  1. congrats man this is your third one right? hope this one lasts for you

if not since you've had your third it should be guaranteed against fading one year from your first session

after talking a lot with one HIS rep they say scars can take up to 3-5 sessions or more and some scars apparently "suck up ink" a lot

Cheers mate! Yeah this is the third time for my scar.

I actually got this touch up done under the guarantee because I didn't want a full session and my crown doing too.

I was quoted 2-3 sessions so my next full session will be paid for and I will do the crown again and the scar if it needs it. But I want to hold it off for as long as possible.

And yes scars are unpredictable with how they react to the ink. Just like they are when it comes to revisions, FUE grafts, lasers, etc.

Unfortunately the only way to find out how they react is to try it.

  2. those are good points El Nino

how many procedures did you have before it faded? and how long after did the fading happen?

I guess better to go conservative as you mentioned with permanent.

I'd had two sessions one week apart and 4 weeks after my second session it had faded enough to warrant a touch up, which I had two weeks ago. It has faded somewhat now but I don't think completely.

Everyone is different but I think short term fading happens somewhere after 6-8 weeks. And it's still possible for fading to occur after then too.

hairthere made a good point about getting a patch test done first to see how your scar reacts to the ink.

  3. I think white and flat is good compared to red/pink and bumpy.

If I were you I would do your bosley scar and your recent one from Konior.

With my scar to start with they matched the colour with my shaved hair and it looked great until it faded. I have had my scar touched up now and gone two shades darker to compensate for the fading. I will update my thread after the short term fading.

If you go too dark to start with and the ink holds too well, which is highly unlikely but possible, then you could end up with a black line instead of a scar. So this is why I think the conservative and wait and see approach is good when you are using permanent ink. It is easier, cheaper and less painful to add more ink than getting ink lasered off.

If my scar were to noticeably change colour in the future then I would just go back to how I was wearing my hair before the SMP.

  4. I'd say it depends on how you want to approach it.

I think HIS are more conservative when it comes to scars and personally I think that's good when you are dealing with permanent ink.

If you want to be even more cautious then HIS are now doing temporary ink as well.

Not sure this industry is new to HIS either, they have been going since 2002.

How big is your scar? Pics? Red/Pink? Raised?

  5. Just took these pics after my haircut. The scar is looking much better but I think it'll need another session, I don't think too many people get away with just two sessions in the scar. They can really suck up the ink.

The SMP in my crown does a good job of adding density and looks great but my crappy camera doesn't do it justice. Looks much better in person.

  6. Hey everyone!

I've had permanent SMP at HIS Hair in Manchester with Danny on Thurs 20 March and Thurs 27 March 2014. Both sessions lasted 2-3 hours and went great, Danny is a top bloke.

He used shade 32 on the scar and 30 in the crown for session one. And 30 for both in session two.

I'm going to wait a while to see how this turns out before deciding if/when I go for a third session.

    Before.

  7. There are two types of shock loss which are permanent and temporary.

The former happens when the hair is weak and was going to fall out anyway but is shocked out permanently from the trauma of surgery. It can also be caused if the Surgeon transects the native hair when planting in between. The risk is reduced when shaved down because it is easier to see.

Temporary shock loss is unavoidable but will return after 4 to 5 months like the main man spex says.

Shaving down also allows the Surgeon to see the exact angle which the hair exits the scalp and can be copied with the transplanted hair.

  8. Thanks for the replies!

The forum member keithh, his results inspired me. He had 3,600 by Dr. Rahal.

Do you think this is asking to much?

Keith has thicker hair than you but you have a better colour for transplanting (dirty blonde means less contrast with your skin) and although it's finer it looks good quality.

I think you would be very happy after 3500 grafts to the frontal third with Dr. Rahal but I am biased.
