1. Thanks, Hairbank and B-spot. It's so much fun. I've gone with #5 the last 3 days and it's been a blast. The wind blows, and instead of worrying about my hair blowing "out of place" it stays in place -- all over the place! icon_smile.gif

And, now that I'm starting to see the new hair rising slowly into view behind the frontal hair, it's totally exciting. Once that has really come up, my options will increase even more.

  2. Thanks so much, guys! Wow, don't forget that my road to recovery began right here on Pat's site!!!!!

    B-spot . . . did you hear the one about the lawyer and the shark . . . Ah, never mind . . .

Its-only-hair, it's amazing how this has changed my life. My self confidence is way up, and I just started playing with different hairstyles!

Bill, my frontal hair (HT #1) is about 3 inches, but the new stuff is only about 1.5 inches. This imbalance will even out in a few months, and then I'll really be able to start styling those babies!

    M&M:

    Bushy, Wushy was a bear,

Bushy, Wushy had a lotta hair.

Bushy, Wushy was really bushy, Woopie!

HK500, Shhhh, you're gonna get the rumor mill all started! icon_smile.gif

  3. I've updated my blog with month-9 pics. The main noticeable improvement this month has been thickening up top.

In light of Bill' point last month about the lighting difference between my month 7 and month 8 pics, I have decided to take two shots from the top: One in normal lighting and one under my bright bathroom vanity lights (which are substantially more revealing of scalp).

The following collage summarizes the situation, but larger, higher-resolution pics are on my blog. I look forward to your reactions.

I am not the shaven type so that won't work for me. I am 49 so alot of hair loss has already occured. I am at least a 5A. The hair I have is healthy & grows well, I just have no hairline, & my crown is gone. I wear a hat constantly.

I keep my hair longer so you wouldn't see the scar. At my age I suppose I don't have a lot to loose by getting a HTP besides more hair.

Sure if I were to get results like the pic's I see On Hasson's web site I would do it in a heartbeat! I just have a hard time believing some of those photo's. From a Norwood 6 to a full, lush head of hair. I can't help to feel like it is a trap.

Well thanks again guy's, maybe someday soon I will be posting pics of my HTP, maybe not.

Follica, is your hair loss pattern similar to mine pre-op? I understand your concerns. It wasn't until I flew up to H&W and saw Doug, Joe and a guy Named Dwayne the day before my surgery that I finally accepted it was all "real." It does seem, often, "too good to be true." Even nowadays I sometimes look at my hair in the mirror and wonder how the heck I got a full head of hair.

One thing you can do is tell us find HT recipients from Coalition docs in your area and have a look-see. If you live in NY or visit here, I'd be happy to meet up.

This site would be worthless without Bill. :-)

Not only was Bill's post completely "called for" (that's what this site is all about), it was worded as sensitively and kindly as possible. Ironically, your post demonstrated far less of these qualities. Bill is highly regarded on this forum not only because of his well-informed and intelligent posts, but for his even-keeled, friendly temperament. Calling one of the nicest guys on this forum rude is, well, rude.

  7. Dr. Feller's post was both comforting and humbling. It is a reminder that, while we may be HTN gurus, we should remain ever humble and cautious in reacting to medical conditions such as the one in question. Dr. Feller is, undoubtedly, not being too nonchalant, nobuzz4me. He speaks with absolute credibility and authority on the subject.

Let's remember that while we may be experts on what is a nice looking hairline or a dense HT, we are not doctors. The greatest heart surgeons in the world have patients die on them, and it doesn't make them any less great. Unless and until there is qualified medical analysis of the matter I'll reserve my judgment.

I'm glad Pat has, as always, demonstrated both openness and patience. I don't mean to sound patronizing, but I am always so grateful to see that Pat isn't into censoring and keeps this site as transparent as can be, for good or for bad. That's what makes this site so REAL.

  8. IXM, in your first (of 6) posts, you wrote (and I'm pasting it here) "I have undergone a DHI operation on July 2005, using the The D.H.I.?® (Direct Hair Implantation) patented technique." What keys did you use to create the "R" symbol?

IXM, if you don't mind, I have another question: If, as you say, your experience was superb and the results are "as good as it gets," why are you reading these boards? If you are so content, what are you searching for after a year of intensive research and a perfect procedure?

Finally, I noticed that you registered January 22, 2007 and your first post was that same day. Since your procedure was in July of 2005, what prompted you to suddenly pop up on this website in January of 2007 and share your experience?

I eagerly, and curiously, await reply.

Glad i refreshed my memory, what a differance from start to finish you must be over the moon it looks fantastic.

Thanks, Irish. The memories are bad ones for me as well, thankfully! The bald and HP days are mere bad memories. It's a new life for me.

How far out are you? BTW, if I may make a suggestion: If your signature had the date of your surgeries it would be easier to figure it out. icon_smile.gif The same goes for Bill.

Hey, Bill. As I wrote on my blog, I took that picture right under 4 60-watt bulbs in my bathroom. It clearly exaggerates things, because that's not the color of my hair (it's much darker). I took that pic to show as blatantly as I could the top of my head, no-holds-barred.

If you look at some guys posting their pics, they post one frontal picture in dark lighting, and people come out saying "wow" and "amazing." Well, if folks want to be that gullible, go ahead, but I'm not going to pull that one. My goal is not to make Dr. Hasson look like a god but to show the honest results of my surgery. The fact that Dr. H. may turn out to be a god is coincidental. icon_smile.gif

  11. OK, guys. I've updated my blog with HT #2 Month-8 pics. The only real difference over the last month is that the top has thickened up slightly. My new hair (middle third, top) is shorter than the frontal hair (by about 5 months' worth of growth) so there is an overall imbalance for now. I'm attaching some pics below.
