I have always recommended aloe vera creams.

Masturbation in the 48 hour period following a procedure might pop out a few grafts but unlikely, still, it never hurts to remain on the safe side.
-
I would also say both are recommended however if it comes down to choosing just one or the other, most would choose finasteride.

do you mean temporary shock loss or a permanent one?
Temporary

Although you still have good hair volume, yes you could add a small amount of grafts to the temporal lobe points where there is obvious recessionary loss…overall, you have a diffused loss pattern and it’s great to hear that you are responding well to the oral meds however you are still young and only time will tell if you continue to sustain recessionary loss in your frontal zone.

A hair transplant is a serious commitment. It's not just one procedure. It's something that has to be taken on as a plan over the lifespan. The longer you wait the better able you are to make the best decision. The most important factor in all areas of hair restoration is patience. Your goal should be to have a natural appearance. This doesn't mean a low hair line, super density, full crown, etc. It does need to look as though nothing was ever done. I wouldn't undergo surgery without medication which is also why medication is your first port of call and to give medication a good twelve months to see how you respond. All the best!
Again, great words of wisdom from Gats…it took 4 separate procedures to get me where it felt like I had accomplished my long term goals…and I’m talking in terms of visual appearance.

Yes, IMHO that’s viable donor that will grow, but the real issue is, “will it be visually compatible?”
-
Honestly, you need to get several opinions regarding this from dermatologists who have lots of experience treating patients with this drug and also understand treating hair loss.

I started taking low dose finasteride 28 years ago shortly after my first HT procedure and after having 4 separate FUHT procedures totaling 7,000 grafts, my visual coverage has remained intact!

That’s nice to hear…I wish there were more feedback from guys using oral minoxidil.

Of course Patrick Dempsey's hairline is going to look natural on Patrick Dempsey. That doesn't mean Patrick Dempseys hairline is going to look natural on a guy who has MPB...
I agree, good point.

I wonder how much of a factor that oral minoxidil had in the results so far.

Carla…this endeavor requires lots of patience and perseverance because most repair patients are not forthcoming yet you will find some that will present their case online with multiple photos…they ask for help and which doctors are best suited for their case…you need to surf every hairloss community for repair cases…there are several within this community who have discussed their situations in great detail.

That’s AWESOME!

2-4 weeks post-op is the norm but like anything else, there are variances.

Seems very suspicious to me…😳

Good gosh, so sorry to hear you caught COVID…I caught it in the hospital last fall when I had hernia surgery and my wife got it too, from the hospital…boy were we sick!
Wish you well in your recovery and your results.

I was diagnosed with strep throat (septic throat infection) immediately after my 2nd HT procedure and post-op I was really sick with high fever…I was in bed for a week and my doctor put me on a strong antibiotic…did it have any negative affect on my procedure?…no, at least none that I noticed regarding healing, regrowth, etc…I think you are going to be fine as well, best wishes to you.

You are a great responder to meds and at 22 I would not be looking at surgery. You have a great head of hair but I know your psychological urges are real for surgery. However it would be like trying to catch a tiger by the tail if you were to have surgery at 22. If the meds (and I say 'if') don't maintain your hair you will be forever playing catch up surgically at such a young age. You will end up having many surgeries every time your hair creeps back if it in fact does. You will have to hope that you don't max out your donor and will have to factor in the costs lifelong with this approach. Are you prepared for the real risks of surgery such as permanent shock loss, poor yield, etc? These do happen and you have to be willing to accept this going in regardless of who the surgeon is. A hair transplant will never look as natural as your hair does right now. Keep the great head of hair you have now with medication. All the best!
This is another great post from Gatsby filled with wisdom and good advice…there are many young men that have a similar profile as wh300 that should read this!

The notion may be that DUT has been proven to inhibit both Type I & II DHT while finasteride inhibits Type I…many guys switch to DUT if they do not experience efficiency with low dose finasteride.
-
Yes indeed, “In the right hands”.

It never ceases to surprise me how some of the younger men think that surgery in itself will solve their genetic hair loss without the use of effective hair loss meds…the bottom line is that if you have native hair that is DHT receptive, low dose finasteride, minoxidil, will help you hold on to it.

They can call it a hundred different things but trust me, after all the hype, it’s a binding contract which releases the doctor and or clinic from any and all liability…and they typically do not have the patient sign it until after they collect 100% of the money on the morning of surgery.

I would wait a minimum of 12 full months before starting scalp stretching providing your strip scar healed completely without any complications…and I agree to confide with your surgeon.
