However, as they become more popular, this, combined with large shaft hair and deep contrast in some (white skin versus dark hair) might give it away. The hair may seem too thick for the front especially when there's a lot of forehead showing.

Like I said, FUE-ing a few hundred thinner hair for the front might be the way.

Very interesting post, John. The thing is that one subway ride in NYC will show you that people's hairlines recede in so many different ways that I doubt anyone could make such a conclusion. Some FUE's, however, sounds like an intriguing proposition. Thanks for your post.

I was just wondering, why do so many guys get so hung up on a particular set hairstlye they never want to change. Seriously, you only live once and even that goes by so fast its scary. Experiment a little! If you haven't gotten a transplant yet, shave your head! See what it looks like. What the hell right? Try something new. If you have as much hair as Bushy does, grow it out and goof with it. Those photos with the gelled slightly tussled look really looked good imo. Be a little messy, be a little daring, you can always go back to what's comfortable. Am I getting him in trouble for posting here?

    Dear Hottie,

You made some very valid points in your post. However, it is well known that posters on this forum are not taken seriously without pics to back them up. Please post some clear pictures. Since there is much debate over whether pictures should be taken with or with out flash, why don't you send us some with no flash and some while flashing us. Thank you in advance.

Personally I think your HT is one of the best I have ever seen period...the only thing holding me from ranking you in my top five transformations all time, is a lack of before pics....you are looking Hella Bushy these days brother congrats!

Bayscholar, thanks so much for your compliments! I waited because I wanted things to get totally settled in and figured I'd wait two years for the second. Personally, I think everyone should wait two years before #2. Then I had to reschedule my date twice, which delayed it for another 6 months.

As for before pics, I'm going to email Jotronic to see if he has any befores beside the ones I posted in my blog.

Thanks, Fol! Everyone I know loves it and can't get over how happy I am with it. And the new ability to style it is SO much fun!

Folica, I have no problem with candor, even when it would tend to displease me. As long as you are 1) basically polite and 2) root your comments in substance (e.g., I think your hairline looks unnatural because it is placed too high/looks pluggy/the hairs are angled wrong).

That being said maybe Bushy can provide a pic with the dry look hanging in the front. Hell, he has enough hair! icon_biggrin.gif

    Do you mean like #3?

Well I guess am to passionate about Hairloss to stop posting on this forum. I appreciate B spot, Nervous & Bill for encouraging me to continue posting. icon_smile.gif

I second the calls for your staying. It's important to have good, healthy discussions and respectful arguments in order to make this a true research forum.

And thanks, everyone, for your comments.

The style in this last pic you posted looks much better than the spiked pic.

    Happy growing! Folica

I agree with you on both counts, and thanks for the pointers. Though my hair is not dyed, it looks better in the summer when it gets lighter by the sun. And I like the longer, styled hair in the pic you attached much better than the shorter, spiked one.

I 100% disagree with you! I think Bushy's hairline looks incredibly natural. What do you feel looks unnatural about it? To me, everything fits from the position of the hairline, to the soft blend, and the design of the hairline. Even as "trained" as my eyes are from seeing many hair transplants (at least in photos) over the years, I don't think there is anything about his hair that is obviously a hair transplant. It looks 100% natural to me.

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion...but I'd like to hear more about why you feel that way.

    Bill

Thanks, Bill. I don't mind hearing what he has to say. If he sees something imperfect and points it out I'm eager to hear and consider it.

Dude--it is absolutely awesome. The results are perfectly natural and there is NO way if I saw you walking down the street or sitting across from me anywhere would I suspect anything. The only thing going thru my head would be "that bastard has more hair than me or Is that Johnny Depp?"

Thanks, Nelly. That's a great point. So many of us may see things that aren't even there simply because we're looking for them.

Your hairline is natural in my opinion and right now is #2 on the list of things you have that I want!!!!

    Guess what #1 is? LOL!!!

Hey, stay away from my wife!!! icon_smile.gif

Thanks, B-Spot. I appreciate your comments always. And believe me, please, when I say that I would equally appreciate it if you said you didn't like my hairline. I'm not posting here all the time to show off, though there is certainly an element of joy and pride here. I post for feedback, and am fortunate to have so many good, intelligent, knowledgeable guys like you willing to offer up your thoughts, positive or otherwise.

