle which the hair exits the scalp and can be copied with the transplanted hair.
  19. Keith has thicker hair than you but you have a better colour for transplanting (dirty blonde means less contrast with your skin) and although it's finer it looks good quality. I think you would be very happy after 3500 grafts to the frontal third with Dr. Rahal but I am biased.
  20. I'd recommend shaving down. But shaving the recipient area only or shaving your whole head is a tough decision and I have done both. Recipient area only means it is easier to hide the scar(s). The whole head means it looks a lot better and is easier to keep clean. Good luck.
  21. If your loss is stabilised and has been for a couple of years I would go for 3500 grafts in the frontal third. If you are still losing hair I would go for 2000 - 2500 grafts in the frontal third. I assume you are talking about the strip/FUT method and your 10,000 graft estimate for donor supply is from a reputable Doctor. Good luck.
  22. ramesh, The work looks normal to me. But you now have the very long wait ahead so try and forget about it and be patient. Which I know is a lot easier said than done. Congrats and good growth to you.
  23. Cheers mate. I am happy but I don't think even Dr. Rahal could fit anymore grafts into my crown. And the rest of my hair is holding up well so I'm good for now. I'm sure you'll be cured of hair greed after your next one too.
