  1. I have been on blood pressure medication for many years and recently had a surgery with Dr. Konior and there were no issues. My skin was so supple that the anaesthetic was spreading too easily so he had to keep stopping to give me extra anaesthetic to boot. Check with your surgeon but Dr. Konior never brought it up as a problem. The only things I was told to not take the week prior to surgery were all vitamins except for Vitamin C and any paracetamol or other over the counter headache tablets. Also I had nose surgery a couple of years ago - 6 hours under general anaesthetic. No issues there either. I don’t really drink and quit smoking many years ago. It helps if you’re healthy and take care of yourself.
  2. Wow…I must’ve just missed you! I had my procedure with Dr. Konior the previous day. I haven’t posted a write-up yet but while you were having your surgery, I would’ve been in the next room for a check up. Everybody was wonderful at the clinic. I look forward to seeing your progress.
  3. I’ll be sure to let you know what I’m told. Here’s hoping it can be done without any issues. It’s admittedly a difficult topic to find information on as most who do this tend to show off longer beards as opposed to (hopefully) pristine skin underneath.
  4. I haven’t spoken in depth with Dr. Konior about it but simply mentioned that in addition to hair restoration that I was looking to add some facial hair too in a separate procedure and in passing he said in general he prefers beard-to-beard if there’s existing facial hair to match as sometimes scalp hair can be too different in colour and texture. I’ll know more in the coming months once I discuss this with him further. I’ve asked other surgeons who have all said cobblestoning only occurs with poor technique when grafts are not adequately trimmed. Dr. Rassman said in a post he trims the FUs to prevent cobblestoning. Here’s one of his quotes: ”With bumps at the base of recipient sites, the transplants could be a problem as you suggested so I would go back and see your doctor and ask the question you asked above. You should not have cobblestonning of these grafts.” Based on what New_Barnet_Please said, his post-op site looked smooth just as it did pre-surgery aside from some redness which is a good sign it can be done without scarring or cobblestoning.
  5. What about people who get beard transplants? I was told in the hands of a skilled surgeon clean shaving transplanted facial hair (beard to beard, scalp to beard etc), the skin should have no obvious scarring. Because it’s more likely that a beard transplant will be clean shaven, the face would have to be an area where you couldn’t have any obvious signs of surgery.
  6. If anybody deserves an amazing outcome it’s you. You’ve done such a great service to everyone on here who asks for sound advice that we all can’t wait for you to rock your new look! 😊
  7. Don’t make any big decisions when under the influencer. 😅
  8. Well performed electrolysis should not impact the skin. I have done it before. Certainly it is less traumatic to the skin than punching out grafts but you need to pick an electrologist carefully. There’s lots of bad ones and very few who are great at it. Dr. Konior is a proponent of laser and / or electrolysis in certain circumstances. So is Dr. Cooley. Obviously it’s a catch 22 because punching and re-planting the grafts means you can re-use them. Electrolysis will kill them. Consult with a reputable doctor. There could be a scenario where some can be punched and re-planted and just the more visible frontal area could be removed with electrolysis to keep you from visible scarring.
  9. Thank you for all your help. For me matching isn’t an issue because I have nothing there so scalp hair wouldn’t need to be similar to existing facial hair. I’m after a lower density moustache / soul patch and a little under the chin. Something akin to what a baby faced teenager would have.
  10. Thus far can it be clean shaven to skin surface level or are there raised bits? The thing most want to know is that the skin surface is as flat as a natural beard is.
  11. I’m interested in this topic too but in my case, scalp to beard. Not to create a full beard but just to create some facial hair growth on the lip and chin which is absent on me. The burning question I’ve been trying to get consistent answers too are wanting to ensure if done, that when clean shaven it won’t have cobblestones or any other complications that will mean the hair can’t be clean shaven without showing signs of a procedure. I know Dr. Konior does beard to beard and my guess is that being the perfectionist he is, that he wouldn’t provide such an option if it meant the facial could not be clean shaven ever. I mean not many would want to keep designer stubble or a full beard forever. It still has to be functional with the option to shave clean. I’ve been told by a few HT doctors that if done properly there’s no visible scarring and that cobblestones or pits are because of bad technique as to how the grafts are trimmed.
  12. I’m from Australia too. I’ve spoken to one person locally who had a hair transplant at Gro. I never actually saw him in person (a mutual friend put us in touch over the phone when I was wanting to speak to people who had had hair transplants done in Melbourne prior to my learning of this forum). He seemed happy with his results although this mutual friend did say she thought his hairline was quite thin. So I can’t attest to whether his result was good or how fussy he is because I never met him in person. Let me tell you. I was just about ready to pull the trigger locally with a well credentialed surgeon when an old post about said surgeon that I pulled up from @Gatsby stopped me in my tracks. This surgeon who seemed impressive had no results I could pull up online even after his 30+ years performing these procedures. Yes he had was published and had a track record but no results anywhere. Listen to the advice here. Discounts are a huge red flag.
  13. Happy for you, buddy. It’s been a long road for you to get to this point.
  14. Did Dr. Wasserbauer explain why the grafts didn’t take? Did it have anything to do with how she performed it? I don’t know much about her at all. Because you started with FUT that should mean you have plenty of donor left. Maybe even more than you think but obviously you would know better than me. Your donor looks very good. Are you able to do a second strip? How well did the scar heal?
  15. Hey all, This video popped up in my feed a day or two ago so I decided to google “Brett Maverick” and HRN because I needed the balance of the forum’s trusty collective sanity. I’m booked in with Dr. Konior for a future date so after his quoted graft number I’m always curious to compare area sizes with others who look to have had a similar area restored. So my initial thought was he received too many or his area was deceptively larger than mine. I was stunned at how unnatural the hairline was so I turned to the comments yet there was nothing but praise. So a few hours ago Dr. Gary Linkov posts a reaction to the aforementioned video. What stunned me was initially, Dr. Linkov praised the hairline as “overall pretty good,” but later in the video said he would need an 800 graft touch up and didn’t seem very critical of the work. His platform is huge. Why wouldn’t he have brought up what Melvin and others have? He called the hairs singles when it’s obvious that there’s some multiples in there. I was here going crazy because I would not be happy if I had this result. They added uniform regularity to the irregularity. Utterly bizarre.