  10. Here is an up-close video of my hairline. Unfortunately, youtube really reduces the quality, and it is much crisper in the original. (Anyone have any youtube tips on improving the vid?)

Folica, I agree with you that the spiked look doesn't make my hair look its best.At this point I can't wait to grow it all back out and be able to style it nicely again. But I'm glad I tried this as well. Thanks for the compliments.

But it is better than bald!

Well, as you said in your subsequent post, this was rather "rough" and insensitive. However, I'm more interested in hearing which picture you are referring to, and what about it that makes my hairline look unnatural to you. I'm also most interested in hearing what others have to say about the naturalness of my hairline, since you raised it. Please, guys, don't hold back. My allegiance to Dr. Hasson does not exist to the exclusion of a bad result. If you guys think that there is anything unnatural about my hairline, please let me know what it is and how it can be corrected.

  12. Ohhhhh, I've been missing all the fun here! First of all, Joe, how come when I come out to BC I end up treating to dinner and beer?!?!?! God, I'm a sucker. Now that I know your policy I'm coming back up to be treated right. icon_eek.gif

As for splitting grafts, Dr. Hasson posted this in no uncertain terms:

I am not sure as to the source of your information which leads to your question , but I must state in no uncertain terms that we are not routinely splitting our FU's into single hairs for use in the hairline or any other reason.

With the large megasessions that we are routinely performing we actually land up with more single hair FU's than we need.

The number of single hair FU's obtained in a given surgery depends entirely on the number of single hair FU's harvested in the donor strip. As a percentage of the total this number is usually greater in individuals with less dense donor hair.

The only time that splitting of FU's would be necessary would be in a small refinement/touch up surgery. I cannot however remember the last time that this was necessary.

I hope this clears up any misconception that you may have had.

    Sincerely

    Victor Hasson MD

I assume that 10 months is long enough... Time to take some new photos this weekend!

That surprises me. Now that I have #2 length, I can search for my scar easily, but I truly cannot find it by looking for a white line like after HT #1. However, I can detect a slight difference in the angles that show me where the "scar" is. The average person will probably not notice this, but the HT geek's eye will. I'll post a video shortly.

The latest style is cool also, but I too prefer the #5 from the previous photos. I am not sure of your age, but it seems more appropriate. I have to admit that it will also give a better illusion of density, especially on the crown area because of combing back versus forward./QUOTE]

Yeah, I'm going back to #5 when my hair grows back. It's more age-appropriate, and the density is better that way, too. But this is cool, too. icon_smile.gif

  15. Hairbank, my crown is kind of light (see-through) in the sunlight without product in it. The main reason for this is that Dr. Hasson barely reached the crown. Most of what I have there is from Propecia/Avodart, and these meds don't necessarily give you thick hair, but enough to cover the baldness. I've tried this forward hair style now for a full 24 hours icon_smile.gif, and I'm not crazy about it. Once my hair grows out longer I will probably go back to the #5 picture in my hairstyle collage I posted above, which everyone seemed to prefer (and I liked while I had it).

    Thanks for your compliments, Hairbank.

Damn, I'm sorry you had to experience that. I, too, had this horrid fate after my first HT. It's amazing how much pain a little bit of reading could have saved you. All it takes, as Irish Homer mentioned, is soaking the head for 15 minutes or so before removing the staples. A soaked, hot towel can do the trick, too. Another option is to put Bacitracin (or some other appropriate ointment) on the staples about an hour before removal. Voil??? . The staple removal after my second HT was the easiest thing I ever experienced: Not a drop of blood and not even as much as a tingle of pain.

  17. Today I had a haircut. I asked my stylist to go to a #2 length on the sides and back, and leave it fairly short on top but long enough to play with. Here is what I ended up with:

FRONT: The hair is combed forward and fluffed up in the front third. You like?

    shortfront.jpg

RIGHT SIDE: NO scar is visible, but a slight something (not sure what) is detectable. Based on my conversations with Dr. Hasson, this is due to the change of hair direction above and below the scar. Considering that this is a #2, I'll take it!

    shortright.jpg

LEFT SIDE: Nothing detectable at all. Period.

    shortleft.jpg

BACK: Nothing detectable at all. Period.

    shortback.jpg

TOP: Good coverage despite being combed forward.

    shorttop.jpg

Please let me know what you think of this style, as well as the tricho scar area all around. Thanks in advance guys.
