    Sorry for your experience.

    A good friend of mine is a MD. Hormonal therapy depending on the type, majority of the time causes increase hair "thinness" and "hairloss".

    Propecia can help, but synthetic hormones have this as a side effect-- some can be mild HL and others severe HL.

    Fal comments good points and good reference.

     

    Florecent lighting shows less density and direct sunlight sometimes.

    Also donor hair character-- how big diameter, dense course the hair shaft per FU makes a difference.

    On the hairline you do not want dense packing and 50-60fu/cm is good-- you want that natural "zone fading look" rather than a blunt dense packing hairline.

    Even though the laser comb is FDA approved-- like other products it works differently and to different degrees with different people.

    Some love it, majority have neutral comments--neither good or bad results.

    Herbal products get slammed alot in Western Medicine because of sceintific medical studies, even though many of them have been used for Hundreds of years. You do have to take many of them with a grain of salt, but if you find something that is working for you-- GREAT and continue using it.

    There is a reason that Japan has over 35,000 people over 100yrs old???? Per last months global census report!

    Propecia and Proscar is the EXACT same medicine made by the same company at the same plants-- Same drug-- Propecia 1mg tab and Proscar is 5mg-- so buy cutting it to 1.25-- it should not be any difference. The only SMALL effect is the "coat core" for metabolism-- becaue you have to cut the 5mg Proscare-you alter part of the pill core which is part of the way the seal the pill for metobolism and drug release. This isnt tha big of a deal, but might be in your case. If you feel that strong, then switch back to see if problem stops, if not, then it wasnt the Proscar.

    Rumor had him having a HT about 5 years ago, then with further HL, he has just decided to keep a short cut and use concealers on camera. Sometimes the concealers look great-- others it doesnt.

    Probably didnt like his orginal results or thought with his HL, he wouldnt have the thickness he would want to begin with, so he just letting nature take its course.

    First, Propecia should be fine for you now, also combine it with Rogaine for best results.

     

    Caloric intake has nothing to do with HL, vitamins/minerals/fatty acids/enough protein and carbs have a effect (amount of effect of diet varies widely amonth experts and doctors)

    Sounds like your OK with your diet.

     

    Try about the meds and evaluate.

    I dont think this has any bearing on MPB. If you have the gene regardless of thickness of hair or how hairy a person is---you will have higher risk of MPB.

    If seen MPB patients who had lots of hair and others with same profile who never get MPB.

    Also seen thin hair people never get MPB and those who also get it.

    There are many compounding pharmacists out there that put together customize formulas for patients. Each patient is different, and I would be very educated on the compounds that are going into the product (and look into the synergistic effects each have with one another--make sure it doesnt BP, increase bleeding, ect) Most times prescription drugs are fine mono-therapy but have warnings precautions for combo therapy.

    If it is safe and works for you-- GREAT.

    Propecia effects (if any at all) in small percent patients your LIBO (desire) not erections. I've heard of patients who want to stay on Propecia getting their doctors to write a script of Viagra for this side effect.

    Talk to your surgeon about your options.

    Apply warm compress to relieve pressure in red areas-- make sure you wash hair daily and keep clean if possible and air get to it-- skin heals best with air.

    If doesnt go away in a week, go to or call your doctor-- they can call in some antibiotics for skin infections that help.

    Shapiro from my experience has great closure techniques with sub Q and surface levels. Much like closures plastic surgeons use. He used staples with mine and you can not see and barely feel the scar.

    Diddo Fal comments-- you must take together for best synergy. So good job that you started.

    Also, use a good non-oil base or non-pore clogging shampoo and conditioner-- several brands that are good. I use Nioxon which has several types for different kind of hair thinning.

    Make sure you get your Omega fatty acids as well.

    This should slow down your HL progression.

    THere are several in the Chicago area if you live N.IL and if S.IL then look at St. Louis. If you live around Chicago, might as well make a few hr trip to Minn MN to see one of the better surgeons in Ron Shapiro? At least get a consult.

    Hair does not grow back with FUE-- it will have a thinner appearence hair per sq cm. If a lot is taken out then it is risky having a short haircut (a friend of mine wheres his hair short and the "thin areas" in the FUE sites stand out-- looks like swiss cheese kinda)

    With Strip you dont have to worry about this as the hair is pulled together for same density-- BUT you have a linear scar?

    An anology would be a flower garden. YOu might plant flowers in a garden that grows but it will grow and continue to grow much better with fertilizer/mircle grow/ect.

     

    Much like the hair, HT will have greater Long Term success with continued meds-- such as Propecia and Rogaine (plus in my opinion you are protecting your investment).

    As far as the pain meds during post op (if this was your question other then perm meds) then it various by person (some for couple weeks others only couple days)

    The body has a rejection rate with HT donor-- not as high as organ donors but high enough. Plus it has to be a "living donor" so that the FU have current blood flow and not too many people will donar a strip of scalp???

    There have been some recent studies where survival success rates where dramatically improved with limited the amounth of flesh around the bulb-- but still not good enough for rejection.

    With the pics you posted, you look OK and NOT a HT canidate-- without really seeing hairline.

    Only you know if you are loosing hair when you comb,sleep on pillow/sheats, ect.

    My suggestion, if you think you are starting to thin-- given your pics-- NOW is a perfect time to start BOTH Propecia and Rogaine xtra strength as it will limit future Hairloss.

    Also, side note, the longer you let your hair grow--the heavier the hair will be thus "weighting down" the hair and giving you a "thinner" appearence over shorter haircuts.

    30 is a good age to start considering HT for MPB if that is the option you have decided on. TAKE YOUR TIME< DO YOUR RESEARCH< TALK TO DOCTORS--- Research now before your 1st will be the most important thing you can do.

    The Web is a wealth of knowledge but also can be a trap for bad doctors-- so be very researched before making a decision.
