  1. Let me save you some time and money: I would actually turn you away as a client based on these pictures. I think that this type of hairloss is most evident depending on the lighting, and pictures always make it look worse. In real life I bet most of the time it's hardly noticeable (except to yourself because you're hyperconscious of it). Stop taking these overhead selfies (iPhone cameras always bump up contrast making thinning appear worse) and use some thickening products like Melvin suggested. Best of luck!

  2. Ok makes sense. If you want post some pictures and I can evaluate or feel free to text them to me 201-482-4529. I don’t feel everyone is a suitable candidate for thickening SMP and often turn people away. Also I’d be wary of any SMP clinic that readily accepts you as a client without making sure you’re a qualified candidate (unfortunately there are plenty that would.)

  3. I went through this in 2005 with Joseph Karamikian in NYC. I had no problem naming him and warning others on this very forum as soon as I found out he botched me. I took him to small claims court but he never showed up (only his lawyer on retainer). After going to court 4 times I dropped the case realizing the best I could do was expose him for the terrible work he did.

  4. As others have suggested you must see a dermatologist for this to get it properly diagnosed. If it is alopecia areata the doctor will likely suggest steroid injections to regrow the hair. If this was caused by the straightening treatment I would think you'd see some hair regrowing by now. I also don't think the process would have removed hair in a tight circle like that. In the meantime if it really bothers you perhaps try some topical concealers (hair fibers or Dermatch) but please do so with your doctor's knowledge.

  5. Love the hairline design and the extractions are how it should be done. I cannot tell you how many FUE patients I'm having to help conceal scars with SMP because the extractions are grouped too tightly together forming a defined shape. Concerning going for more grafts, I wouldn't....I think if you pack too much in the front it won't look as natural. You also are better off keeping more in the bank for other zones. From my experience there will be continued maturing of the grafts up to 12 months and you may even see changes up to 18 months.

  6. First you comprise a list of the top surgeons who provide reliable FUE and whose work you like and feel confident in. Once you have a list of equally competent doctors you then whittle the list down based on price, location, etc. If you can't afford them you wait, save up more money and get the surgery when it's feasible. Best of luck!

  7. I think for each section you're looking at 150-300 grafts approximately. The type of graft (ones, twos, threes) will effect the total number. That top section will likely be double the amount 500-600. Keep in mind pictures always make the hair loss appear worse. I bet to the naked eye some of this thinning isn't as noticeable. At any rate, the hair looks great.....enjoy!

P.S. Ultimately you should listen to what your HT surgeon advises in terms of graft count as he or she is not only helping with your current situation but also managing your donor for the future. I know it's difficult, but don't succumb to hair greed.

Somehow your reply got imbedded in my reply, almost missed it. The part below the line here, usually its harder to tell where their receded hairlines end and your work begins. Interesting about the effect of the vasoconstrictor. And looking at it some more, I think the contrast with the longer length and density of the surrounding hair further back is also drawing my attention. I think because of how much existing hair he's still got behind that bare frontal area you covered with smp, he's going to have to be extra diligent about keeping it buzzed close for optimal blending.

Astute observation! Yes this is a young client (19 years old) and his existing hairline was still quite strong. I did advise him that he would need to be diligent in shaving otherwise the blend would not work as well. Thanks again!

More great results. The second one from the top with the shaved eyebrow, on the top front it looks a little dull with a filmy-like appearance. Was that some combination of too much topical moisturizer or extra skin that will shed shortly?

Thanks! I’m not really sure where you mean specifically. It could be from the topical vasoconstrictor I use as this client is pictured immediately post procedure.
