    Nice results.

Do you have any results of long haired SMP for increasing density?

Ciaus is correct I no longer offer thickening. I do have a colleague in New Jersey I am sending clients to who require this service. He was not trained by me though and does not use Beauty Medical like I do.

Hi @hairthere- Would you agree that FUE scars are easier to hide than FUT scars with Micro/Tricopigmentation? Appreciate your insight!

Sorry for the delayed response, I'm just seeing this.

Not always because I see such a wide range in quality of FUT and FUE scars. Sometimes this range is due to poor surgical performance/planning on the doctor's part, other times its bad patient physiology. What I try to impress upon anyone considering a transplant is that you will have some level of visible scarring if you plan on shaving your donor areas short. If you are going for FUE make sure the doctor knows what he is doing. I'm seeing a lot of clients where the extractions are grouped too close together and they form a definitive shape.

Definite improvement, but like HTs not perfect.

Unfortunately many of the clients I work on are under the impression they can shave their heads without the FUEs being noticeable. Sometimes that is the case but often it's not. Lately I've been seeing an uptick in cases where the extractions are grouped so tightly that it creates a very noticeable mass of scarring. It's truly sad that they are being duped by medical doctors.

  4. Thank you! I don't have statistics but the majority of my clients come for touchups. The fading process varies greatly from person to person. For the pigment to fade completely back to bare skin it would take quite some time unless the initial treatment was done very sparingly. I will say that in my experience the pigment does fade evenly. I am working on a video series that explains the fade process even further in depth than my existing video explanation.

  5. Please go to the Ahead Ink Youtube channel. I have two videos that will explain the term Tricopigmentation as well as the fading process. In terms of published studies, there are none. The Beauty Medical product is made in Europe and is very safe. It's manufactured in a pharmaceutical grade ISO9000 lab and I receive certification along with lab analysis of every shipment I get from them.

  6. The way you set that up I was expecting to see a complete disaster! My man you need to chill out. I’ve seen guys with horror shows between terrible scars from HTs and bad SMP work. You are nothing of the sort! In fact from what I see it looks pretty damn good. You’re a handsome guy, you look fit, have some cool tats and are keeping the beard well groomed.

  7. If at 5 months you don't at least feel some new growth popping through I'd say there's an issue. Also redness can linger for quite some time especially on fair skin types. However, the redness you show looks like there might be something else going on (it appears splotchy or bumpy perhaps?). At this point I would definitely recommend getting a second opinion from another HT doctor.

  8. No I wear my hair long. I have 3 strip scars so would need some repair work before I could ever shave.

The problem with SMP for thickening in my opinion is the other products you mentioned all provide some type of real density. The increased diameter from fibers, etc. blocks light from reflecting off your scalp. This is what prevents that thinning look. SMP only cuts the contrast of dark hair on light skin. It helps in some situations but depending on lighting, wet hair, hair with product, it's just not as effective.

  9. The main reason is that it’s a tough /taxing procedure physically on myself and my machine. I only inject at .5mm (upper dermis) and in order to push that needle through long hair it takes extra effort. The cost of replacing damaged dermographers just was not worth it.

I also find that guys who want long hair tend to have unrealistic expectations of the SMP and they really want long hair.

  10. I've had 9 HTs. Every single time I got to the 9.5 month mark I'd start to get a bit panicky. Is this as good as it will get? The answer is, it will improve. You need to stop and think about what you've just had done and what those transplanted hairs are going through. Essentially they're baby hairs and they need to grow and cycle. As they fully mature (between 12-18 months) they will have more of an aesthetic impact. That being said, do not expect it to be perfect or provide the same density you once had. That's not really a possible or wise goal to have because I'm sure, as you know, you have a limited donor supply. The best a surgeon can do is place grafts in such a way that you have good density and pull off the illusion of full hair. If at the end you're still unhappy you can discuss bulking up with another procedure. But a good surgeon will assess your situation overall and help you come up with a gameplay that responsibly manages your donor in the years to come.

How much is an average SMP session?

An average 3-session package for a Shaved Look client (creating a hairline and giving full density front to crown) runs between $2500-$3000 USD depending on Norwood level. If scars need to be addressed the cost will be a bit higher. Then touchups will cost much less because you're just doing one session typically.

  12. I’ve never expected or felt disappointed if a client doesn’t leave a tip. Occasionally clients do give me something as a gesture of appreciation for the work I performed or the positive change I may have made in their life (i.e., once a client gave me a gift card to a local gourmet shop I recommend him to). I’d say do something extra if you’re really pleased with the work and you really want to. But you are certainly not expected to tip.
